Sporting red HDD handles, the iStarUSA 4 RU 12-Bay Stylish Storage Server Trayless Rackmountable Chassis Kit is designed for storing up to twelve 3.5" Hotswap HDDs. It features SAS I/II & SATA I/II/III interfaces.

This D Storm Series chassis supports up to 12 x 13" E-ATX, ATX, or micro-ATX motherboards in addition to up to seven full-length and full-height add-on cards and a total capacity of up to 12 storage drives for RAID configuration. Two 120mm cooling fans on the sides provide adequate ventilation to prevent critical equipment from heat damage. It provides server or cluster configuration with maximum reliability and performance.

Q: 9. Does this bay come with drives?

A: Not sure if this Q has been answered, but no it does not. However, I have 4 of these units now, spanning over 3 years, and they are FANTASTIC units. VERY reliable. I can't compare/comment on price with other like units except that I found it closely priced, but I don't care anymore. Reliability and safety of media assets has far outweighed cost.

Q: 10. Is this a single rack rail or a pair of rack rails?

[ATX] Well built patch bay does what it’s supposed to. Only niggle is the switches for normal/half normal are difficult to get to once it’s all plugged in but I never need to change them so it’s not a big deal 5

[ATX] Absolutely love this case. I have a couple of other mini i-itx servers and this case is by far the best. Greatest feature is that it's trayless so just a matter of popping in a bare hard drive without messing with carriers. Very high quality. 5

[7x Low-Profile] I needed to patch 500 series modules (compressors etc.) in line with the output of my mic preamps. I bought two of the ART P48 patch bays and installed them in my rack. I have one patch panel for the outputs of the preamps to patch directly to the DAW. I have another patch panel set up and connected to my 500 series rack chassis as send and return inputs. I can use short patch cords between the two P48s to reroute the outputs of the preamps to the inputs of the 500 series module and back to the DAW inputs. The P48 is very well built and makes it easy to configure my routing quickly. 5
