A: The IndiPRO Tools D-Tap to LP-E6 Dummy Battery Cable (30") (B&H# INPTLPD) may be used to replace the functionality of an LP-E6, LP-E6N, or LP-E6NH battery. It is regulated to provide the requisite 7.2VDC at up to 2A. That is sufficient to equal the functionality of that battery. Users of the Canon EOS R5 C Mirrorless Cinema Camera (B&H # CAER5C) should keep in mind that it will not provide the higher voltage and wattage of the Canon DR-E6C DC Coupler for EOS R5 C (B&H# CADRE6C) that is required for full electronic lens control at frame rates above 30p in 8K, above 30p in 5.9K, or above 60p in 2.9K modes.

Q: 4. Is the D-tap standard size? Why is it called mini-tap?

A: Yes, the D-Tap is the standard size. We call this line Mini-Taps to differentiate from our Standard D-Tap Cables. These Mini-Tap cables all feature an additional Female D-Tap output on one side and the other has a built in 5V USB interface for charging various electronic devices.

Q: 5. Any issues with the canon r5?

A: According to GyroVu, the USB to Canon LP-E6 intelligent dummy battery does not have compatibility issues with the Canon EOS R5/R6 cameras.

Q: 6. Can I use this hooked up to an anker power bank to power up the blackmagic 4k?

A: This model with work with any power bank. But depending on the device you will be powering with LP-E6 it might require certain power output. Low current output power banks will not have enough current to power some cameras or monitors. Q: 7. If I don't have a D-Tap Source, Can I solder in a good 12v or 5v adapter on the D-Tap End and use this to power my camera directly for the wall?

A: We are not aware of that being possible with this product.

Q: 8. What is the power input range from the D-tap source eg. 11-17v and will this power a Sony FS100?

A: This will accept the power range of whatever battery it can connect to. However, what is more important is the power output of the battery. The P-tap of the battery must nominally rated at the cameras battery rating of 7.2VDC. If you connect this to a 14.4 volt P-tap and then to the camera, you greatly risk damaging it.

Q: 9. Does this battery have a regulator in it? I want to use a 12v power source.

Q: 10. Can this be used to power an external monitor (smallhd 502 bright)?

A: Yes this should be able to power an external monitor such as the SmallHD 502. Just ensure that the power block/source you use has the proper voltage output to power your monitor.

[D-Tap, male] I didn't realize how much use I would get out of these cables. I mainly use them to power some of our SmallHD monitors either from the D-Tap port on the Ronin or out of our IndiPRO battery plates on our cameras. I also recently started using it with my Canon 5D Mark III while shooting timelapses. I don't have a plate specifically for the 5D, but I borrow a different plate and use this cable to keep the camera powered for 10+ hour timelapses 5

[4.5 A] I have two of these - one for Canon body, one for Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera. When the cameras are powered from a 98 WH IDX battery with D-taps, I can run the cameras literally all-day without worrying when the battery needs to be changed. So far everything works perfectly - no problems with fit, no problems with function. Nothing gets hot. Very happy with these adapters. 5

[0.145 lb] I was dummy enough to not knowing you have to successfully close the battery door in order to use the dummy battery. I even requested a refund lol and didn’t notice the little sticker on the adapter. This item is perfect especially I own two 95 v mount batteries. I can now shoot all day. 5

[4.5 A] This is a great way to run a camera off a v-mount battery or any other battery with a d-tap out. I attached it to my Watson Pro VM-144-MN mini v-mount battery, and it is working flawlessly. The larger batteries with a d-tap last much, much longer than the LP-E6 camera batteries. On a side note, I love the Watson brand batteries. They are great, last long and provide excellent bang for the buck. My v-mount battery lasts all day with my Canon 5D M3. I love that. And if you put your camera on rails, they make mounts for v-mount batteries, so this could be used for a great run and gun set-up. Perfect for long days of shooting or to impress a client with your cool camera rig. It's perfect for long shoots or when the camera needs to run for a long time without the need to change batteries. It is also great for table-tops, match cut shots, stop motion animation shoots or any situation where you can't move the camera or it is difficult to change batteries, like when on a jib. The coiled cable is a great length that stretches out to 24” but coils up nice and neat when you do not need the entire length. My Canon 5d M3 has a little notch on the battery door to pass the cable thru for this dummy battery. This should be the case for all Canon cameras that use the LP-E6 battery. It was very easy to install. The build quality of this dummy battery is also very impressive. This dummy battery also comes with a built-in voltage regulator to protect everything, which is great. Another added benefit to this dummy battery adapter is having this in your kit as a great emergency back-up for power. I like having that as a nice peace of mind. I'm very happy with this product.
