The Audix AP42 Wireless System with H60/OM5 Transmittersis a Performance Series dual-channel UHF diversity receiver designed to deliver enhanced range and easy configuration for musicians, vocalists, presenters, and public speakers in houses of worship, concert venues, conferences, and live stage applications. It offers 106 pre-coordinated frequencies across 32 MHz of bandwidth in the 554 to 586 MHz frequency band. Use two wireless microphones (available separately) from up to 300' away. One-touch sync and auto scan functions provide simple and efficient setup.

The high-contrast LCD shows a host of information such as battery level, frequency, and AF/RF signal strength, which can be optimized via adjustable AF and RF gain. XLR and 1/4" outputs allow compatible connectivity with the balanced or unbalanced inputs on your mixing console. The R42 Kit-B ships with two antennas, two BNC cables, an audio cable, one power supply, and a rackmount kit.

Q: 1. How tight an angle can the gooseneck hold. Many pics show about 45 degrees. Will it hold 90 degrees? 135?

A: You should be able to adjust the gooseneck to hold at any angle. The clutch assembly for the Audix MB5050 MicroBoom System 50" Gooseneck Condenser Microphone allows for total control over the angle, rotation and position of the carbon fiber rod.

Q: 2. Will it fit a sennheiser AVX transmitter? Has anyone tried to do this? I can't find anything else that will protect my transmitter when my talent drops in on a hard surface.

A: You could use the Remote Audio URSA Pouch for Wireless Transmitters - Large, Black (B&H # REUPOUCHLABL) which is also available in beige. The transmitter is 3.9" (100mm) high when measuring to the top of the antenna, 2.6" (65mm) across, and 0.94" (24mm) deep. The URSA Pouch is 3.9 x 3.1" (99 x 78mm). The On-Stage MA1435 Wireless Transmitter Body Pack Belt (B&H # ONMA1435) could also work. The pouch is 3.5 x 3 x 1" (89 x 25 x 76mm) so the antenna would stick out, which is how many wireless transmitter pouches are designed.

Q: 3. Will this work with shure wireless mic packs?

A: You can use the Samson LM8x Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with the included cable that has a locking 3.5mm TRS connector, then attach the RODE VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter (B&H # ROVXLRP). The VXLR+ will allow you to connect to an XLR input and use 48V phantom power to provide voltage for the microphone. The VXLR+ will convert 48V down to the appropriate amount of plug-in power that the mic requires. We do also have lavalier mics that already have an XLR connector that can be connected directly to a camcorder, without the need for adapters, that are priced in the same range as the the LM8x. [2:1] great as a pair, wether close or far. balanced natural sound, but with a nice smoothness and warmth. the mid size capsule makes it a great buy if you don't have a lot of different mics for vocals to drum overheads to piano to percussion. the clips are well designed too! 5

[Up to 8] I mixed monitors for a famous jazz pianist and His foh engineer brought these in. They sound awsome! every note clear in the mix no feedback. was actually asked to bring them down once or twice :-) 5

[32 kHz] These microphones are incredible. Very well priced especially when you buy the kit. I did lots of research and these were the best value of the highest quality. They shipped very quickly and came with everything I needed to plug and start using. Would recommend to any church or venue needing a high quality option without breaking the bank. 5

[45 Hz to 18 kHz] What's that on your organ? That's the question I get when musician and regular folk see the CabGrabber on the Leslie Cabinet of our organ. I guess it looks weird and they probably never seen the cabinet mic'd that way. Heard the pastor commenting about how nice the organ sounded....had to shake my head and smile because I knew it was due to how I mic'd the organ with these 2 days before. Easy to put attached and remove. Make sure to get the same brand Boom CG when ordering. 5

[2:1] I have a bunch of OM5s which I use generally on all sorts of bands when I work as an in-house live sound engineer. On a bitey sound system they're a more pleasant vocal mic than other ubiquitous vocal mics you see around a lot. I find the OM5 has less mud, a slightly rounder mid, and doesn't suffer from the high mid narkiness of other common vocal mics. There's a very usable top end brightness which really brings the vocals to the front without being sibilant or harsh. The tighter pickup pattern also helps cut out spill from loud guitars and drums, which means the mix sounds clearer and tighter. Another bonus is that you can get a much louder vocal level in your monitors before feedback rears its ugly head... Useful for weak singers. The matte black finish looks very subtle and cool, and a little dangerous, and doesn't steal attention away from the singers. The biggest problem I have with this mic is the pickup pattern is too tight for singers who move around a lot in front of it. If your vocalist plays guitar and spends a lot of time turning her head to watch her fret hand, you'll frequently lose level as she goes off-mic. This is the flip-side of having a good tight pickup pattern. 5
