Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. On the 8 port passive POE switch, could you power a POE device and a POE+ device?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks US-8 UniFi 8-Port Gigabit PoE Compliant Managed Switch can only supply PoE power via its single PoE passthough port.

Q: 2. Does this switch additional power supply if already connected by PoE input?

A: No, if you connect this switch with POE, you do not need to use the additional power supply.

Q: 3. Can it be powered from the second port of UAP-AC-PRO?

A: No, the second port on the UAP-AC-PRO would not pass the power through to the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch Flex 5-Port Managed Gigabit PoE Network Switch BH #UBUSWFLEX.

Q: 4. Can a port be downgraded to 24v passive while other ports remain 802.3af like the larger Unify switches or only able to do 48v?

A: Depending on the mode the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch Flex 5-Port Managed Gigabit PoE Network Switch BH #UBUSWFLEX supports 44-57v PoE.

Q: 5. Does this make your internet faster with a separate router and Modem?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Lite 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Managed Switch will not improve internet connection speeds, however, it may improve speeds between devices on the network if your current switch has less internal throughput.

Q: 6. Can you power a NSM5 nanostation with a USW-Flex?

A: Yes, the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch Flex 5-Port Managed Gigabit PoE Network Switch can power the Ubiquiti Networks airMAX NanoStationM 5 GHz Outdoor Router.

Q: 7. what software do i use to manage this switch.? can it be managed via web browser with an IP address?

A: As others have already said, you would need the UniFi controller.

Q: 8. What power adapter can I use with the USW-Flex Switch? I think the PoE-50-60W. Yes?

A: Yes, that is correct.

Q: 9. Does this unit have a fan?

A: No. The case is used as a heatsink and becomes extremely hot to the touch.

Q: 10. Can the POE ports (5-8) have the POE turned off?

A: YES. Two ways:1) As others have mentioned, the ports are auto sensing, meaning you can plug in a non PoE device and it'll work without PoE and won't damage the device.2) From the Unifi Controller (I'm running v5.3.11), you can click on Devices | your switch | Ports | Edit (pencil) port | PoE | Off (the other option is PoE ).

[61.6 W] This switch has been up and running for two weeks without problems. It was easy to install and configure with the unifi controller. You do not have to be an IT professional to deploy this thing in your home but having the unifi controller for your network devices really gives you an incentive to learn what you can truly do with these things, which is alot! A+++

[10 lb] I have this being powered from a UniFi US-16 150w POE switch and powering a UniFi AP-AC-Pro access point through the POE pass-through port.

[Yes] I have deployed these switches in places where it was hard to run power. So far they have been operating great and no problems.
Only one concern is thermal issues, since this product gets very warm when all ports are filled and it is passing through POE to power wireless AP.

[Yes] I don't need any PoE ports, but this is my first managed switch, and I like it. I could use more ports altogether, so when I upgrade to a 16- or 24-port model this will go on my desk, but until then this does the job.

[Passive] Easy as pie, connect to power, either POE or wall, adopt in Unifi controller, update and that's it. Ubiquiti gear and the Unifi line is the best there is.
