The EastWest The Dark Side Virtual Instrument Downloadfrom EastWest The Dark Side Virtual Instrument Downloadis a virtual instrument created and produced by Doug Rogers (EastWest) and David Fridmann (MGMT, The Flaming Lips). It is an unconventional and exciting collection of instruments, some dark and eerie, and some which have been purposely and skillfully mangled, distorted, or processed out of all recognition.

The 40GB collection includes highly processed drums and percussion, basses, guitars, ethnic, keyboard, strings and effected instruments, all organized into instrumental groups, making it easier to create complete tracks. Many individual instruments were originally processed through 5 or 6 effects units, some of the vintage and esoteric tube variety owned by the producers.

The distorted and mangled instruments are designed to stand out in a mix, and/or disturb the senses. It will provide inspiration for all composers and artists looking for something unique and different, whether working in music, film, TV, or game music production. The software utilizes a dedicated Opus playback engine, which provides a searchable browser and the ability for users to customize their sounds. It is compatible with Mac and Windows. It runs as standalone software or operates in AU, VST, or AAX formats.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this clamp be used on a Manfrotto carbon fiber medium boom extension to clamp around the boom so as to provide a microphone mounting surface on the boom?

A: It will clamp to any pole or column under 1.75". Just be careful not to crush the carbon fiber as these clamps to have a good amount of clamping force.

Q: 2. can a pair of the "quick action" super clamps be used to connect a crossbar to 2 autopoles for backdrops?

A: Two of the Manfrotto 635 Quick Action Super Clamps cannot be used alone to connect a crossbar to autopoles or stands. Two of the Manfrotto 038 Double Super Clamps (B&H # MA038) are a better choice.

Q: 3. If I am recording a Powerpoint presentation (in PP) does the laser pointer get recorded also or is it just a display pointer?

A: The virtual pointer will be recorded.

Q: 4. How large is the bowl for the half-bowl leveler? The Manfrotto website says both 60 and 75.

A: The Manfrotto Virtual Reality Aluminum Base with Half Ball Leveler has a 60-75mm bowl--it is adjustable.

Q: 5. Is this the correct stud to attach a standard tripod head (such as the 494RC2)? If not what stud should I order please?

A: The stud included with this Super Clamp would not have the correct screw thread to fit a 494 RC2. What is best to use is the Manfrotto 208HEX Head Mounting Plate with Hex Stud - 3/8 Thread B&H # MA208HEX which connects into the hex slot on the Super Clamp and has a tripod base plate on top with a 3/8 thread for attaching a head like the 494RC2. Please see the image below for reference.

Q: 6. What is the part # of the pole attached to this base as in the photo?

A: There are two different poles pictured. The small pole is MBOOMCFVR-SUS, the medium pole is MBOOMCFVR-MUS and the large one (not pictured) is MBOOMCFVR-LUS

Q: 7. How do I connect the pouch to the Easyrig Minimax? (Can't find any guides online)

A: The Easyrig Side Pouch is not compatible with the Easyrig Minimax. The compatible pouch would be the Easyrig Side Pouch for Minimax System, B&H # EAMM045.

Q: 8. Currently building up our studio capabilities of shooting top down video from the ceiling, I am looking for a clamp that can support the weight of a Canon 5D with lens to a pole from above. Would this clamp and head work for this setup or what would you recommend?

A: The Manfrotto Super Clamp with 056 3-D Junior Head can support a total of 6.6 lbs. and I would not go over 5 lbs. And less would be safer. If your camera and lens combined is less than you should be fine. If you want other suggestions it is best you contact us direct in chat or over the phones to discuss this.

Q: 9. Can the articulated arm be attached directly to this or is something additional needed?

A: Articulating arms with a baby pin/5ths stud or a 1/4 20 thread can be attached directly.

Q: 10. What is the smallest diameter tripod leg this can effectively clamp onto?

A: The Manfrotto Super Clamp can close to 0" so you should be able to use it on any tripod leg.

[Educational] Pianoteq 5 Standard software is outstanding and gives any musician a lot of flexibility in shaping piano sounds to your liking. B&H sold it for a great price too!

[Educational] It's not a big sample library but the bell tones are excellent! I could not find a comparable library for this type of bell sound from the other big name sample library companies, so this fills a niche missed by others.
