Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What are the pros and cons to titanium vs. aluminum? I curious as to why titanium is cheaper???

A: The BBGv2 is designed for cameras with a grip or taller bodied cameras. The material is all T6061 Aircraft Aluminum and anodized black. The only titanium piece is the front rotation area. We use that for wear resistance. The BBGv2 in Titanium (color) is just anodized in a silver Titanium finish put on the arm. It's still Aluminum. The price is in violation of our sales policy. Pick it up quick! It's suppose to be $362.45!

Q: 2. Which ProMediaGear accessory I need to attach second flash on other side as shown in one of the picture?

A: The part number for the L shaped bracket only is BP1 but unfortunately we do not sell it without the PBX3 plate.

Q: 3. The listed weight is 1lb, but what is it for the Titanium version?

A: The BBX series of flash bracket: Weight: 15.2 oz - 432 grams (12.7 oz - 361 grams without Plate) The titanium is an anodized process, not actually a titanium arm (silver). The weight is the same on all colors.

Q: 4. Will this work with a RRS L Bracket?

A: The BBX Boomerang Flash Bracket comes complete with a Universal Arca Swiss Bracket Plate specifically designed for the Flash Bracket. To use RRS or similar Arca plates and L-Brackets PMG Manufactures a CB60 Clamp that will allow you to use your current plate and lock it into the Arca-Type clamp that will allow the Flash Bracket to install onto the side. You will need to purchase the BBX or BBGv2 Boomerang Flash Bracket and also the CB60 Clamp with BBX mounting pins.

Q: 5. What hand do you hold the bracket with?

A: This bracket is made for use on the right side of the camera in front of the camera's grip where your right hand will go. It doesn't appear that you have to hold the bracket but you'd use your right hand to control the movements.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with the Really Right Stuff L Bracket?

A: The Custom or Universal Arca-Type Bracket Plates manufactured by ProMediaGear are modular and unique to the Bracket Plate System. The Custom or Universal L-Brackets glides into the Bracket Plate on hardened steel rods and can be removed or installed quickly with 2 set screws. If you wish to keep your current brand L-Bracket on camera PMG has a Bracket Plate Clamp that will allow the Boomerang to attach to your current Arca-Type plate. The clamp is called the CB60 or newer version CB60v2. The CB60 and CB60v2 works with Kirk and similar Arca-Type plates as well.

Q: 7. Will this work if you have a battery grip on the camera?

A: Yes, The BBX is Universal and will adjust to fit both standard DSLR's and Taller Bodies or Bodies with Grip. The only thing to be aware of is that when going into a vertical photo on taller cameras or cameras with grip the quick disconnect knob will be in the webbing of your thumb and first finger. This is only noticeable if you use the trigger button mounted on the battery or bottom side of taller bodied cameras. If you use a taller bodied camera or camera with grip all the time check out the ProMediaGear BBG. This design is specifically for those cameras and will not work with standard DSLR's. The disconnect feature is different on the BBG and won't interfere with any traditional shooting style.

Q: 8. Looks like a great bracket! How about a left hand version?

A: This one is not reversible, but they do sell a left side version. Heck, you can mount one one both sides!

Q: 9. Can this bracket be attached to a tripod or monopod?

A: Absolutely. The Bracket Plate on the Bottom (PBX3-BD) is Arca Type. 1.5 width. To attach to non-Arca Standard Heads there are 1/4-20 screw holes on the bottom to mount a plate.

Q: 10. How is this different from version I that was discontinued?

A: The difference in design is the discontinued version only works with tall cameras like ones with a battery grip. The new version can work with a camera with or without a grip.

[1.65 lb] It is good, one setback, the screw was unable to move, I need to replace with my own purchased screw which I bought sometime back.
Though is a small screw, but it add to customers experiences.

[1.65 lb] As a retired professional photographer I have used many off camera flash brackets. This is the best materials and construction are top notch. It is not too heavy and is easy to remove when not needed.

[Flash Rotating] I use this to mount a B2 (which requires an adaptor- not included). As far as on camera flash goes, the Boomerang BBGV2 is hands-down the best option. It's incredibly build and insanely modular. I purchased a side handle to attach to the other side of plate so that I didn't have to put undue pressure on the lens mount when raising my camera from my side (I shoot on the 1DXII so the rig gets heavy). Pros: Best build I've seen. Quickly- and securely- transition to portrait orientation Incredibly modular Cons: Expensive There are other options for brackets if all you have is a speedlight. For my purposes of rocking a B2, however, this bracket is the best option there is.

[1.65 lb] Flash brackets are often a necessary evil when using a powerful flash. I use the Canon EL-1 Speedlite and with its instant recycling and power comes weight. I often worry about hanging that kind of weight off the hot shoe on my Canon R5. Plus the problem shooting a vertical means the flash is off to the side.

When you use a hot shoe mounted flash, the light hits the subject straight on and is typically not as flattering as elevating the flash slightly.

Using the ProMediaGear BBGV2 Boomerang Flash Bracket solves a couple of issues. (1) the weight of the flash is now supported by the bracket and (2) switching from vertical to horizontal is quick and easy. The bracket raises the flash above the lens and avoids the straight-on flash which tends to make your shots contrasty and harsh.

Not svelte and sexy the ProMediaGear bracket looks like something a machinist would design but it gets the job done. What's cool is that the bracket locks into position and a squeeze of the little handle unlocks it.
