Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the chroma optimizer have to be installed for the printer to work?

A: Yes, it does.

Q: 2. Are all 10 inks archival? If not, under favorable conditions, how long are they designed to last?

A: The inks in the Canon PFI-300 Ten Color Ink Tank Pack are all pigment based archival inks. The prints can last between 100 and 300 years depending on the type of paper and storage conditions.

Q: 3. Can I mix different size cartridges? Especially 700ml and smaller 110ml cartridges? I use a lot of black ink and much less of the colored inks.

A: Yes. As the smaller tanks ran out I added the larger ones. I still have one small left. There doesn't seem to be any issue with the different sizes. in

Q: 4. how many prints per a cartridge?

A: The number of prints per cartridge will vary greatly with any inkjet printer. The variables would be the image content, paper type, printer settings and the print size. Therefore neither we nor Canon can offer an estimated number of prints per cartridge.

Q: 5. As a very rough approximation, how many full color 8x10 pages could be printed with one ink set?

A: This printer hasn't been available yet nor is the ink. The ink tanks have 14.4 ml in each tank which is .4 of a mil more than the ink of its predecessor the Canon Pro 10 14 ml tanks. It all depends on the colors & density of each print, for example: you might use 2 magentas b4 you finish 1 cyan & some prints have lighter backgrounds. Even Canon can't give you an approximate answer & only experience will tell. The print quality of these printers are 'out of this world' so even if prints are a bit pricey it pays off by far.

Q: 6. how many pages will the cartridges print on Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000???

A: No way to answer this question. Depends on so many things. Paper, sizes, color, B&W, graphics, photos, head cleaning rituals - to name a few.

Q: 7. Is there an expiration date on the ink cartridges. If so, how long do they typically last? Need this to decide whether to go with 330ml or 700 ml.

A: Ink cartridges will usually have a manufacturing date as opposed to an expiration date (some may). The general idea is that cartridges are good for up to 18 months after manufacturing. Keeping cartridges in their sealed packaging prevents them from drying out.

Q: 8. What is the amount of ink used when replacing an empty ink tank?

A: When you use the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 printer for the first time after you install the bundled ink tanks, the printer consumes a small amount of ink in the amount to enable printing by filling the nozzles of the Print Head with ink. For this reason, the number of sheets that can be printed with the first ink tanks is fewer than the succeeding ink tanks, which would not subsequently require filling the print heads. The printing costs described in the brochures or websites are based on the consumption data from not the first ink tank /ink cartridge but the succeeding ink tank /ink cartridge. Ink is sometimes used to maintain the optimal printing quality as well.

Q: 9. Does this set work with the Canon imageprograf PRO-500 sold in Asia?

A: No, this would be for use in a US Canon Printer.

Q: 10. on average, how many prints would one get from a cartridge - 11x14 prints?

A: Unfortuantely Canon does not specify ink yields for the Canon PFI-1100 inks. Ink yields will vary based on content being printed, media printed on, and the environment in which one is printing. For this reason, ink yields are not provided for these inks.

[Ink Tank] This is a good way to get started if you got a new Canon 300. After you get going you can purchase the cartridges one at a time by color. To get going this is a convenient way to go!

[Ink Optimizer] I wish I was buying something big and fun (which I do sometimes), but this time, just an ink cartridge for my Cannon Pro 2100. Of course it was here in no time, and never interrupted my printing!
