A: The tray can be removed by sliding off the rails. You have to fold down a little metal flag to allow the tray to slide off.

Q: 4. Can I use the Ethernet port on this unit like a server (similar to NAS)? I'm thinking to have this connected to our Ethernet switch so that people in our building can review what I will be working on without needing my supervision or having to come to my workstation. Is this possible?

A: This unit only supports a Thunderbolt 3 type connection. It also would not support any ethernet connection via an adapter as it lacks the necessary drivers to do so.

Q: 5. Does the rear of the case have rails, as well, or is it only the front?

A: The SKB Soft Case only has front rails.

A: Yes, it comes with all three.

A: SKB has not provided a weight limit for the SC193U Soft Rack Case.

Q: 8. Is it possible to simply move the 8 drives from my 8050T2 into this unit without having to migrate data and rebuild the whole thing?

A: You will need to rebuild the RAID for safety measure.

A: The Avid Pro Tools HDX Thunderbolt 3 Rackmount Chassis is designed for use with the HDX PCie Card only.

Q: 10. how do you connect this device with Thunderbolt 3 to a MacPro that only has Thunderbolt 2?

A: I am sorry, but your computer would need to have Thunderbolt 3 for this to work.

[2x 3.5" ] I did an AMD 5600 build at work and liked it so much I had to do it at home with my 7700x. You can only get 4x 3.5 HDD drives with an mATX board so if you want 7 then plan on using ITX. I am putting this at the top of my Echogear U20 because it is the perfect depth for the top slots that don't let the chassis slide out the back since there are support brackets at the back of the top slots. Everything seems to fit together perfectly, no complaints. Most compact function system I own here or in the office 5
