Q: 4. Do you know if this will fit in the lid of a Pelican 1520?

A: I'll just go ahead and answer my own question in case anyone else is wondering - yes, it fits! Just a tiny bit of squish-age action (maybe an 1/8th of an inch), but it fits and it works!

A: It's a very tight fit. Not much extra room

Q: 6. Will this case hold a Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II lens standing up (vertical), or does it have to lay down (horizontal)?

A: The lens is about 8" long and the dimensions of the case are 20.4 x 11.4 x 7.5", so the lens will fit in two of the dimensions, but not in the third, shortest, dimension.

[1.8 lb] This is a great place to stash my laptop on flights with little worries about it getting banged about. It fits perfectly and allows for far less jostling of my laptop than the Pelican solution. Would buy again if it ever did break, which I can't imagine it would. One issue is the strength of the velcro, but it's sufficient thus far. 5

[1.8 lb] This lid/laptop organizer is a great addition to the pelican 1510 case. I am able to put my Sony FS5, lenses, batteries, hard drives and MacBook Air all in one case for production in the go. 5
