This 35mm f/1.2 prime is designed for APS-C-format Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a slightly-longer-than-normal 52.5mm equivalent focal length.

Exceptionally fast f/1.2 maximum aperture affords a high degree of depth of field control, to suit selective focus shooting, and also benefits working in low-light conditions.

Two aspherical elements are featured in the optical design in order to minimize spherical aberrations, increase sharpness, and provide even illumination from edge-to-edge.

One extra-low dispersion element is used to reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing for improved clarity and color accuracy.

An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to individual elements in order to reduce flare and ghosting for increased contrast and a neutral color balance.

Manual focus operation allows for precise control with a minimum focusing distance of 1.25'.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could this work with a metabones speedbooster T XL? EF to MFT

A: The 7artisans Photoelectric 35mm f/1.2 Lens for Canon EF-M will not work with a Metabones T Speed booster lens adapter because the canon lens needs to be closer to the sensor than the MFT lens for it to focus. Canon EF-M flange distance is 18mm and the MFT flange distance is 19.25mm.

Q: 2. Is the z mount version APS-C or Full frame?

A: Its for the Nikon Z50

Q: 3. Does it have that dreamy vintage lens look?

A: Vintage lenses do not have the advantages of the latest lens design, latest materials for glass, and latest sophisticated coatings. This lens has been built like a vintage lens. Doing so has allowed it to be built with what is not considered imperfections such a flare, vignetting, barrel distortion, and softness with a wide open aperture. Therefore this indeed has that vintage lens dreamy look.

Q: 4. Is there a hard stop at infinity, or does the focus ring keep turning past infinity?

A: Yes this will have a hard stop at infinity focus.

Q: 5. I'm in the market for a decent wide-angle prime lens for my Canon 5D Mark III. I want to use this lens for both wide-angle landscape photography as well as astrophotography. Given that I already have Canon's 24-70mm, f2.8 lens, my questions are: (1) would the Rokinon 20mm, f/1.4 manual focus be a good candidate?; (2) is 20mm wide enough or should I go down to say 14-18mm?; how does this Rokinon lens compare with Canon's EF 20mm, f/2.8 USM lens in terms of usability and quality? Thank you!

A: With astrophotography, the wider the better. You may want to look into a 14mm or Canon makes some great 16-35mm 2.8 zooms that would be great for astro and landscape work.

Q: 6. Will this lens work the electronics of a metabones or sigma adapter for the sony e mount?

A: No, the Rokinon SP 35mm f/1.2 Lens for Canon EF will not work with the electronics for a Sony adapter.

Q: 7. Does it has any electronic components? I’m a beginner but let’s say I change the Aperture on the lens ring, will that new Number apear in the camera screen ?

A: This is a fully manual lenses. It does not send any electronic information to the camera.

Q: 8. Is this lens compatible with the Sony a5100 ?

A: I shoot it on my a6300 and it works great! I don't see why it won't work just as well on a a5100. It's a simple lens that has manual AF and aperture and it takes great pictures on the a6300.

Q: 9. Does this lens auto focus?

A: No. This lens is fully manual. Manual focus; manual aperture

Q: 10. Hola is compatibility with Nikon d7100

A: No. This is for the Nikon Z-series Z-mount cameras (yours if an F-mount camera), such as the Z50 / Z5 / Z6 / Z6 II / Z7 / Z7 II.

[62 mm (Front)] I've seen a review of this lens that states it's sharper than Fujifilms own 56mm f/1.2...I don't know for sure but this is a very nice sharp lens (as they say, for the money)....or for any amount of money..Try it, if your not happy with it just send it back..

[f/16] The Rokinon 50 1.2 surprised with top-notch performance wide open, little chromatic aberrations and no vignetting. It's the best performing 50mm I have used on the a6300 so far. If you can deal with the lack of AF go for it! Manuel focus feels smooth and built quality is excellent.

[Sony E] Pros:
- Very sharp, even at maximum aperture. I saw a video comparing it to the Fuji 56 f1.2, and it seems like the individual doing the review had a bad copy, because it didn't seem very sharp at all at 1.2. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the optics of this lens.
- Very little vignetting, even at maximum aperture.
- Good build quality, doesn't feel cheap in hand despite the use of plastics. Some say that the fit isn't ''snug'' with their Fuji body, however I don't think that is very noticeable. The fit is very similar to that of the XF 18-55mm kit lens.
- Smooth bokeh.
- Decent hood

Cons:
- Manual lens, but honestly, with focus peaking, this is a pure joy to use. Focusing in low light can actually be quicker once you get used to it.
- Focus ring could be a bit smoother. This is down to personal preference, but the focus ring is a bit tight.

This is a great lens, if you don't mind manually focusing, go for it!

[f/1.2] Great lens. Really nice images even wide open. Build feels good, focus and aperture rings are smooth, well damped, and don't have excessive play.

[62 mm (Front)] Images from this lens look outstanding. The sharpness wide open is very respectable, and you be hard-pressed to complain about it from f/2.8f/8. There is some color fringing in high contrast areas, but still very well controlled. Shooting plenty of video, I have noticed that there is slight focus breathing on the lens, but its only apparent if you rack focus from infinity to a close subject quickly vice versa. Build quality is solid. Using the focus/ aperture rings are a pleasure and I'm a huge fan of the look of that metallic red ring :P infinity focus is not at the hard stop but thats not an issue for me. The lens fits snuggly on my a6500. The only complaint would be that the lens hood and rear lens cap are pretty loose.

[f/1.2] This lens is very impressive for the price. Super good bokeh and DOF. It can be hard to manually focus at f/1.2 but you get use to it over time.

[Sony E] I have both the Rokinon 35mm f/1.2 and the 50mm f/1.2 for my Canon M5. Both lenses are rockstars. While they require manual adjustment of the aperture and focus, I actually appreciate that level of engagement when shooting with prime lenses. This lens is usably sharp at f/1.2, much more so than the Canon 50mm f/1.2 (roughly the same focal length when mounted on their respective native cameras). The richness of the colors and contrast is on par with the EF-M 22mm, which is good. This lens also gets top marks for bokeh and build quality. If you're looking to add fast primes to your M kit and know how to shoot on manual with manual focus, this lens will deliver.

[Sony E] The Rokinon SP 1.2 series is honestly the most underrated glass I have used. This lens and the others in the series are some of the best full frame glass I have used. I can see why Samyang is now adapting them for the Meinster series. Though they should have picked a different name. I have used Zeiss, Sigma, and Canon L lenses of the same focal lengths. When it comes to sharpness and character these do a great job balancing it all.
