Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The Matthews MINIVATOR II 142 will fit in this one?

A: Yes

Q: 2. What is the load capacity at maximum extension for this boom arm?

A: The maximum load capacity at the maximum extension on the Matthews Junior Boom is 25 lbs.

Q: 3. Is this stable enough for camera use? Can it have a PTZ on the end of it for example and not sway or shake when the PTZ moves around?

A: The general rule is that what you put on the boom should be half of the boom's support weight. Which is 20 lbs. So, a camera with the lens really should be 10 lbs. or less.

Q: 4. A review mentions using the boom to attach a DSLR for overhead photos. What adapter is used to attach a camera?

A: Hi Jeff, I attach my manfrotto tripod head to this adapter. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1046652-REG/matthews_350625_baby_pin_adapter.html

Q: 5. How tall can it set with the boom arm out ?

A: The boom arm on the Kupo 546M K Stand Junior Boom Stand can extend to 61-110 inches.

Q: 6. Is it a 5/8 baby pin for the light stand connection?

A: Yes, there is. The pin under the center of the arm is a 1-1/8 inch junior connector, but under that is a 5/8 inch baby receiver. I personally recommend using the larger junior connector for its strength and support, especially for booming heavy items or when the boom arm is fully extended, but it does have the 5/8 receiver if needed.

Q: 7. Is it possible to lower the center column to the ground in order to improve stability with a forth point of contact and also to make the minimum height less (just like on a regular combo cine stand)?

A: While it may be possible for the center of the light stand base to connect to the floor, the Kupo 546M K Stand Junior Boom Stand would not be the most stable in this configuration. It would be best to have the legs spread out to the maximum width, and you may use the boom feature of the stand to boom the light fixture to a lower height than when the center column is used upright.

Q: 8. what is the max extention on the boom arm?

A: The boom arm of the Kupo Junior Boom Roller Stand (B&H# KUKS301512) at longer extensions will typically require a counterweight (e.g. a sandbag like B&H# IMSBFO15) and the degree to which it may be extended will vary by the relative distances from the point at which it attaches to the stand and those of the counterweight, on the one hand, and light (or other addition), on the other. Although the boom arm is about 60" long when fully extended, it should not be used at full extension and counterweighting is essential.

Q: 9. When completely collapsed and laying on its side, how tall is it off the floor? I would like to slide it under something in my truck.

A: The lowest profile of the collapsed Mini Max is 6.25" tall(laying on its back). Laying on its side the height is 7.25" due to the rocky mountain leg t-handle sticking up.

Q: 10. Can i use it with the stand (Matthews MINIVATOR II)?

A: Yes

[2] I own 8 of these across two studios. While big and heavy (you will want to use them with a crank stand) they are rock solid and the right tool for large scrims or light instruments that need to be high and far away. It’s extremely well built as you would expect. I have not found any other brand that does this job as well as this one does.

[68 x 8 x 7"] I use the boom for recording audio, and specifically, for hanging a heavy decca tree microphone array. It is well balanced, and could handle much more than I use it for. I would highly recommend this product for any need for a heavyweight, quality boom.

[2] Heavy and awkward... But so much better and safer than using a turtle stand shaft and a cardellini mounted to a Jr stand. It *has* to be heavy and awkward to really work. The handle has a great brake in it...I was unfamiliar with it based on using other MSE products (it's kind of like the disc brake on the Arri T1 and other lights...) It seems to grip really strongly. Of course, having the boom, you have plenty of counterweight, so you're not over-relying on the strength of the handle or how tight you can snug it up.

[2] This stand is not only very high quality workmanship but it is the most versatile stand I have ever seen or owned. You can use it as a normal stand or convert it to a boom and hold more than 60lbs. of weight. I have 2 of these stands and will be ordering 2 more them since they are that good. I also got the wheels with these to make them very easy to move. By far the best stand I have ever used.

[68 x 8 x 7"] I use this with my Nanlite Forza 720B. It's nice having a boom built into the stand when needed. When not using it as a boom having a 16ft combo stand. Build quality is great. quality seems as good as my Matthews stands. I have a Matthews boom that cost $500 that I use with my windup stand. The Matthews is rated at 25lb at full extension The Kupo 546M K Stand Junior Boom Stand cost $420 and is rated 17.6lb full extension and I get best of both worlds.

[46.5 lb] We use this stand for heavy duty lighting situations in the field or booming a mic long distance where stability is key. The mechanics of the system are very well made and have not disappointed us. We have a few brand name stands (Manfrotto etc) and they perform very well. Kupo is new to our inventory and after only a few uses I highly recommended it.
