This compact camera features a 1" type Exmor CMOS image sensor, a 12x Zeiss optical zoom, and PoE+ support. For capturing tight sports shots, etc. Clear Image Zoom Technology increases the optical zoom to 24x in HD and 18x in 4K while maintaining the exceptional image quality of the Zeiss Vario-Sonnar zoom lens. The BRC-X1000 features flexible PoE+ (Power-over-Ethernet) installation, utilizing a single cable to carry both IP camera control and power. For multi-camera productions, a Genlock feature is used to integrate the BRC-X1000 with other systems. Up to 16 camera positions can be preset on the BRC-X1000, enabling a single operator to control multiple units.

The BRC-X1000 camera features HDMI and dual-link 3G-SDI outputs, and Ethernet and RS-422 control interfaces. Remote control functions include pan, tilt, zoom, focus, iris, shutter speed, and gain. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this have auto-tracking of subjects or faces?

A: No auto-tracking feature is currently published by the manufacturer, but because this camera's firmware is easily upgraded via its IP, there may be some future firmware addendums along the way, which may address subject/face tracking.

Q: 2. We have this camera wired 422 to RM-BR300. Controls movement and can set presets but no control over white balance and gain. What are we doing wrong?

A: Sony BRC-X1000/WPW 4K PTZ Camera with 1" CMOS Sensor and PoE+ (White) Color balance is a parameter handled via the on-screen menu. Use the IR remote.Data Screen Color.

Q: 3. Can filters be screwed on the the lens?

A: They cannot. You can not screw filters to this camera's lens.

Q: 4. Could I Control the BRC-X1000 with a Panasonic AW RP120? I would assume over IP connection.

A: No you cannot. Panasonic and Sony use different protocols for control therefore Panasonic Controllers can not control Sony Cameras.

Q: 5. does this camera require shielded CAT6 or higher?

A: You will need to use Cat 5e or higher rated cables. Using Shielded cable will be a good idea for installation purposes, but not necessary.

Q: 6. How can white balance be calibrated? I've heard complaints.

A: This camera offers two AUTO White Balance settings which you can adjust the speed at which it changes the balance. It also offers presets for Indoors and Outdoors. Finally it has a ONE PUSH White Balance and Manual White Balance.

Q: 7. What is the CAT6 distance limit? What is the SDI limit?

A: CAT6 cable length limit for IP control is 100 meters (328 ft.), 3500 ft. for RS-422 control. SDI cable length limit depends on the cable type which is dictated by the signal SD, HD, 4K etc, etc you are sending. So that we my further assist you, please email us. provideo@bhphoto.com.

Q: 8. Is there an online software that I may be able to connect via IP from outside the network to control the cameras?

A: While does offer software to control this camera, we are not aware of it being operable from outside of the network the cameras are installed within.

Q: 9. Did Sony make this camera so it can zoom slower than the BRC-H800? It was not possible to zoom slow enough with that camera to get professional results. I was wondering if the engineers ironed that out in this unit. Thanks!

A: Hello, James! The BRC-X1000 has a much slower zoom capability. The issue with the H900 is that if you tried to zoom slower, then the lens becomes unstable. If you are using the X1000 and put the camera into ramp mode 3 and you combine with the RMIP500 (with its variable speed zoom control), you can do on air zooms that the H900 cannot. ~Zac

Q: 10. Can this camera be used with the Sony IR-IP10 controller?

A: This camera is compatible with the RM-IP10 and the RM-IP500 controllers

[12x] This is a great PTZ camera for the money. The camera has much to offer in terms of functionality and quality. We are using it to live-stream church services. We stream on of six locations within the church - four of which are 30 - 40 feet from where the camera is mounted. The other two are 8 and 15 feet. Great picture quality at all six presets. In addition to joystick controls, the remote control, and the web-browser interface, the camera can also be operated through an HTTP API. With a little help from tech support, we are using the api with OBS software such that scenes in OBS command the camera to the appropriate preset. Tech support at AVIPAS responds quickly and knowledgeably.

[NTSC/PAL] This is the second purchase of this model camera for us. We use both cameras in our worship service. They have been a great purchase. The clarity of this camera is great for the price point! Easy install, and user friendly functionality. I would recommend to anyone looking for good quality in a reasonable price range.

[NTSC/PAL] This is the fifth one that I have installed in a church for online broadcast. I ordered this one to replace a camera that they had been pleased with, that is until I installed two of these AV-1280's. The image is day and night better than what they had before as a PtZ camera. I will continue to use these in the future and suggest they are the best for the money.

[f/2.8 to 4.5] For the price this camera has an exception clarity that we use in church live streaming to internet. It is half the cost of the next best camera and the optical zoom works flawlessly.
Great job by the manufacturer.

[PoE+ 802.3at] Unlike most PTZ cameras, this unit will send out 59.94 and 29.97 frame rates. That means it will play well with finicky switchers like Blackmagic Design products. AND won't give you moving black lines across your screen that you get with 60, 50, 30 and other European standards as a result of your AC power frequency conflicts. Image looks good. Everything necessary is very adjustable. Great camera at half the price of it's closest competition.

[Yes] Though we did not buy this cam from B&H, we thought it would be a good idea to leave a review because we absolutely love this camera. When we purchased it, the firmware was not up to date and the camera was impossible to control, as the other reviews mentioned. It simply was not possible to follow a moving subject on stage, rendering the camera useless in our work environment. With a quick update and an update to our Sony RM-IP500 via our PC, the camera is now super smooth. If you purchase this cam new, it will likely have the latest firmware installed.

It is important to note that for some reason, Sony decided to sell these cameras with the slow control function disabled. This makes no sense, why would anybody want a PTZ camera with poor control? You need to turn it on and it's very easy to do:

-Go into the camera menu and select System
-Change the P/T speed type to Extd. STEP or Extd. Range
-If you select Extd. Range turn the P/T Slow Mode to On.
-Also under the System Menu change the Zoom Speed Type to Extd. Range
-If you do not see these options in your menu, you must update your firmware. The manual explains how to do this with a PC and it was not difficult.

We also love the Trace feature. With Trace, you can record a movement and save it as a preset.

We highly recommend this camera and look forward to purchasing more in the future.
