Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. As a very rough approximation, how many full color 8x10 pages could be printed with one ink set?

A: This printer hasn't been available yet nor is the ink. The ink tanks have 14.4 ml in each tank which is .4 of a mil more than the ink of its predecessor the Canon Pro 10 14 ml tanks. It all depends on the colors & density of each print, for example: you might use 2 magentas b4 you finish 1 cyan & some prints have lighter backgrounds. Even Canon can't give you an approximate answer & only experience will tell. The print quality of these printers are 'out of this world' so even if prints are a bit pricey it pays off by far.

Q: 2. Is this compatible with canon pro 2100?

A: Yes the Canon PFI-1300 Photo Magenta Pigment Ink Tank (330mL) is compatible with the Canon Pro 2100.

Q: 3. What is the amount of ink used when replacing an empty ink tank?

A: When you use the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 printer for the first time after you install the bundled ink tanks, the printer consumes a small amount of ink in the amount to enable printing by filling the nozzles of the Print Head with ink. For this reason, the number of sheets that can be printed with the first ink tanks is fewer than the succeeding ink tanks, which would not subsequently require filling the print heads. The printing costs described in the brochures or websites are based on the consumption data from not the first ink tank /ink cartridge but the succeeding ink tank /ink cartridge. Ink is sometimes used to maintain the optimal printing quality as well.

Q: 4. What is the shelf-life unopened?

A: Unopened ink should last 2 years if stored in a cool dark, and safe space.

Q: 5. Are there region coding for the Pro 300 ink cartridges?

A: Yes, the ink cartridges would have a region coded chip.

Q: 6. on average, how many prints would one get from a cartridge - 11x14 prints?

A: Unfortuantely Canon does not specify ink yields for the Canon PFI-1100 inks. Ink yields will vary based on content being printed, media printed on, and the environment in which one is printing. For this reason, ink yields are not provided for these inks.

Q: 7. What is the shelf life of an unopened set of ink and also when in use?

A: If properly sealed, the ink should easily last for more than a year when stored appropriately. As for opened ink, the cartridges should be installed, and the Canon large format printer should be left on. That way the Canon large format printer will perform an electronic nozzle check periodically to maintain the cartridge. It uses only a small amount of ink to do that, and that process does keep the ink fresh and usable indefinitely. (Please note that this comment does not necessarily apply to non Canon or non large format printers.)

Q: 8. Can I mix different size cartridges? Especially 700ml and smaller 110ml cartridges? I use a lot of black ink and much less of the colored inks.

A: Yes. As the smaller tanks ran out I added the larger ones. I still have one small left. There doesn't seem to be any issue with the different sizes. in

Q: 9. Is there an expiration date on the ink cartridges. If so, how long do they typically last? Need this to decide whether to go with 330ml or 700 ml.

A: Ink cartridges will usually have a manufacturing date as opposed to an expiration date (some may). The general idea is that cartridges are good for up to 18 months after manufacturing. Keeping cartridges in their sealed packaging prevents them from drying out.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with canon pro 2100?

A: Yes the Canon PFI-1300 Photo Gray Pigment Ink Tank (330mL) is compatible with the Canon Pro 2100.
