The iStarUSA D410-DE15SL Kit includes a 4U 10-Bay Stylish Storage Server Rackmount and a 15 x 3.5" Trayless Hotswap Chassis. This kit is designed for storing up to 15 x 3.5” hotswap HDDs. It features SAS I/II & SATA I/II/III interfaces.

The D410 4U Rackmount Chassis from the D Storm series supports up to 7 full-length and full-height add-on cards and a total of ten 5.25" drive bays for RAID configuration and high-density data storage. Two 120mm cooling fans on the sides of the unit provide adequate ventilation to protect critical equipment from getting damaged due to high temperatures. This storage solution provides your server or cluster with maximum reliability and performance.

The BPN-DE230SS Trayless Hot-Swap Cage is a third generation tray-less hot-swap hard drive cage. It features a 6.0 Gb/s SATA interface (SATA I/II/III and SAS I/II), and is RAID capable. It also features ultra-quiet cooling fans with adjustable fan speed, and a blue LED Indicator. Heat dissipation is enhanced by the full aluminum construction and a 70mm fan. The SATA power connector increases compatibility with most power supplies. The metal key locks help secure your hard drives to prevent unauthorized access. To maximize your investment, two standard 5.25" drive bays are converted into three 3.5"usable hard drive slots.

Q: 8. How loud are the fans on this unit? I have the Thunderbolt 2 version of this and the fans are louder than I'd like them to be on it. Does anybody know what the comparison is like?

A: This would be heavily dependent on the use case scenario. However I would say it would be on par with the thunderbolt 2 variant.

Q: 9. Wondering if there's a Cable Management Arm (CMA) that goes with this rail kit?

A: Unfortunately we do not currently carry a cable management arm from QNAP intended to accessorize with the TS-EC2480U-RP Rail Kit.

Q: 10. Can I use the Ethernet port on this unit like a server (similar to NAS)? I'm thinking to have this connected to our Ethernet switch so that people in our building can review what I will be working on without needing my supervision or having to come to my workstation. Is this possible?

A: This unit only supports a Thunderbolt 3 type connection. It also would not support any ethernet connection via an adapter as it lacks the necessary drivers to do so.

[15x 3.5"] When I was looking at this item, I couldn't find a review, so, I thought I would write one. The Server rack was delivered on a pallet, well boxed. The only assembly required was adding the wheels and levelers. The rack is very well constructed. Was easy to add systems as all doors and side panels come off. It came with a full set of server screws/nuts, 3 sets of keys, the back door does have six fans installed. The sound insulation is pre-installed on both sides and back. My setup includes a fully loaded Dell PowerEdge 2950 III, a Dell PowerVault MD1000 (with all 15 drives installed), a UPS, and a Switch. I originally had this in a standard 24u Compaq rack with metal screen front/back doors. It was so loud, you could hear it all over the house and all family members complained (and I could NOT stand to work in my home office). I finally put it offline when I ordered this rack for sanity's sake. Rack arrived yesterday (about 2 weeks ship time total). In this cabinet, I set it all up, and brought it it all online. I was VERY impressed with the LOW noise level. Family came home, no one noticed until they saw shares were back online and backups were running. No one heard a thing. Is it completely silent? No. Is it very quiet? Yes. Now I have no problem working in my office, having meetings on my speaker phone (no issues for me or people on the other end, I asked). 5

[15x 3.5"] This is also the rail kit for the TS-h2477XU-RP. Always verify compatibility. To install, slide the inner rails out (you'll need to pull on the white tab), and then the rails will slide/lock into place on the sides of the QNAP unit. Mount the slide rails in your rack, and slide the QNAP unit into the mounted rails. These rails are for a couple of the 4RU units; on the TS-h2477XU-RP, the rails mount on the 2nd RU from the bottom. So when you mount the rails in the rack, place them 1 RU up from where you want the bottom of the unit to be (or 2 RU down from the top). Rail mounting is straight forward, and mating to the QNAP with the inner slides happened with ease. Highly recommend the use of the appropriate rail kit with the QNAP rackmount units. 5
