Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would it be possible to attach a beauty dish to this for portrait work?

A: Unfortunately, there are no connections that would allow a beauty dish to be connected to this fixture.

Q: 2. Why is there no on/off switch?

A: Dracast says that it intended for the dimmer dial on the Dracast Fresnel 2000 Daylight LED Light to control the power. By dialing it down to "0" yu are effectively turning the light off.

Q: 3. Does it come with an XLR?

A: If you look at the photos shown here it is a very nice 4-pin XLR input clearly marked XLR.

Q: 4. what is the diameter of the fresnel lens?

A: The Fresnel 200 from Dracast has a 3" fresnel lens.

Q: 5. What's its equivalent wattage?

A: The LED1000 Pro Daylight is approximately equivalent to around 420 Watts of hot tungsten light. // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at support@dracobroadcast.com.

Q: 6. What are the dimensions of the fixture including the yoke mount? Im trying to find a case that would carry this and two of the 500 Pros.

A: THE DRACAST FACTORY PRODUCT INFORMATION SHEET INDICATES THAT THE LED1000 PLUS DAYLIGHT LED LIGHT HAS DIMENSIONS OF 12 TALL WITHOUT THE YOKE AND 16 TALL INCLUDING THE YOKE X 13.375 WIDE AND 2.5 DEEP. THE CATALOG SHEET WE HAVE INDICATES THAT THE LED LIGHT/YOKE COMBINATION IS ALSO 12 , WHICH IS INCORRECT. THE SHIPPING BOX FROM THE FACTORY INCLUDING THE PACKING MATERIAL IS 18 TALL X 18 WIDE BY 8 DEEP. IF WE WERE TO CARRY THESE IN ONE CONTAINER WE WOULD USE INTERNAL DIMENSIONS, INCLUDING THE PACKING MATERIAL, A MINIMUM OF 36 LONG X 18 TALL X 8 DEEP. TWO OF THE LED LIGHTS WOULD BE STORED NEXT TO ONE ANOTHER IN THIS SENARIO. THERE MAY BE ROOM TO STORE YOUR ADDITIONAL ITEMS IN THE SAME CONTAINER ... ALL WITH EFFECTIVE PROTECTION AROUND IT ALL.

Q: 7. Does this come with the SKB hard carrying case?

A: Yes. This kit comes with a hard case. // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at support@dracobroadcast.com.

Q: 9. What is the Incandescent Watts equivalent to this light?

A: Unknown. It would be ROUGHLY equivalent to ABOUT 450 Watts of hot tungsten / halogen light. // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at support@dracobroadcast.com.

Q: 10. where are the softboxes for the led 1000?

A: I was not aware there were any soft boxes.

[185 W ] I am an established photographer and I was looking for some new lighting. I found this and decided to get it because it was portable and lightweight. I do a lot of outside shooting and this is the perfect light for that. It does not get hot either, which is very lovely. A great investment!

[5600K] Professional lights are a dime a dozen, but all of them only have partial parts that are great. This LED fresnel takes the cake because it does everything that it says it does, and there is no complicated part to it. It's a light that works great, with no unneeded bells and whistles. If you are a videographer (semi- or pro), you'll find the light weight capability of this LED panel is great for whatever your needs are. It easily portable so that you can move yourself to the scene you are filming, but still maintains the professional quality you require. It will not get hot and the light output is perfect for what you're looking for. Since it is a LED fresnel light, you'll see that it has all of the fresnel advantages, like the beam intensity and the longer distance that it illuminates. The LED portion comes into play by the energy-efficient and other pros to having a LED light. Just by infusing these two elements alone, it's already a great product. The color accuracy with this LED fresnel light is a huge plus. You don't have to worry about strange tints or color hues creeping into the purity and strength of the light even if you use it for the 2 hours straight. You can count on the color temperature to stay constant and consistent as long as the light is in use. Since it has built-in DMX controls, you are able to control everything with an external DMX panel. This LED fresnel light is all about bringing you the best light out there, and with all of the needs you require. This is better than a panel, and it's portable...pretty fantastic, don't you think?

[Daylight] I have had a tungsten model and daylight model of this light. I really like how simple it is. For lighting up a scrim or accenting a wall it works great. The daylight is about 1/3 of a stop brighter than the tungsten balanced light. I like that its dead quiet and simple to use. The added V mount bracket included is super handy as well.

[CRI 95] Very solid light with a wonderful and even light in both spot and wide. It's closer in brightness to my old 1k Strand Century tungsten Fresnel lights...perhaps 1 or 2 stops dimmer, but this Dracast has a much more even, manageable light source. The older tungsten lights always required a little diffusion to help even the spot that was always present in the center.

