The dedicated Vello EW-83M-F Lens Hood with Filter Panelis specifically designed for use with Canon's EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM & EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lenses. It is primarily used to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of it. A dedicated hood is crafted to perfectly suit the specific focal length of the lens it is designed for. Additionally, this hood features a non-glare matte finish on the interior surface to further prevent or limit lens flare. Also, since the end of the lens is extended, you get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

This lens hood features a filter access panel that allows you to easily reach and adjust rotating filters without the need to remove the hood from the lens. The "petal" shape of this lens hood maximizes the amount of hood coverage for the minimum amount of weight and hood area. The bayonet mount is designed to also work in the reversed position, allowing the hood to be placed backwards over the lens for a more compact storage solution.

Q: 1. I have never used a lens hood before, this may sound very stupid, the hoods diameter is 3 & 1/4 inches, i have the canon lens EFS 18- 55 MM , and the diam of the lens is only 2 3/8 inches. How in the world does this hood attach to the lens.

A: This particular hood is for the Canon 17-55mm f/2.8. For your 18-55mm lens, this model would be a custom fit:Vello EW-60C Dedicated Lens HoodB&H # VELHCEW60C ? Mfr # LHC-EW60C

Q: 2. Will this lens hood work on the RP 24-105mm f4-7.1? Thaks

A: No, the correct hood is the EW73D, click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/32XUo0D

Q: 3. Does this fit the lens sigma 24-70 f2.8 for canon?

A: The Vello EW-83F is a dedicated lens hood for the Canon 24-70 f/2.8 and will not work with a Sigma lens. Try the Vello 82mm Snap-On Tulip Lens Hood: http://bhpho.to/1s73WKo

Q: 4. Hi will this hood work with Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens?

A: Unfortunately, this hood is not compatible for the RF 24-105mm lens. This is made for the EF 24-105mm.

Q: 5. so I bought this hood (for canon 10-22) and it snapped on quite nicely, BUT I can't seem to get it off?? I contacted support and they sent me instruction for a hood with tabs on the sides (obviously not helpful as this model doesn't have tabs - wish it did). Any help is appreciated as I don't want to break the lens (ugh!) - thanks!- Chris

A: Please do this at your own risk. I did not notice that it was very hard to get it off my lens. You feel as if you're going to break the lens. I would strongly suggest that you spend the money to get the Canon brand one. It was worth the investment. I used to buy Vello brand lens hoods before, but I have since stopped.

Q: 6. other canon 24-70 lens hood?

A: Yes, check out the Vello EW-88C Dedicated Lens Hood with Metal Lock https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/883623-REG/vello_lhc_ew88c_ew_88c_dedicated_lens_hood.html

Q: 7. What lens hood fits the canon 18-150 kit lens? I think the filter size is 55 mm.

A: If you are referring to the Canon EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens used on Canon EOS M-series mirrorless digital cameras or the newly-announced Canon RF-S 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens used on Canon EOS R-series mirrorless digital cameras, the Canon EW-60F Lens Hood, B&H # CAEW60F, and the Vello EW-60F Dedicated Lens Hood, B&H # VELHCEW60F, would be dedicated lens hoods compatible for use with the aforementioned lenses, whereas the Vello 55mm Snap-on Tulip Lens Hood (Version II), B&H # VELHS55II, would be a universal lens hood you may screw into the lens' filter threads.

Q: 8. Can you use this lens hood on a ef-m 32mm 1.4? Thanks

A: No. You're looking for the ES-60 hood: https://bhpho.to/2ZYsRdw

Q: 9. Will this fit the RF 24-105 lens?

A: No but the EW-73D would be the correct hood for the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM Lens. Please take a look at the following link: https://bhpho.to/35kao1a

Q: 10. Does the inside of the Vello EW-83F lens hood have a matte finish or the felt lining that the Canon does to further reduce glare?

A: The inside of the hood is just slightly more of a matte finish than the outside. No felt.

[0.12 lb] I haven't used it yet so I really can't give a honest answer I like the fact that it has a access panel where you can easily install or remove the filter without removing the hood!

[Bayonet] I saw some comments in reviews of this hood that it did not fit well. I had no trouble with it. Perfect fit.

[Bayonet] Fits snug to lens. Wasn't sure it was going to fit because it takes more pressure to attach than my other lens hoods. Snug fit is good for operating the filter access panel. Access panel should be good since I take a lot of images using a polarizing filter and need to rotate the filter.

[0.12 lb] I lost my OEM shade for my Canon 24-70 f/4.0 on vacation. Must have banged it and fell off. Anyhow, I use shades for just that reason, not just for flair protection. This aftermarket shade fits and locks as good as the OEM shade. It doesn't have the flocking inside the shade as the canon brand but not sure if that's worth the $50 premium for the canon brand. Very happy with the product.
