A: Depends on application. Attempting to shoot high-key can be difficult as the vinyl is quick to produce specular highlights.

Q: 3. In the featured image, you can see the texture of the vinyl. How far does the subject need to be away so that it just looks completely smooth in the background? I understand this will vary based on things like f-stop etc.

A: Position your subject around 6' in front of the background

Q: 4. Interested if this would work as a floor in a shoot? We shoot dance photos and presently tape a 10x20 cloth background on the floor with a carpet pad underneath, and hang a 10x20 cloth background. Inevitably the black cloth on the floor picks up dust and footprints and we're looking for a vinyl that would be easier to sweep/mop quickly between shots. It would need to lie flat, we would tape the edges with gaffers tape. Interested in your opinion! Thanks!

A: I have 2 of these vinyl backgrounds and it has been used as flooring. It does lay flat and I didn't need to tape it down. I recommend putting it on a flat floor though, it works better that way. Putting a vinyl on a carpet will tend to create sinking spots, not recommended for photography. We had a videographer record a Michael Jackson impersonator dancing on it. This picks up dust as well, but a whole lot easier to clean. Hope this helps.

A: These are it's operating specs: Operating Temperature 59 to 86° F (15 to 30°C) Operating Humidity 25 to 75% RH (non-condensing) Within these ranges it will last up to 6 months outdoors.

A: Do you mean the same brightness as an 18% gray, like for metering? I don't have one but I would say it is close. Maybe a little lighter. If you mean is it a neutral gray, like for white balancing, it is very neutral. Be aware that this backdrop has a noticeable texture to it, so if you are shooting close up tabletop work that may be an issue. It is for me. Can we post pictures here? A: It is vinyl sheeting of probably 6mil+ thickness. It is not a thin film. Think more like a fabric shower curtain.

A: As far as I'm concerned, yes. It's a little heavy, but rolled up and back in its shipping tube, it fits in an average car with one end in the front footwell and the rest leaning toward the back of the car. Does not get in my way when driving. FYI, this is my third vinyl ground. I use it on flat surface for shooting museum needlework. I did not understand that the surface could scratch (a bit like a record) which eventually led me to purchasing #2. And the third one I take with me for shoots not in the museum where I usually work (and have vinyl ground #2 stored.). I use distilled water and a clean rag to clean. LOVE this product.

A: We can confirm the IPF770 will print on vinyl. We have never heard or seen a IPF740.
