The pair of JBL 9300 2-Way Passive Cinema Surround Loudspeakers feature a 1" HF horn and 10" woofer. The horn offers studio-quality performance with pattern control tailored to multiplex theater geometries. The loudspeaker uses a wave shaping vane which distributes acoustic energy in proper proportion to the room. This technique provides a wavefront that is sculpted to the room geometry and provides very precise mapping capability. This shaping also allows the loudspeaker to orient to the wall naturally while directing the acoustic energy to the seats.

By mounting the surrounds at a 15° angle toward the screen, the hot spots are eliminated and overall coverage maps are dramatically improved, and those seats in close proximity to a surround have a much improved experience. The 9300 system provides 3 mounting planes for easy installation in any geometry.

A: No. The JBL SRX815 15" Two-Way Bass Reflex Passive System is a passive speaker, so it needs to be connected to a power amplifier. If you are using a mixer, the mixer's output will connect to the input on the power amp(s) and the speakers will connect to the output from the power amps.

[21 lb (9.53 kg)] I use these as the left and right front in my 7.1 home theater. Center front is two Control Ones in a series, and the rest are single Control Ones. Subwoofer is 15' 750 watt JBL. I replaced the Control Fives because after years of abuse the LF driver surrounds gave up. There is an LED that lights when the speakers are overdriven.I ignored it. Good professional studio monitor speakers. You will need mounts, and they ate pricey. 5

[2800 Hz] I bought my first set of Control 5's way back in 1991, using them as my primary monitors on many recordings over the years. Finally, a couple of years ago, the foam surrounds on the woofers gave out and were repaired with a kit, they worked great until a blast from a high-frequency note from a keyboard took out a tweeter, and while this has happened before and was easily replaced, I opted to buy another set. The fact that these monitors have not changed at all in over two decades speaks volumes of their reliability and versatility, not to mention accuracy. I was nearly full analog back in 1991, and have of course transitioned to full digital, and these monitors are an outstanding choice. As with any monitors, the trick is to protect them from accidental damage from stray signals with compression and/or limiters. Great for small to moderate room sizes. I don't have anything bad to say about them, any problems we experienced with them in the studio were caused by the people using them, and eventually, age. Great Product. 5

[21 lb (9.53 kg)] I use these mostly for outdoor functions. I can't believe how well the sound carries even when not cranked way up. I also love that they are not too heavy so I can carry two at the same time. 5
