Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. My C stand legs did not come with a knob to move them around. Is this normal?

A: C-stands that do not feature a knob at the bottom of the base generally have a fixed base where it cannot be separated from the column. On the other hand, C-stands that have the knob at the bottom of the base would allow the base to separate from the riser or would have a non-removable base which can put the legs into an offset position for an uneven surface.

Q: 2. What transport case is recommended for these

A: A case like the Hakuba PSTC 400 Pro Series Light Stand, B&H # HAPSTC400 would be suitable to hold the riser, base and grip arm of this stand. Please see the image below.

Q: 3. How do I attach a Profoto head to this setup? Do I need another piece?

A: Avenger E650 6 inch baby pin with collar...I have two profoto B1 myself

Q: 4. What's the difference between Avenger A2033FKIT & A2033LKIT (L kit) ?

A: The A2033LKIT has sliding leg

Q: 5. Can you buy casters/wheels for this, and if so which ones???

A: There are no casters for c-stands.

Q: 6. What is the height of just the centre column ie once is base is detached?

A: 46.46 almost 46.5

Q: 7. Stupid question, how do you connect a strobe without the end being a baby pin connector? I've never owned a c-stand, so I'm unfamiliar. Thanks!

A: Every studio grade strobe I've ever had...Ascor, Speedotron, Broncolor or Buff has mounted directly to a standard C stand. On camera flash units will require an adapter or at least gaffer tape.

Q: 8. Has anyone been able to have hands-on experience with the Avenger vs Matthews C-stands? Is one better made than the other? I heard that the Matthews design has better grip on arms and knuckles? I'm trying to figure out which brand I would like to invest in for C-stands mini booms and combo stands

A: There are some advantages to both. I own and operate a lighting and grip rental house, and have been a working grip for about 15 years. Here's my experiencesMatthews: -Lighter weight overall (not necessarily a plus. Having a heavier c-stand can be very very helpful).-somewhat thinner plating. The legs tend to get nicks and rust spots a bit sooner.-better heads and arms. The design of the heads is different. Matthews has grooved jaws, which do a better job of keeping things from spinning. They have one less part in the locking mechanics on the heads, and break less often.Avenger: heavier, better plating. Heads are more prone to break. Older avenger heads were truly crappy, but sometime around 5-7 years ago they changed their head mechanics, and they work better now. They still feel soft compared to Matthews, but they are far better than they used to be.At our shop we have Avenger c-stands exclusively, but we own additional heads and arms from Matthews for rigging applications. We prefer Matthews junior grip heads as well.

Q: 9. what's the diameter of the arm? because i have an adapter to that with size 5/8 hole to fit a top stud / c-stand arm...

A: Hi,I have not received the order yet and because of that I can answer your question.BWEyfinnur

Q: 10. is this the only kit set that provide sliding legs? do you offer the Kit 33 sliding leg set?

A: They Fold flat, perhaps that what you mean by sliding? the vertical column comes apart from the folding base. great for packing, they make the same stand with folding legs where the column does not come out.

[Black] Sturdy and durable - these Avenger stands are my go-to on location or in the studio. Easily accepts a mini-boom when more reach is needed too.

[Steel] the best

[Not Compatible] This stand has a nice finish to it and clean design. The grip arms are top notch and I love the rubber boots over the knobs. Will complete the rest of my set with two more of these in a C-stand bag for travel.
The only stand that I own that is more solid than this is the KUPO c-stand with turtle base which is gorgeous stand. But for on location work it is a heavy stand coming in at one 3 lbs more than this stand. Sometimes you have to strike a balance which this stand did for me.

[Black] This is the second Avenger C-stand/grip arm combo I have purchased, this one for on-location shoots so I don't have to break down and lug the one I now can have permanently in the studio. I use it mainly for a hair light, fitted with a Profoto B1X head and gridded beauty dish. The arm (with a sandbag counterweight at the other end of the arm) is long enough so the hair light can extend and come almost from straight above my subject.

[Black] This is a very sturdy stand for my studio strobes. Even on the boom it holds my soft box or beauty dish securely. I do wish the ends of the boom arm had screws on them. The boom simply ends and you either have to put the light on the clamp with a small extender, or screw it onto the smooth end of the arm itself. So long as everything stays tight all is good, but I do worry about using the boom at a downward angle and the light loosening then slipping off. It hasn't happened, and I put it on tight, but I would have preferred screw on adapters or a detent at the end for the mounting screw to go into, to hold the light more securely.

[3] this is what you're looking for when buying a turtle base c-stand. Quality is first class.

[5/8" Stud] I've seen Avengers stands with 10 years of heavy lifting and still going strong which is why this brand was a no brainer. They are heavier than some other brands, but I personally like that as I don't worry about tipping when a smaller payload is on top. They also stack well in the back of a vehicle. Black is a huge plus.

[Black] These are the unsung hero to photoshoots. They can help do almost anything. Avenger in my opinion make the very best, and worth the price tag. I've had some for almost 10 years now that still work as flawlessly as the day I bought them. Don't skimp out, and use these for the rest of your life!

[18 lb] I love all my C-stands. I currently own American, Matthews, Avengers, Kupo and Norms. I bought a second Avengers this time in black for certain situations where I want to prevent any sort of reflection. I bought an Avengers due to it's great price and built quality. There's so many things I love about each brand, and one of those from Avengers is the rubber handle grip cover.

[5/8" Stud] It is very solid and sturdy. It is much better than light stands but heavy to transport.
