Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what is the shelf of the ink once it is installed in the printer?

A: No clear answer. I asked Canon, but only got vague assurance that there was no set expiration.

Q: 2. What is the amount of ink used when replacing an empty ink tank?

A: When you use the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 printer for the first time after you install the bundled ink tanks, the printer consumes a small amount of ink in the amount to enable printing by filling the nozzles of the Print Head with ink. For this reason, the number of sheets that can be printed with the first ink tanks is fewer than the succeeding ink tanks, which would not subsequently require filling the print heads. The printing costs described in the brochures or websites are based on the consumption data from not the first ink tank /ink cartridge but the succeeding ink tank /ink cartridge. Ink is sometimes used to maintain the optimal printing quality as well.

Q: 3. Are there region coding for the Pro 300 ink cartridges?

A: Yes, the ink cartridges would have a region coded chip.

Q: 4. As a very rough approximation, how many full color 8x10 pages could be printed with one ink set?

A: This printer hasn't been available yet nor is the ink. The ink tanks have 14.4 ml in each tank which is .4 of a mil more than the ink of its predecessor the Canon Pro 10 14 ml tanks. It all depends on the colors & density of each print, for example: you might use 2 magentas b4 you finish 1 cyan & some prints have lighter backgrounds. Even Canon can't give you an approximate answer & only experience will tell. The print quality of these printers are 'out of this world' so even if prints are a bit pricey it pays off by far.

Q: 5. Is there any problem shipping this in freezing outdoor winter temperatures, where it might be left outside for hours before getting home to take it indoors. I am talking about temperatures in the 10-30 degree F range?

A: I've had some left outside in both hot and cold weather. I would NEVER install while the cartridge is icy cold. Wait until it slowly warms up to room temperature (wait a day). Give it a little extra agitation (shake it so you are sure it's mixed - which you should do anyway as part of Canon's recommendation).

Q: 6. on average, how many prints would one get from a cartridge - 11x14 prints?

A: Unfortuantely Canon does not specify ink yields for the Canon PFI-1100 inks. Ink yields will vary based on content being printed, media printed on, and the environment in which one is printing. For this reason, ink yields are not provided for these inks.

Q: 7. Will the Canon PFI-1300 cartridge, designed for the Pro-4000 work in the Pro-4100?

A: The Canon PFI-1300 Yellow Pigment Ink Tank (BH #CAPFI1300Y) is compatible with the Canon imagePROGRAF Pro-4100 Printer.

Q: 8. Are all 10 inks archival? If not, under favorable conditions, how long are they designed to last?

A: The inks in the Canon PFI-300 Ten Color Ink Tank Pack are all pigment based archival inks. The prints can last between 100 and 300 years depending on the type of paper and storage conditions.

Q: 9. Can I mix different size cartridges? Especially 700ml and smaller 110ml cartridges? I use a lot of black ink and much less of the colored inks.

A: Yes. As the smaller tanks ran out I added the larger ones. I still have one small left. There doesn't seem to be any issue with the different sizes. in

Q: 10. What is the shelf life of Canon PFI-1300 ink? In other words how long can I store a new sealed tank before it goes bad?

A: These inks have a shelf life of 18-24 months.

[Photo Gray] Tried purchasing these through a large mail order service and had issues (not sure if they were knock offs or?). I have always been satisfied with the quality of items sold and the delivery service involved