Not nearly as bright as the 2K equivalent I was hoping for (about half), but a very well built and pleasing light source. Will buy more.

[Proprietary] Very good light, ordered 3, 1 came with part of a row of led's that didn't light, corner of the box was crushed/split open. I called B&H and made a quick return and received a replacement 2 day air. When I ordered there was a package deal with barn doors, softbox and 60 degree grid, along with the standard power supply and soft sided carrying case made of durable heavy nylon. I ordered the daylight 5500k light to utilize full power. I independently ordered a set of filters offered by Dracast, which are made to slide into slots on barn door, grid or softbox. Oddly the filters don't actually fit in the slots on the light itself, which are made for a clear plastic protective sheet over the leds and a second slot for the accessory barn doors, etc. A full set of 5 filters was $130 but are well made and should last many years. The light is well made with a metal housing and the digital readout for power setting is nice. Lowest end settings are iffy up to about 10%, after that they are consistent. The lights are very bright but not extremely bright. I'm using them for product videos and they are working well. After a solid days shoot the lights are slightly warm to the touch and no flickering issues. When using the filters I didn't use the clear plastic protective sheet so as to help keep the lights cooler.

[Daylight] Camera, media, and light; are like a hammer, wood, and nails. Moving to digital capture, computer mediums, and LEDS is a perfect pairing.

[5600K] Dracast's LED1000 PLUS Daylight is the best LED light I've ever tested because its so color accurate and build solidly. As a cinematographer I have a practical understanding of light and light sources. Its important to know that LEDs aren't a full spectrum light source like sunlight. And they can have difficulty reproducing certain key wavelengths of light, leaving gaps in the visible spectrum. In fact, most LEDs today do a poor job of reproducing red (R9), which is important for good skin tone. This is okay if you're just lighting backgrounds, but not so good if you're lighting people. The common CRI measurement fails to tell the whole picture because it assumes a full spectrum source. CRI averages readings from only 8 samples, that is R1-R8. However, the colors which are most important for skin tones, R9, R13, and R15, are omitted in the calculation. Using a Sekonic C-700 Spectrometer, I was able to meter the light from 5' at 100%. The display temp of 5600K metered at 5787K, which is acceptable. The measured output was 2750 lux and there was zero indication of a green or magenta color shift (CCi). Most notable was the CRI rating (Ra) of 96.2, and R9=94.6, R13=97.3, and R15=94.1. Those are outstanding numbers for an LED panel and the best Ive seen yet. The beam spread appears to be about 45 and is controllable with the barn doors or grid. Its very intense and youll want to shoot this through diffusion or bounce it when lighting people but the package is easy to handle and very portable. The panels are built solidly with a nice blue aluminum frame, sturdy yoke, a useful display for color temp and intensity, xlr power, assignable dmx, and interchangeable battery plate. This panel cant be beat at any price and is perfect if you need a lightweight, battery-powered light source for lighting people and need great skin tones.

[50,000 Hours] As a photographer, I look for a LED panel that's easy to carry around for travel, cool to the touch, bright, powerful, and color-accurate. This is just the perfect one. It is easy to operate and lovely to sight. I used it recently at a location and I also made use of its added feature (color temperature) it notified me of the color temperature and I was amazed when i saw the output. This led has saved me from the guesswork of using a light meter and has also enhanced my production.

[50,000 Hours] I went through an endless search to get my first LED light and ended up between this and the Litepanel Astra. I eventually picked this because of the slightly lower price and more rugged build quality, as well as the recommendation of a videographer who has been using one for awhile. I am very happy with the light in operation and the build quality feels fantastic as well. The light was very easy to setup and get right to shooting with. The controls are extremely simple. Definitely make sure to get barndoors with this as well as it does not include them. One additional note: this company's customer service was fantastic. When I received the light, the included bag had a broken zipper. After only one quick email, they fed-exed me out a replacement bag. I wish every company had customer service that fixed problems that quickly. Definitely recommend this light and company and look forward to filling out my lighting set with their gear.

[Proprietary] I love this light! I was looking for a LED panel that was easily transportable because I never know where I'll end up working. I enjoy the LED aspect because there are same advantages of the traditional fresnel lighting along with the energy-saving and efficient aspects. This light is lightweight and the panel doesn't get hot which is a major plus as well. You can easily control the DMX with the external DMX panel. What I really love though is that the color temperature is so reliable. There are no weird color tints when in use. I've used this for anywhere between 30 minutes to a couple of hours with very accurate color temperature throughout the whole shoot. Overall this is my favorite light to work with due to it's reliability and quality. Highly recommended!
