RadioPopper Jr2 Studio Kit Canon 3 Receivershas put together this RadioPopper Jr2 Studio Kit Canon 3 Receiversto give photographers the benefit of wireless triggering and power control at distances from 300-1750' away. The kit includes 1 Jr2 Transmitter and 3 Receivers.

Transmitter

The RadioPopper Jr2 Transmitter is a 16-channel, 4-group radio transmitter that operates on the 902-928 MHz, ISM band and is capable of adjusting the output of the flash using the kit's Jr2 receivers for Canon E-TTL/II flash units. Triggering and power control from distances of 300-1750' depending on conditions and environment is possible.

The transmitter's simplified, intuitive backlit display works on an easy to use button and dial design that indicates power levels, group selection, radio channel selection local or remote control and remaining battery power. The transmitter gets 20 hours of run time on 2 AAA batteries and weighs 1.7 oz. Triggering at sync speeds up to 1/500 sec is possible with cameras that have leaf shutters. The Jr2 Transmitter will also trigger a wide variety of RadioPopper receivers besides the Jr2 receiver but without power control.

Receiver

The RadioPopper Jr2 Receiver for Canon is a 16-channel, 4-group radio receiver that operates on the 902-928 MHz ISM band and is capable of adjusting the output of the flash using the kit's Jr2 Transmitter. Triggering and control range with both methods is from 300-1750' depending on conditions and environment.

The Jr2 receiver's simplified, intuitive backlit display works on an easy 2-button-Menu/Select principle that indicates power level, local, or remote control and remaining battery power. The receiver gets 8-10 hours of run time on 2 AAA batteries and weighs 1.9 oz. A 3.5mm sync cable, phono plug adapter, and 2.5mm adapter are included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How come there is a big difference in battery life specs between B&H and Radiopopper?B&H stated: Battery Life: Approx. 100 hours total power-on timeRadiopopper stated: Battery Life: Approx 8-10 Hours total power-on time

A: It is a web error and the batteries last on the receiver about 8-10 hours.

Q: 2. does this transmitter work with the power lights 1250 DR

A: The PocketWizard PlusX Transceiver B&H # WIPWPX can trigger the built in Pocket Wizard receiver in the PL1250DR monolight.

Q: 3. Will this trigger a Norman 200C flash?

A: You can check the compatibility by going to the Jr2 site and you will find the list of flashes it will trigger.

Q: 4. Can this unit be used to remotely trigger a camera?

A: The Jr2 is for remotely setting off flashes not to trigger a camera.

Q: 5. How do I select that I want this for canon camera? It says canon or Nikon optional but doesn't give the option to choose between the two. Does it somehow work for both? I added to cart and even then dos not give me the option to select canon or Nikon.

A: The JR2 transmitter actually works for both Nikon or Canon without changing any settings. The transmitter is triggered only by the center contact on the hotshoe. It doesn't use any of the proprietary contacts that communicate TTL exposure. You manually control flash output by manipulating the settings on the transmitter. The JR2 transmitter will allow you to use Nikon speedlights with Canon body or vice versa or even to mix Nikon and Canon and third-party speedlights in the same shot.

Q: 6. BH Photo, do you have EU version of this transmitter?

A: We offers a CE/Euro version of the PX-T, which is B&H # RAPXTCE. Please see the image for reference.

Q: 7. I wanted to know does these transmitters work with the powerlight 1250 Dr if somebody can give me that information that will be nice

A: This transmitter is not compatible with the Photogenic PowerLight 1250DR directly. You would need to add a receiver such as the RadioPopper Jr2 Receiver for Canon B&H # RAJR2RC in order to fire this monolight from the JR2 Transmitter.

Q: 8. Do you have EU version?

A: Unfortunately, we only offer this unit for use in the US under FCC guidelines.

Q: 9. Does this trigger work with the Canon r5?

A: Yes.

Q: 10. If I understand how these work, they just interpret the optical slave information into radio frequency, send the info to the receiver which then interprets it back into optical info. If that's the case, can this be used with Sony?

A: I'm using these with Nikon and the SU-800 commander and SB-910 and 800 speedlights. They do solve the problem of triggering flashes when the unit cannot see other units. There are several choices to do this. The advantage of this unit is that you can also change the output of the speedlights in the mix because that's what the commander unit does. I am not sure what functionality is provided by Sony. If you're only tring to trigger the flashes and not control the output then I would choose something from pocket wizard. The new Nikon speedlights have radio control built in eliminating the need for all of this.

[1 lb] The Radio Popper Nano receiver is very easy to use and is versatile. You can attach a flash directly to the receiver or plug it into your studio light. The receiver can also attach directly to a light stand. The Radio Popper Nano is available at a great price as well.

[1 lb] I use RadioPopper's JrX system for multi-strobe setups in product lighting and real estate interiors, and remote lighting inside Ancestral Puebloan ruins. Control of strobe output power at the camera lets me change a shot's 'look' on the fly, without having to visit each flash individually. It's the main reason I use RadioPoppers over my old Pocket Wizards. The only problem is the 1/8 stereo cables between RPCubes and JrX receivers - they can give bad connections and unreliable triggering. They've always been one point of failure I wanted to remove. The Jr2 receiver eliminates the RPCubes and their cables. Now I have reliable triggering and no worries. The Jr2 receiver's 10-hour battery life isn't a problem either. I use multiple sets of rechargeable AAA NiMH batteries, and I figure if a real estate interior session lasts longer than three hours, I'm in trouble. Battery power for my strobes and the RadioPoppers runs out about the same time anyway. I simply make sure I charge all the batteries before a shoot. Highly recommended, along with the Jr2 transmitter.

[902 to 928 MHz] The Radiopopper JR2 is reliable and easy to use. The fact that it is backward-compatible with my JRx Studio receivers means I don't have to shell out a bunch of money to significantly upgrade my whole setup. I can also use my older JRx transmitter along with the new JR2 transmitter to remotely fire my camera's shutter so I no longer have to use Pocketwizards for remote triggering.I have dealt with Radiopopper, the company, on a couple of occasions and I found them to be a first class customer service organization that stands behind their products. One time was regarding an out-of-warranty repair. Another time was a firmware update on some PX triggers I have. Both times the repairs were performed quickly and at little or no cost to me. I wish all companies could offer support like that.

[16] There are flash triggers out there that have more features but I just needed a trigger for in a small studio to isolate the camera from the pack. So far it is very reliable. A good choice for cost to value.

[1 lb] A perfect pairing to the Jr2 transmitter. Now includes a hot-shoe! Easy visual controls to set group & channel. Works flawlessly. Now using AA batteries is a huge plus over the more expensive CR123.

[902 to 928 MHz] Using for location shooting with Nikon and Alien Bee units.I love the new improved 4 channel and ittl that doesn't require using a RBcube. i canaccually see at a glance what power levels I am using on each channel on the Transmitter unit. Changing from the hard to find Cr123 to AAA batteries is a plus in my book.
