Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this paper archival?

A: Although the Moab Lasal Exhibition Luster 300 Paper is Acid Free, it still contains optical brightening agents (OBAs), so although this is a good thick exhibition luster, for strict evaluation this is NOT considered an archival paper.

Q: 2. I've been getting some pronounced banding, about 1/2 apart with the canvas on a Canon printer. Is it because I'm using a dye ink? Paperwork says it is designed for pigment.

A: The printheads are about 1/2 apart. So it sounds like an absorbency issue with the ink. This is usually caused from ink incompatibility.

Q: 3. Can this paper be used with an inkjet printer? I have an Epson Photo Stylus R300 and need a replacement paper for Ilford's Smooth Pearl. I do not want glossy paper.

A: This paper is compatible with inkjet printers and is compatible with the R300.

Q: 4. can i use in a L1800?

A: The Epson L1800 is not specified to accept roll fed paper. It can only accept friction fed sheets in the paper feed tray.

Q: 5. Has anyone tried this paper with Epson et 8550?

A: The Lasel Exhibition Luster 300 Paper is 300gsm. That is too thick for your et8550.

Q: 6. This says latex and ink. Is this UV or pigment ink?

A: The HP Professional Gloss Photo Paper (36" x 100' Roll) is compatible with printers that use pigment ink.

Q: 7. Does this paper contain optical brightening agents?

A: For purists, only natural fine art paper that say they don't have optical brighteners, like Canson who have been in business for over 500 years making paper. Although though Moab paper doesn't say anything on their website, brighteners might be present in small quantities.

Q: 8. Is this paper compatible with aquious ink printers? Canon ipf 8400 pigment inks.

A: Yes it is compatible with aqueous (water-base ink) inkjet printers.

Q: 9. Where is this paper made? The box does not say where it is manufactured.... Thanks..

A: This paper is made in Germany.

Q: 10. What's the life of the images printed?

A: Unfortunately there isn't a specific answer, it depends on how the prints are stored, humidity, light and other factors. But in optimal conditions it would last for years.

[6.6 lb] I print my artwork on this paper using my Epson sure color p900. Color is true.

[Gloss, smooth] This paper produce very special photographic high quality prints. The thickness of the paper is very important and thick. It is my choice for archival photographic prints with a non glossy surface.

[Gloss, smooth] This paper provides beautiful fine art look to all images. It has a smooth texture and a very good range from black to white. I use this paper for prints that are displayed at the Booth Art Museum and other galleries.

[335 gsm] Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Silk has been my go-to paper for both black and white and color pigment prints, when I want a semi-gloss finish. Its long tonal range and good separation in highlights and shadows won my heart after I tested it against about a zillion other papers. However, Ilford has regrettably discontinued it, and it's becoming quite difficult to get. They have replaced it with Gold Fibre Gloss, which, despite its name also has a semi-gloss finish, and almost the same tonal response, but without optical brighteners, the whites are supressed just a little bit--enough to make me and a lot of other users search for an alternative (Canson Photographique II, which also seems to be unavailable at this time). It's a tough moment for semi-gloss users! This made me re-discover my love for matte papers, like the Moab Entrada Rag Bright 300.

[6.6 lb] I wanted a paper that would give me nice deep blacks rather than the brownish tones I was seeing with other Baryta papers. This one delivered very nicely. I would recommend. I'm using an Epson R3000 printer.

[335 gsm] The Gloss on this canvas makes it look outstanding & it is easy to bend compared to metallic/glossy type canvas. Highly recommended!

[Gloss, smooth] As local photo suppliers for Ilford papers close one by one, B&H is a quick and reliable source.

[335 gsm] I don't know why this paper is not more popular but it an excellent baryta paper, in all respects very much like the now discontinued Canson Baryta Photographique (the original version) and Epson Legacy Baryta (original version). It's next to impossible to distinguish the Innova paper from the other two mentioned, except for perhaps a very slight difference in surface finish (and I'm not sure about that). For people wanting a successor baryta paper to the other two, this seems to be it and, at least for now, it appears to be readily available from Innova's American warehouse in one of the northeast states, although not always in stock at B&H .
