The Senal MC24-EL Shotgun Microphone HDSLR Kitis a battery-/phantom-powered long shotgun microphone that delivers broadcast-quality sound in the studio or on location. It maximizes the rejection of sound coming from the sides and rear of the mic and can be used as a directional microphone to capture full, rich, natural-sounding audio for speech and dialog.

Thoughtfully designed and engineered for demanding video productions, ENG, and broadcast applications, the MC24-EL delivers quality sound, and its rugged brass frame ensures it is capable of withstanding the rigors of recording in the field or on the go.

The microphone features a high-grade condenser transducer that captures detailed and accurate sound. It has a broad frequency response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz and delivers clear sound reproduction with full lows, present mids, and crisp highs. There is a selectable high-pass filter at 180 Hz that minimizes unwanted noise and rumble.

Furthermore, the microphone runs on 48V phantom power which is available from most professional video cameras, mixing boards, or recording devices, and runs on a single AA battery (over 400 hours) for those DSLRs, computers, and other devices where phantom power is not available. The mic is suitable for mounting on a boompole, a mic stand, or a camera, and includes a foam windscreen, a mic clip, and a 5/8" (mic stand thread) to 3/8" (boompole thread) adapter.

The microphone is covered with a matte-black rubberized coating that reduces handling noise and ensures trouble-free recordings when being operated. The finish also rejects unwanted light reflections. It is built with a gold-plated XLR connector and comes in a leatherette pouch.

Senal's MC24-EL shotgun microphone is designed for video production and broadcast applications. Its length is well suited for ENG, outdoor recording, and camera mounting.

A hypercardioid polar pattern provides front-facing directivity and off-axis sound rejection. It is suitable when recording speech or dialog in noisy environments such as a convention floor or sporting event.

The MC24-EL runs on 48V phantom power supplied by most professional video cameras, mixing boards, or recording devices. It can also be powered by one AA battery over 400 hours, which is ideal for recording to DSLR cameras, computers, and other devices that don't offer phantom power.

The durable and solid construction ensures the microphone is capable of withstanding the rigors of recording in the field or on the go.

The rubberized coating minimizes handling noise.

The matte finish doesn't reflect light when shooting in the studio.

The selectable high-pass filter rolls off unwanted low-frequency noise and rumble at 180 Hz and minimizes room noise when recording in environments with fans, air conditioners, blowers, or overhead lights.

The gold-plated XLR connector resists corrosion and ensures excellent signal transfer.

A foam windshield is included to minimize wind noise and to protect the microphone from dust and debris. A mic clip is included for boompole or mic stand mounting.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How many dB is the front-to-back response?

A: The manufacturer has not provided this information.

Q: 2. How long is the connector wire to the camera? I will be using the NTG with a DJI OSMO 3 and iPhone, and it is mounted on a cold-shoe adapter at the base of the gimbal (so about 12" away from the port).

A: The length of the included cable is 12''.

Q: 3. I'm assuming this works with Zoom H6 and 5D Mark III ?

A: Works like a charm with the 5D Mark III.

Q: 4. compatible with Canon C100 MKII?

A: The C100 MKII does have a 3.5mm audio input so this attenuator should work on it. Not sure if the C100 has mic-level impedance on that jack or not. It likely does.

Q: 5. Will this cable work with H1 Zoom and my Canon SL1?

A: It sure will.

Q: 6. Thoughts on using this cable to connect a GH4 and Zoom H1n?

A: While this would work for connecting the headphone out of the H1n to a mic input on the GH4, you would lose the ability to monitor from the recorder. Here's another attenuator cable that gives you a separate headphone output B&H # KOACH425MON.

Q: 7. Is this good for a boom pole?

A: Yes, it is. It is recommended to use a shock mount to reduce handling noise.

Q: 8. What is the main difference to the long shotgun microphone? Which one is better suitable as an on-camera microphone?

A: The main difference is the option to power the long shotgun mic using a single AA battery or phantom power. The short shotgun mic operates on phantom power only. The mic element, frequency response range, high-pass filter, and specs for sensitivity level, maximum SPL, signal to noise ratio are the same for both mics when using phantom power. For selecting the better on-camera mic, it really depends on the camera that you will be using and whether or not the camera supplies phantom power or if you will be using a separate phantom power supply. If you are using a DSLR, mirrorless camera or handycam with a single 3.5mm mic input, the long shotgun will allow you to connect the mic directly to the camera using an XLR to 3.5mm cable and power the mic with a AA batttery.

Q: 9. i want to connect tascam 60d mk ii camera out to my panasonic fz1000 mic input, do i really need this cable? (LN2MIC-ZOOMH4N).just considering not having hiss/noise in my recording.do i really need it?

A: Thanks everyone for the contributions. I would have appreciated the more if everyone gives their answers based on the camera and sound recorder I stated above real world expectation/likely result. Not some guess/on-papers answers. Basically, I want the audio recorded along with the videos without syncing later. Will this cable work with this specified equipment? Someone said it doesnt work for GH4, G7. Am wondering if it will work with FZ1000 and tascam 60d mk ii, if not suggest one.

Q: 10. What wind protection can I use with this?

A: You can find a selection of compatible windshields listed under the "Accessories" tab on the item page. Click on the tab for "Wind Protection" and you'll see items such as the Auray WSS-2018 Professional Windshield for Shotgun Microphones - 18cm (B&H # AUWSS2018), Rycote Standard Hole Softie Windscreen with 19-22mm Hole (B&H # RYS18M), and Rycote 18cm Super-Softie Wind Shield for Shotgun Mics - Standard Hole (B&H # RYSS18M).

[0.9 lb] I have a couple of differentmicrophones laying around and I use this one the most. The microphone has great quality, I really like it for studio work. In fact I was testing this back and forth with my NTG-2 and this microphone ended up replacing my NTG-2 in my studio work. Really great for the price.

[Low Cut/HPF] At first I figured ok I was going to have some static or not performed as in the Product Video on B&H.

Boy was I wrong!!!!

1. The pole and mic are super lite.

2. Assembles and less an a minute.

3. Production Value.... each time I pulled this bad boy out, clients would say, Wow... Hollywood! pulling out all pro-gear Going Big Time Now Oh, this serious

4. I filmed a client in a Noisiest and I mean the Nosiest Warehouse I have ever been in. I could hear my client as clear as day. On my Vimeo Page or Facebook Page you can watch and listen the Ads and Interviews from this year.

5. Super clean audio with no static or buzz.

6. Better than Wireless Mics... No Lavs, No additional Noise from shirt or tie rubbing on mic and most importantly No Popping!

I will post some Photos from Interviews where its setup.

[Black] Good audio is very important. This mic comes with a cable, boom mount, mic stand mount and case. The sound is quite clear and cuts out surrounding noise quite well. A good investment as a middle of the line product.

[Hypercardioid] This is a great mic, but lacks a little on the lower freqs. Not a good mic if you're looking for a little fuller sound on the lower end. However this can be helped on post by bringing up the 50-100 Hz range, giving the lower freqs more presence. Highly directional and works well for general video and audio recording for in studio and on location. Seems to be well made. Shot a music production this past December and the client loved the audio produced with this mic. Had 2 mics on booms on a Panasonic 1500 video camera. Sound was great and it seems to produce very little self noise. Overall, great mic for location use.
