It is protected by an advanced sixth-order crossover. The speaker has a 1,000W continuous (4,000W peak) power handling capability to provide a strong, distortion-free performance. The rotatable constant-directivity waveguide horn provides a 60° x 40° coverage pattern.

The speaker itself features a trapezoidal plywood and MDF enclosure with an internal bracing and is fronted by a 16ga steel grille. It features six 3/8" threaded points for eyebolt suspension (two on each side and two on the rear side of the enclosure).

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the difference between the EKX-12P and the EKX-12? Both are powered speakers.

A: The main difference between the Electro-Voice EKX-12P 12" Two-Way Powered Loudspeaker and the Electro-Voice EKX Series EKX-12 12" Two-Way Loudspeaker is the digital signal processing (DSP) functionality built into the EKX-12P, which is not a feature of the EKX-12. The EKX-12P also features a wider frequency response of 60 Hz to 18 kHz compared to 82 Hz to 18 kHz on the EKX-12, as well as a slightly louder Maximum SPL rating on the EKX-12P.

Q: 2. Is the Crown XLi 1500 capable of powering 2 of these speakers?

A: Yes, the Crown XLi 1500 Stereo Power Amplifier can be used to power a pair of the Yamaha CBR15 Portable 2-Way 15" 1000W Passive Loudspeakers.

Q: 3. Is the Crown Audio XLS 1502 capable of driving two pairs of these 15" speakers? Is it a good choice of amp for this case?

A: The Crown Audio XLS 1502 is ideal for driving one pair of the CBR15 speakers.

Q: 4. are these weather proof?

A: These are not weather rated loudspeakers.

Q: 5. Is this just a subwoofer or can it be used as a speaker?

A: The Yamaha CBR15 is not a subwoofer. It is a 2-way passive speaker with a 15" woofer that provides the lowest frequency extension in Yamaha's Bass Reflex series of speakers. The Bass Reflex series also includes the CBR12 which has a 12" woofer and the CBR10 which has a 10" woofer. The CBR15 is suitable for use in a wide variety of applications for live sound and DJ systems, and it can also be used as a floor monitor.

A: The MB200W bracket is compatible with the SX100+

Q: 7. Can I use old Marantz receiver:2230 with 30W RMS per channel ?

A: These speakers require much more power than 30 watts. I would recommend the Bose 161 Full-Range Bookshelf Speakers (Black, Pair), BH #BO161B, which can handle 10 to 100 watts.

Q: 8. Can I use old Marantz receiver 2230 with 30 watt RMS per channel

A: You will be under powering the speakers, and can cause damage to the receiver.

Q: 9. This says it's the classic, yet the pictures shows the black label?

A: The Electro-Voice EVM12L Classic 12 is the Classic 12. It is not the Zakk Wylde signature version. The Black Label simply is to convey that it is EVs high performance line. The only way you can tell the difference aside from the price, is the manufacturers part number. The Zakk Wylde version # F.01U.273.861 ends in the number 1 and the Classic 12 is # F.01U.273.862 ends in a 2.

Q: 10. Can this work on 240V Ac input without changing fuse ?

A: Yes the Electro-Voice ETX-10P Portable Powered Loudspeaker is 100-240V compatible.

[Passive] We use this as a floor monitor for our church's praise band. We had just one we purchased quite some time ago, and decided to add another of the same one (since we were so happy with it). We have no sound issues with it (no hiss or buzz), and are completely happy with the output. It serves our use perfectly.

[139 dB] This is an amazing loudspeaker. It's well-built, rugged and easy to handle. We purchased this to replace a speaker in a school gym; the sound quality and clarity and unmatched. Be aware of the connecter ports look similar to XLRs, but are in fact Speakon NL4FC Ports; they can be easily refitted with XLR is needed.

[Passive] I have bought this speaker at three different churches for small floor monitors. They fit on a single step. They sound great and have a natural sound. The price is great, too.

[103 dB, 1 W/1 m] Really natural sounding speaker in a tough but lightweight cabinet. Versatli can be a floor wedge, stuck on a stick or flown with the optional eyebolts or mounting bracket.

[115 lb] I run a system in my church and currently own 6 of this speakers. 2 are elevated main for Highs and mid on 2000 watt amps and a driverack. The other 4 are stage monitors 2 on 1000 w amps and 2 on 2000 watt amps all the ones that are use for monitors are running in full range. They have awesome High and mid, and for the size the low is not bad at all. Great response when used with a drive rack or crossover. Really light and really heavy duty. Would recommend to anyone.

[115 lb] I've been a JBL person for many years, but I must say that putting this speaker next to my JBl JRX112M (the same speaker configuration), blew me away. I never thought JBL could be surpassed. I was wrong. This EV speaker did it. As a pro musician for many years, I rate this at the top 3 speakers in it's class, if not the top of the heap. I love the light weight for transporting, as I have to move my equipment 5 nights per week in Las Vegas. The sound reproduction is great. It actually put out more volume at the same mixer setting than the JBL. There are two things I would like to see changed. The handles should be on top (as the JBL), not on the sides. This will make the speaker easier to grab and load into a vehicle, instead of bending over and reaching for the handle on the side. Another change I would like to see, is that the cabinet would have both Speakon and 1/4 inputs, as some mixers don't have Speakon outputs, therefore requiring you to buy an adaptor. The JBL has both Speakon and 1/4 inputs. Otherwise, this speaker is an excellent choice...
