This Hoya 46mm Red #25A Multi-Coated Glass Filterfrom Hoya 46mm Red #25A Multi-Coated Glass Filteris ideal for strong contrast improvement since it absorbs green and blue completely and enhances red. Clouds are dramatically improved almost to the mood of a thunderstorm. It is more effective in cutting through haze, and moonlight effects are easily accomplished. When used in combination with a polarizer, a sense of an impending storm can be created. It is also suited for infrared photography. Multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting. Hoya multi-coating results in about 97% light transmission. Color is truer and contrast is maximized.

A: My filter is used on the Sigma 150-600, but it should work the same on Tamron, and yes, the lens cap does fit. Not sure if the coating is both sides or not, but I have had no problems at all with flare, ghosting, or sharpness degradation. Seems like an excellent product and I would buy again.

[46 mm] I use the Hoya Red #25 filter primarily for digital infrared photography. There are many out there that are much lower in cost but always remember, you get what you pay for. Hoya has been my brand of filter for most of my IR work. Their quality is very good and consistent, and for the price, you can't go wrong. 5

[0.09 lb] I'm a photography student and I mostly do traditional film photography. I wanted to take some landscape and cityscape pictures, my professor recommended red filter so I bought this Hoya #25A Red Filter I loved the result and now I almost never take a picture without it. It just gives you nice contrast. 5

[Glass] I shoot large format B&W exclusively and use this on my Nikkor-M 300mm. Good filter for more extreme sky & cloud intensification. High optical quality at a reasonable price. Can't think of any shortcomings. I like Hoya and use their filter products on all of my lenses. 5

[46 mm] im in a dark room class now and was told that a red 25 would make the skys in a landskape pop so I figureed I would give it a try and what a difference it makes the sky is dark and the clouds look so nice and fluffy white. a must have when shooting black and white film. 5

[Glass] The reason I choose Hoya’s filter is because of multi coating. Already have 77mm and pretty happy with it. No signs of reflection on the images. Well priced too. 5

[0.09 lb] Well made, good quality. I use this filter on bright, sunny days. If the shot is under exposed, sunlight looks like moonlight. On a very clear day, the sky shows up jet black. Experiment with different film and exposures. 5

[46 mm] Exactly what I wanted. Solid build. Every film is probably different, but I had to adjust to about 1/3 to 1/2 the rated ISO (ASA) of the film to expose the image properly with through the lens metering. I almost forgot what clouds looked like in B&W until I saw my first images with the filter. 5
