[3.7 lb (1.7 kg)] It's very sturdy. My last 2 gator stands with the grip broke in the exact same place after 1 year of use. The HERCULES stand seems to be much more heavy duty and is only $20 more. We'll see if it can take a beating. 5

[5.5 lb (2.5 kg)] the mic has great grip. the rubber coating makes a little harder to slide off than the plastic ones. but thats what i was looking for. it also wont scratch your mics powder coating. just be mindful the quick release mihgt not work for all mic stand booms. if the boom is too skinny in diameter it wont attach. 5
