The NuGen Audio AMB Loudness Module - Batch-Processing Softwarefrom NuGen Audio AMB Loudness Module - Batch-Processing Softwareis part of the company's Audio Management Batch (AMB) processing system, designed for post-production facilities that require a fast workflow with large file workloads. The core module provides rapid, file-based loudness profiling and correction to ITU-R BS 1770 (CALM) and EBU R128 standards.

The software uses threaded algorithm processing and multiple processing threads that are addressable for parallel-file and queue handling. Watched folders, warning indicators, along with detailed postmortem log files and graphing are all managed from the flexible intuitive interface. This allows for easily meeting multiple/complex delivery requirements through detailed auto-correct conditions, typically processing files at up to 100x real time.

The base configuration of AMB accesses two watch folders/queues as standard, and includes two independent processing threads that optimize workflows by allowing two simultaneous processes to run in parallel. This can be scaled up by using the optional AMB Queue Expansion, for a possible total of sixteen queues, while the AMB Thread Expansion provides additional processing threads when heavy-duty processing is required.

Q: 1. What cable do I need to plug in a standard phantom powered XLR shotgun microphone (such as a Sennheiser MKH 416) to the AEM-1?

A: We recommend the following cable options for the ARRI Audio Extension Module AEM-1 for ALEXA 35. Cable Techniques CT-PXFT-18 XLR-3F to TA3F Cable for Sound Devices (18") BH #CACTPXFT18 Cable Techniques CT-LPS-FX3T-18K Low-Profile LPXLR-3F to TA3F Cable (18", Black) BH #CALPSFX3T18K

Q: 2. Does this unit come with any cables please? If not, then Where in the BH photo cable finder is a cable that will work with this unit connecting an AT boundary MIC that needs phantom power please? Thanks.

A: No cables are included. The cable from the mic connects to the unit's input.

Q: 3. How many frames of a 35 mm can fit on the reel? Some rolls are 24 frames and some rolls are 36

A: The reel included in the Paterson Film Processing Starter Kit will hold 36 frames or less in 135 format. The reel is adjustable and will also hold other formats such as 126, 127, 120 or 220.

Q: 4. Does this work well with newer Macs using USB-C?

A: It depends on what you define as "newer". USB-C refers to the connector type, not the protocol used. The current lineup of Macs all have Thunderbolt 3 on USB-C ports, so yes it works with all of these, as well as older Macs with Thunderbolt 1, 2 ports. Some Macs as recently as 2017 (MacBook and Air) had USB-C ports that did not have Thunderbolt going through them. Apollo x8 works with Thunderbolt 1, 2, or 3 but you must make sure that any Mac that has USB-C connectors is actually using Thunderbolt protocol.

Q: 5. Can i fly the kit? If i purchase this in NYC, i want to take this with me to Mexico. Does anyone know if i can carry this?

A: The Paterson Film Processing Starter Kit can be shipped. But as carry on you need to contact the air line you are flying with to ask them.

Q: 6. does the license allow me to install it on two computers, both my laptop and desktop?

A: Yes, you can install the software on two or more computers if the license is stored on a USB-eLicenser. Licenses that are stored on an USB-eLicenser (dongle) make the license portable and allow the licensed software to be used on any computer, but the USB-eLicenser needs to be connected to the computer. Licenses that are stored locally on a computer's hard disk in a Soft-eLicenser are bound to that specific computer. Steinberg does allow for licenses to be transferred from a Soft-eLicenser onto an USB-eLicenser.

Q: 7. Is this program compatible with Apple M1 chip using Sonoma?

A: Yes, the Steinberg WaveLab Cast Podcast Audio Streaming and Editing Software is compatible with M1/M2/M3 Mac computers.

Q: 8. Can it interface with a live mixer, like, X Air XR18 (Behringer) which has a computer interface(PC Win10) , so that I can use this software to manipulate the input live stream from the mixer and send it out to a camera, to stream it out. Is there a sdk, with APIs which allows it to do this?

A: No this needs to run on either a Mac or PC. The OS in the Behringer is not compatible,

Q: 9. I'd like to use this to power a Senheiser MKH 416 and attach to Rode Wireless Go II to accomplish a wireless boom mic. Would this work for that purpose?

A: The Audio-Technica AT8531 In-Line Powering Module is not compatible with the Sennheiser MKH416.

Q: 10. Is the Windows version out yet?

A: i am not certain if Pro Tools will release a WIndows -based version of this audio interface. because Carbon uses AVB for connection via ethernet, which is built into a macOS.

Perfect replacements for aging and non-functionining units mean my older audio-technica gooseneck mics will keep on rocking along in our sanctuary for a few more years.

I got this 10 years ago for a documentary shoot. They have never failed in any way. Does not have on indicator light but I always change/recharge batteries end of day. Not a single problem all this time and excellent quality.

These are workhorse units for depositions - loud enough but not too extra sensitive that picks every single movement. Metal made. If you don't need or can skip the wireless ones, these are your reliable sound machines for the job.
