This 35mm f/1.2 prime is designed for APS-C-format Fujifilm X-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a slightly-longer-than-normal 52.5mm equivalent focal length.

Exceptionally fast f/1.2 maximum aperture affords a high degree of depth of field control, to suit selective focus shooting, and also benefits working in low-light conditions.

Two aspherical elements are featured in the optical design in order to minimize spherical aberrations, increase sharpness, and provide even illumination from edge-to-edge.

One extra-low dispersion element is used to reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing for improved clarity and color accuracy.

An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to individual elements in order to reduce flare and ghosting for increased contrast and a neutral color balance.

Manual focus operation allows for precise control with a minimum focusing distance of 1.25'.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens work the electronics of a metabones or sigma adapter for the sony e mount?

A: No, the Rokinon SP 35mm f/1.2 Lens for Canon EF will not work with the electronics for a Sony adapter.

Q: 2. Does the lens have auto aperture (wide-open focusing, stopping down when shutter is pressed)?

A: No, the Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1.2 X Lens for FUJIFILM X does not offer an auto-aperture.

Q: 3. do the contacts in the lens allow for parallax correction in manual focus mode in optical viewfinder on the x pro3 bodies ?

A: This lens is not compatible with parallax correction on the XPro3 camera.

Q: 4. Will the contacts on the lens allow focus stacking on the X-E3?

A: The FUJIFILM X-E3 Mirrorless Digital Camera does not have Focus Stacking or Focus Bracketing. Focus Stacking with the camera would be a manual process of taking multiple images with slightly shifted focus, and then merging them in post. The Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1.2 X Lens for FUJIFILM X can be used for manual focus stacking, but it cannot do automatic Focus Stacking even on Fujifilm cameras that have this feature.

Q: 5. I meant to ask if the contacts allowed focus peaking on the X-E3 and not focus stacking?

A: Yes, focus peaking will be available using this lens.

Q: 6. Is this lens compatible with the Sony a5100 ?

A: I shoot it on my a6300 and it works great! I don't see why it won't work just as well on a a5100. It's a simple lens that has manual AF and aperture and it takes great pictures on the a6300.

Q: 7. Will other unsupported cameras like x-e3 be updated to read data in future ?

A: Unfortunately we have not heard that Voigtlander will be adding that feature for unsupported cameras.

Q: 8. will the contacts in the lens allow parallax correction on xpro 3 in OVF manual focus mode ?

A: Yes. This lens will communicate with the Fujifilm X-Pro3 and enable parallax correction.

Q: 9. Does this lens auto focus?

A: No. This lens is fully manual. Manual focus; manual aperture

Q: 10. Do you prefer this lens over the xf 35mm f/1.4?

A: Choosing a lens is a completely personal decision: both the Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1.2 X Lens and the FUJIFILM XF 35mm f/1.4 R Lens have excellent reviews from users, but the Fujifilm lens has more than 300 reviews, while the Voigtlander lens has only one review, so far.

[f/16] Images from this lens look outstanding. The sharpness wide open is very respectable, and you be hard-pressed to complain about it from f/2.8f/8. There is some color fringing in high contrast areas, but still very well controlled. Shooting plenty of video, I have noticed that there is slight focus breathing on the lens, but its only apparent if you rack focus from infinity to a close subject quickly vice versa. Build quality is solid. Using the focus/ aperture rings are a pleasure and I'm a huge fan of the look of that metallic red ring :P infinity focus is not at the hard stop but thats not an issue for me. The lens fits snuggly on my a6500. The only complaint would be that the lens hood and rear lens cap are pretty loose.

[APS-C] This really is an amazing product. Extremely sharp, even wide open and capable of some really artistic shots. The sun stars it creates are beautiful and the light turns buttery soft as it's opened up. Astrophotography is crisp edge to edge at f1.2 with very little vignetting, coma, or astigmatism issues! Overall a stout performer regardless of your intentions. Be wary if you don't have a steady hand and watch your shutter speed to avoid shaky images since it doesn't have any stabilization. But, for the price and the speed it's worth the sacrafice.

[f/1.2] The Rokinon 50 1.2 surprised with top-notch performance wide open, little chromatic aberrations and no vignetting. It's the best performing 50mm I have used on the a6300 so far. If you can deal with the lack of AF go for it! Manuel focus feels smooth and built quality is excellent.

[5 x 4.8 x 4.75"] I use this lens with a Sony alpha 6000. The Lens is incredibly sharp, with little to no barrel distortion or chromatic aberrations. It is a prime lens, and it does not connect electronically to the camera -- this means manual focus only and no EXIF information stored on the shots as to the lens and aperture used. If this is OK with you (it is with me), then this is a great lens. I now use only Rokinon / Samyang prime lenses in addition to the 55-210mm Sony zoom lens for wildlife shots with the a6000. Some people have noted that there should be a distance scale to help with estimating the deapth of field, but after having had the lens for a while you will develop a good intuition for this anyway. One thing that could be an issue some months / heavy usage down the line: f numbers and focusing distances are painted not etched into the lens, so they could wear off after a while I guess.

[9, Rounded] I bought the Voigtlander Nokton 23mm f/1.2 to use on my Fujifilm X-Pro3 and I was sold. I liked it so much that as soon as the 35mm was back in stock, I ordered it, and I love it, too. I am really enjoying using manual focus and the rendering from both lenses is very appealing to my eye. The build quality of these lenses is first rate. I think they're worth every penny. Don't get me wrong, the Fujifilm lenses are wonderful, but the Voigtlanders are fantastic as well. If Voigtlander comes out with more X-mount lenses, I'm buying them.

[9, Rounded] I've seen a review of this lens that states it's sharper than Fujifilms own 56mm f/1.2...I don't know for sure but this is a very nice sharp lens (as they say, for the money)....or for any amount of money..Try it, if your not happy with it just send it back..

[APS-C] The Rokinon SP 1.2 series is honestly the most underrated glass I have used. This lens and the others in the series are some of the best full frame glass I have used. I can see why Samyang is now adapting them for the Meinster series. Though they should have picked a different name. I have used Zeiss, Sigma, and Canon L lenses of the same focal lengths. When it comes to sharpness and character these do a great job balancing it all.

[62 mm (Front)] I bought this along with the Sigma dc dn art 30mm 1.4 for my a6300. Optics wise I would choose this over the Sigma. The Rokinon is heavier with a plastic body and yet still nice feeling .There is little purple fringing wide open on high contrast scenes and it is completely gone between f2-2.8. The sharpness and contrast throughout is fantastic. I was surprised how well it did at 1.2. There is no noticeable distortion. The colors are great. The bokeh is very smooth. One of my favorite lenses I have ever owned. I plan I using this for Product shots, video and portraits. Remember if you buy this it is for apsc not full frame. Also manual focus only, which is very smooth. I would 100% recommend this lens. I posted a photo I took with it!!!
