Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. We installed one unit in the guest bedroom and the neon glows a bit much, can we cover the unit with material to dim the glow?

A: Hi! Rather than physically covering the unit, you may want to consider simply disabling the built in LED. To do this (using the desktop UniFi controller software): Login to the UniFi controller -- Select Settings (Gear icon) --Select Site -- Uncheck the option to enable the status LED -- Select Apply Changes. Please note that this applies to all of the access points you manage (unless you have set-up multiple sites); if you have more than one access point, all of their LEDs will be disabled. If you are using the mobile application to manage your device(s), the ability to disable the LED is coming in a future update. As for physically covering the unit, I suppose you could do so with minimal effects (depending on the material), but I would strongly suggest disabling the LED over covering the unit. The last thing you want is to adversely affect the signal emitted from the device.

Q: 2. The BH listing shows this includes 5 Pieces but I only see three pieces. What am I missing?

A: Included in the box are 5 access points.

Q: 3. Will you supply an Australian power supply cord with this?

A: No. This is a (US) model. There are international UAPs. Also, please note that since this is 802.11af POE compliant, any decent POE switch can power it.

Q: 4. Hi Is this the US version or the international version(with support for all channels)?

A: This is the US version.

Q: 5. can i use the us version internationally in the UK?

A: I would bet yes, in the UniFi controller software I can choose where my site is. And that should limit and control what channels it will use. Other than that be mindful of what channels are legal and be sure to only use those channels.

Q: 6. How many VLANs does this support?

A: 4 VLANS

Q: 7. Which POE injector is needed for this AP? Is it Ubiquiti Networks 48V PoE Adapter with Gigabit LAN?

A: Yes, a 48V PoE Adapter would be compatible with this unit.

Q: 8. This unit has two network ports. Can each be plugged into a different network and have an SSID that connects to a specific port?

A: No it supports only data pass through for the same network.

Q: 9. Is the POE+ spec really required to make this run off of a POE switch? The wattage of this unit is within both the per-port and overall wattage of my existing POE (non POE+) switch. Just wondering if I need to upgrade my switch first.

A: A POE+ switch is not required.Per the quick start, any 802.3af/802.3at PoE+ compliant switch. The UAP-AC-PRO uses standard 48V POE, so any compliant switch will work - as is what you have stated that you have. It's the non-PRO versions that don't use standard POE.

Q: 10. Can this unit be mounted on wall vs ceiling?

A: Yes, included with the product would even be a wall mount option

[1] We are all in with Ubiquiti for us and our clients. Provides great coverage and running the required Unifi controller on a PC, cloud or cloud key gives loads of info about the device, clients, etc.

Even better, dealing with B&H is soo enjoyable! Great prices, fast service and delivery and any questions are responded to fast and friendly!

[1 to 2 dBi] This adapter is very convenient. If you are not running it through the POE switch you will need to make sure you get the proper power. You need a 48v injector for it to function, otherwise will not power up.
Super easy set up and connect.

[1] Installation was a breeze, used the single CAT6 in my garage, but provides 2 for use by other devices. Signal is strong, setup couldnt have been easier. Plug in, ensure PoE power settings were correct and screw in place.

[Access Point] Expanded my coverage and allows me to use the extra ports to hardwire to my pc upstairs

[Internal] Works great in my home, happy that it is indeed compatible with generic 802.3af POE switches (but you can't use it for chained POE with 802.3af -- for that you need 802.3at).

[250] I needed to mount a WAP on the wall and this was a great addition to my living room where we spend lots of time. Looks cleaner at the height of wall plugs than the larger, round AC Lite or Pros would look up on the wall.

The pass-through ports are a nice touch as well. Great price too.

[1] Nice unobtrusive access points for corporate or residential installs. Flexibility in configuration, however it requires that you know what you are doing. Secure because there is no web interface. Best if combined with cloud key .

[20 dBm] Works as advertised. Plug into a wall Cat5/6 outlet and adopt into your network. Took just a few minutes to get up and running. Great option for a room that is not getting good coverage from the other APs as long as you have existing Cat5/6 available in that room.

[Yes] Upgraded from a standard home router + cheap APs around the house to a Ubiquiti system and it works great. Needed a separate 802.3af injector to power it. They don't seem to advertise that it works with standard 802.3af PoE, probably because they want you to buy their switches with 802.3at+ PoE. No injectors are included with the device. I'm using the non-PoE ethernet port on it to plug in an Apple TV as well.
