Ewa-marine U-bfx100 Underwater Housing Glove

Ewa-marine U-bfx100 Underwater Housing Glove

  • Availability: In Stock

$1,289.85 $1,767.09

The Ewa-Marine U-BFX100 Housing comes with an integrated glove for manually controlling the camera. The glove is designed for the left hand and allows you to cradle the camera and lens the way you would if using the camera without the housing. This helps you to operate the camera and lens manually for capturing photos using settings as per your requirements.

The housing is designed to fit the bulky, professional digital SLR cameras such as the Canon 1Ds or the Nikon D2X, D200 and similar cameras. Smaller SLR cameras can still be used in the housing. The housing is manufactured from double-

laminated PVC and has an optical glass port. It is rated for dives of up to 15' depth.

Suitable for snorkeling and diving as well as sandy, dusty, humid or foul weather conditions, this housing will give your camera complete protection while remaining fully operational.

If the optional BF1 lead weight is inserted into the housing, underneath the camera, it becomes even easier to reach the maximum depth. The auto focus of the camera continues to function as normal, and as you descend, the air is pressed into the camera. The pressure inside the housing will remain the same as the surrounding water pressure, so you must start the dive with a suitable amount of air inside the housing. The foam pads supplied with the housing make up part of this air "reservoir" and additional air should also be blown into the housing, via the valve at the rear, to ensure that the maximum volume is being utilized.

The housing has a pair of non-corrosive and seawater resistant clamping rails which fit together for sealing. They tighten by means of screw knobs. The external flash that is commonly used on SLR cameras fits into the specially designed section on the top of the housing.

This housing accommodates a maximum 82mm lens filter size, and comes supplied with a threaded 77mm lens-to-port adapter ring. An optional 82mm adapter is also available (#CA82). This allows wide-angle lenses to be used with this housing. All lenses used with this housing must have internal focus.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will a Nikon d7100, 18-140mm lens with a SB-700 flash fit?

A: this outfit will fit in the UBXP however if you have lenses with an 82 mm filter thread then you will require the U-BXP 100.

Q: 2. What's the maximum focal can be used without vignette ? My gear is Sony A7RII and FE1635

A: Hi Dziung, there will always be vignetting of some sort while shooting underwater, but the limits on lenses in this housing are really the filter thread size (max is 82 mm) we recommend the widest possible settings to be used and framing where crops are possible.Hope this helps. All the best,Eric

Q: 3. I'm looking for underwater housing that would accommodate my Canon 5D III, battery grip, 600EX flash and a 77mm lens (ideally up to 82mm). What reliable options would you recommend for this setup, without breaking the bank?

A: Ewa-Marine bag housings are a reliable option at a reasonable price when working in 20' of water or less. The housing is rated to 150' but water pressure will make it difficult to access the camera controls through the bag. The Ewa-Marine U-BXP100 is their largest housing. This bag is designed to hold an on-camera speedlight and could accommodate internal focus lenses with a maximum 82mm lens filter size. The housing includes the threaded 77mm lens-to-port adapter ring. Other optional port adapter rings including the 82mm adapter is available (#CA82). Wide-angle lenses can be used with this housing. The housing is designed for large DSLR cameras only. Use of a battery grip cannot be guaranteed. A: Yes the C-A system has a ring that threads onto your lens and pressure fits into the front port.

Q: 5. Is this for the 5d mrk iii?

A: no for that camera use the U-B100

Q: 6. Is this housing compatible with Samsung NX300, with 18-55mm len?

A: The Ewa-Marine D-B is compatible with the Samsung NX300, with the 18-55mm lens. The zoom range of the lens might be limited.

A: Absolutely, any pro level sized DSLR will fit with lenses with a maximum filter thread of 82 mm

Q: 8. This housing is compatible with Sony A6000?

A: Yes is perfect

Q: 9. Will this work with a lens with a 49mm thread? Do I need to order an adapter?

A: The Ewa-Marine U-FXP Underwater Housing's lens port will accommodate a lens as large as 80mm on the outer diameter. So lenses with a 49mm filter thread will fit. This housing is not designed to use adapters.

Q: 10. would a canon t3i rebel fit?

A: The Canon T3i will fit in the Ewa-Marine U-AX Housing. You do have to make sure the lens on the camera has a maximum filter thread of 72mm. The camera body and lens together cannot be longer than 6.7 (170mm). Only internal focus lenses could be used in Ewa-Marine housings.

[15' / 5 m] I went diving for the first time and bought this housing to take my Canon T3i underwater with me. I only dove 7 meters/21 feet, but it worked perfectly fine for me. No leaks or moisture inside at all and it fit my Canon 10-22mm EF-S lens perfectly. There was plenty of room for the flash too. I couldn't really change settings underwater while diving, although I could in the housing above water. I was hoping to switch to movie mode at some point, but wasn't able to. In reality, I don't think I would have been able to hold it straight in front of me steady enough while diving in order to do video anyway. That's probably just because I have no diving experience though. I set it to A+ (scene intelligent auto) mode for the underwater shots so I wouldn't have to change any manual settings. I had to let almost all of the air out in order to get it below the surface of the water, even with the lead weight in the case. Since it wasn't a deep dive, I didn't have any problems with the housing shrinking around the camera at all.I was able to take some photos that I'm really happy with underwater and even above water. The glass doesn't seem to blur the image at all EXCEPT for when you're above water and have water drops on the glass. I also used this case while kayaking in the rain and those shots are blurry.

[15' / 5 m] This is a really great housing. I have been using it for surf photography. The housings made for surf photography can run you a couple of thousand, minimum, so this one is an awesome way to get started! It's a bit tricky without being able to test the settings and the lens port requires some cropping in post when using wide angle lenses. Totally worth it though!

[Fixed, flat] This really is an amazing housing for the price. The first one I had I used I actually found in the basement at my parents house. It had been sitting there for 10+ years and I did a leak test, still worked, and I used it to do surf photography for the first time. It did eventually split open at the side, but I did catch it before going in the water. It lasted a good 6 months which was amazing because it was at least 10 years old. So I bought another one! I loved the second one for a long time and my mistake was leaving it in the car in the heat :-( It shrunk because it got too hot in my trunk, then when I put the camera in it, the housing was soft and the side split open. My fault here for sure. So I bought another one, hahahaha :-) Moral of the story here is to just continuously do water checks for your housing, it is soft housing so just be aware of not leaving it in your car for a day when you aren't using it, but this has been such an amazing an affordable option for me until I can buy a proper water housing. The only downside is it is too hard to change the settings once the camera is in the housing. So I use masking tape to keep my lens set at infinity, then I set my aperture and shutter speed depending on the light, sometimes auto if it's one of those days, and then just go for it! I have taken some amazing photos and love love love how much I've learned to get creative with my settings because of the restriction of being able to change it in the moment :-) It gets 5 stars because for a tenth of the price I get to create amazing photos and enjoy surf photography! I don't have to wait to spend 2500+ on a housing to do what I want :-) And as with any type of water housing, there is always a risk of ruining your camera. I already lost one camera to the sea :-) But the joy of ocean photography is so worth it so I'm willing to jump into the possibility of doing it again! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!
