Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What cables/connectors/adapters are needed to use this with the Hero4?

A: No cables are needed because the Timecode Systems SyncBac PRO Timecode Sync System for GoPro HERO4 attaches to the back of the GoPro HERO4.

Q: 2. Can I plug a tram into this and use it with the recorder

A: The Tentacle Sync 3-Pin LEMO to 3.5mm Mini Jack Microphone Adapter can be used with a Tram TR50 Lavalier Microphone that is equipped with a 3-pin LEMO female connector to connect it to the input of a recorder that has a locking 3.5mm TRS input such as Tascam DR-10L Portable Audio Recorder or a Zoom F2 Portable Field Recorder.

Q: 3. Does the SyncBac ensure frame accurate (jam) sync between multiple GoPros, i.e: if this was used for 360-video rigs would all camera shutters fire at the same time?

A: From the manufacturer. The SyncBac PRO enables frame accurate timecode to be embedded directly in the camera mp4 media. The SyncBac PRO does not 'genlock' the cameras in an array however, so the shutters will not be exactly firing at the same time.We have worked with Kolor's AVP software and the have added a really neat 'auto sync to timecode' mode for the camera media clips before the stitch. This feature is on v3.0 onwards. It works really well with fast results & no need to visually ID each take or clap and audio cue for each take. The other real workflow benefit is that using the pulse unit as the master 'mini base station' you can control and configure all the cameras in the rig from our free BLINK hub app - turn ON/OFF, START/STOP, set all resolutions and modes, monitor battery status and SD card status.

Q: 4. will this work on the hero 5 aswell?

A: No, the Hero 5 does not have the pin connector on the rear like the 4.

Q: 5. Can I use this cable to feed time code from a Sound Devices 633 or 702T into the mic in on my Canon 5D mkii?

A: The cable will give you TC out of the SD machines, but I do not believe that the 5D can jam sync internal TC in the camera through a mic input with an AGC. Use a TC slate (Movieslate on an iPad?) which you can jam to the SD machines using this cable, show the camera the slate when you roll, and this will get you close enough to sync double system .wav files in post.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with Timecode Systems Timecode Buddy Wifi master as the timecode master source?

A: Both the SyncBac and the Timecode Buddy work on the same ICM band, 865 to 923 MHz RF. It should work as you wish.

Q: 7. Can this cable provide Tentacle sync to a Red?

A: I do not believe this cable will work. While we do not sell the Tentacle System, I was able to find this diagram on their website that shows cabling going from the Tentacle to a RED camera. RED cameras have a 4 Pin LEMO, not 5 Pin.http://bit.ly/2hI7TYMWe do have B&H #RECAZERXEPIC, which is a TRS 3.5mm to 4 Pin Lemo. This cable may work, but you really will want to consult directly with Tentacle for their opinion on the matter first.

Q: 8. Will the camera still fit into the dive housing with the SyncbacPro ?

A: Yes it will. You will also need the extended backdoors for that housing.

Q: 9. - Can this be connected to A20 or A30 aviation headsets? - Would it provide power to the headset? - 5 pins or 6 pins?

A: The Sound Devices 5-Pin LEMO to USB-C Timecode Cable for A20-Mini is intended for use to send timecode to the Sound Devices A20-Mini Digital Wireless Bodypack Transmitter and Recorder (B&H # SOA20MINI). This cable will not work with aviation headsets.

Q: 10. Is this wired properly to feed a line level to the Alexa Mini audio in?

A: This cable is designed for timecode use only and for connection to smartphones.

[0.04 lb] Took an ordinary, inexpensive HERO4 Silver and made it something extraordinary and useful again for documentary work, as a third camera, as well as B-roll. Thanks for the deal, B&H!

[0.04 lb] This is a well made cable and I have no complaints. But, make sure you understand that the cable will attenuate your signal. This is good for going to an iPad, etc, but can cause a low signal if you're going directly into a video camera.

[Black] The pic on the website doesn't show it, but the pouch also includes a velcro flap with a belt hook style clamp that works great for mounting on the side of my audio bag (Orca OR-30). Makes for more storage room inside the bag for other gear!

The unit is held inside the pouch by a flam with magnets sown in. Seems to be quality and I trust it to hold.

The only weird thing is the velcro patch with the belt hook on it is the same rectangular shape as the whole side of the pouch, and the hook is sideways (lengthwise) instead of vertical like I would prefer to "hang" it. So when it is hung this way the rectangle shape of the velcro doesn't match up with the horizontal orientation of the pouch with unit inside. Not a big deal, but wanted to mention.

[0.04 lb] I too just purchased for trusty GoPro Hero 4 to use with Ninja V and the AtomX Sync module. Works like a champ! Not only perfect timecode sync, but wireless record start of the GoPro to boot, measured at 5 frames after the Ninja V starts. The concept that I can start the Ninja and the gopro by one press of my Z6 release button, and align them to timecode blows my mind. Very convenient, and the RF channel communication is more solid than dealing with Bluetooth. Set and forget so far.
