    Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this controller compatible with any Impact receiver? ...Similar to how Pocketwizard is.

A: No, it is not. At the time of this reply, the Impact Venture Wireless Controller with Canon Shoe is specifically designed for use with the Impact Venture TTL 600 Monolight, and will not work with any other Impact radio receiver currently in our inventory.

Q: 2. Thank you - so using this adapter on the FS5ii, do you need to select MI shoe for BOTH input 1 and input 2 to get two separate wireless mics? Or can you get three: a L and R mono for the shoe input on XLR #1 and then another for XLR #2?

A: Yes you will need to select MI. And you will not get 3 signals out of a dual channel wireless. One mic will go to 1 and the other to 2.

    Q: 3. can this trigger a pocket wizard TT5, I use multi-light set up?

A: This transmitter is strictly for triggering the Impact Venture monolights and it cannot trigger a Pocket Wizard transceiver.

Q: 4. Am using Profoto Air Remote in manual mode with my Fujifilm GFX. IT's gret as universal to most brands. There isn't a Venture trigger for Fujifilm GFX. I don't need TTL, how would I trigger the Venture 600 with Fujifilm GFX. What trigger would I have to get?

A: You have a few options. If you already own two (2) Profoto Air Remote Transceivers, you can have one connected to your camera's hot shoe while connecting the second to the 1/4 phone sync terminal of the Impact Venture TTL-600 Battery-Powered Monolight by using either the Profoto Male 1/4 Phono to Male 3.5mm Miniphone Cable - 11.8 , B&H # PRPMMPM , or the more economical Impact Sync Cord Male Mini to Male Phono (16 ), B&H # IMMMPM16. This would work the same as your current system, with the only main difference being you would not be able to control the light's output power or modeling lamps from the on-camera transmitter; you would have to set the light output manually on the Impact Venture monolight fixture. The other option would be to purchase the Impact Venture Wireless Controller with Nikon Shoe and simply use the remote in manual mode (as TTL mode would not be compatible with your camera). This should still allow you to control the flash output power from the on-camera transmitter.

Q: 5. 1. Can you confirm this can add two channels to an FS5ii - this in addition to the two connections on the camera itself? 2. Would this paired with the Sony URX-P03D allow a Sony A7Sii to record two separate channels of audio? So in post you'd get for example the wireless lav on the left channel and a second wireless lav on the right channel?

A: The two channels it will add are not level adjustable.

Q: 6. How long will the batteries last on the controller?

A: Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not list the battery life on this controller, but it is recommended to remove the AAA batteries when storing the controller for long periods of time.

Q: 7. it can be used on a Sony 6600? as a shoe to lift the flash an or mic.

A: The Sony SMAD-P3D is used for receiving a 2-channel audio signal from a Sony URX-P03D wireless receiver without XLR cables. The Sony a6600 Mirrorless Camera is listed with a Sony MI shoe so it would be compatible with the SMAD-P3D.

Q: 8. I am shooting with the A7SIII and have been using the UTX-P03D. When I use the dual channel SMAD Unit, the ability to control audio levels in camera is suddenly disabled. Also the in the menu the (MI Shoe Audio Set) option is grayed out, not allowing me to control my levels anymore. Because of this I've been using the 2 channel Sony provided 3.5mm jack. Am I missing something, or does this SMAD unit only provide auto gain with no ability to control audio levels?

A: Awaiting a Call-Back from Sony on this, to confirm compatibility/usability with the A7s iii. One "theory" is that the A7siii is a "consumer" product and may not be (fully?) compatible. The Sony URX-P03D wireless receiver is to used with interface Sony SMAD-P5 Digital MI Shoe Adapter for UWP-D Series. ( https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1484185-REG/sony_smadp5_digital_mi_shoe.html). This is stated as applicable to SELECT Sony cameras (the A7s iii is not listed-see below): Key Features For UWP-D Series URX-P40 Receiver For Camcorders/Cameras with MI Shoe Digital Audio and Data Connection Switchable to Analog Connection Cable-Free Setup Show More The compact Sony SMAD-P5 is a digital Multi Interface (MI) Shoe adapter that allows you to mount the UWP-D Series URX-P40 receiver on select Sony camcorders and cameras equipped with the MI shoe architecture. The adapter eliminates the need for connecting cables, speeding your setup in the field. More Details The adapter also offers seamless integration with the Sony a7R IV and A9 II mirrorless cameras, the PXW-Z280/PXW-Z190 XDCAM camcorders, and the PXW-FX9 camera

Q: 9. Does this work with the A7s iii?

A: Yes it will , Sony has the same Multi-Interface Shoe on all Mirrorless cameras

Q: 10. Does this ONLY work with dual channel receivers? I would like option to upgrade receivers with same she adapter in the future.

A: Yea, turns out you have to buy it, then find the answer buried in the tiny instruction manual . B&H: This kind of info needs to be in the description!! More $ to UPS.

[3 (A, B, C)] If you've got a recent Sony camera that has a smart hot-shoe (check the list...mine was on it), this adapter works great with the Sony Digital Receiver(s) to transmit audio directly without need for another wire. Super cool for gimbal work.

[2x AAA] The Sony SMAD-P3D adapter works great with my Sony RX10M3. The line level can be adjusted at the URX-P03D output level setting. This gives the Camera 2 wireless and 1 lapel microphones.

I hope this works with the Sony RX100M8 when it is finally released as it is rumored to have a hot shoe.

[Hot Foot] In other previous reviews, I have read that this adapter doesnt work with the FS5.  However, after trying it out, it DOES work as intended!  No need for batteries or cables for the receiver.  Just connect it and plug it in.  I am able to manually control both channels individually, and signal is clean.  Very happy with this and highly recommend it.  The only con I can think of is that this unit is made of plastic and sits high atop the handle, making it susceptible to breakage if you accidentally swing the camera into a doorway.
