Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will this cable work AND supply phantom power to a Shure VP88 stereo mic?

A: Yes, this Cable Techniques Y-cable will work with the Shure VP88. In order to power the mic, each of the 3-pin XLR connectors must be connected to a phantom power

Q: 2. Does it pass phantom power? Thanks

A: Yes it does

Q: 3. Does this cable work with the Arri Amira?

A: Yes it will work.

Q: 4. Can these cables handle 48v phantom power? I want this cables because of their low profile look, and use them into a regular home studio setup (Podcasting, and vocals recording), but I dont know if there's a con with that, might over heating.

A: This cable handles Phantom power 48v, I've used them in the past to provide a shotgun mic with 48v from a camcorder and had no issues.

Q: 5. Does anyone know if this matches the pinouts on the Avantone Pro CK-40?

A: So far this cable has been compatible with all microphones that sport a 5-pin connection (Sennheiser, Audio-Technica and more). That being said, Avatone suggested that there are no standards and upon request (info@avantonepro.com), they will email you the pin schematics. P.S. ck-40 ships with a break out box. If the box is still functional and present, any 5-pin to 5-pin cable should definitely work.

Q: 6. Are the input angles adjustable at the connectors?

A: No, the connectors on the Remote Audio 3-Pin XLR Right Angle Male to 3-Pin XLR Right Angle Female Coiled Jumper Cable are not adjustable. They are fixed at 90 degrees.

Q: 7. Will this cable be good for filmmaking and exterior shooting? If not, what cable will be?

A: Yes, the Mogami Gold Stage 3-Pin XLR Male to XLR Female Mic Cable - 30' is a great, durable cable choice for many audio applications including exterior filmmaking.

Q: 8. What is the weight of the cable, without packaging?

A: I'm sorry, but I don't have a listed weight for the Cable Techniques Coiled Jumper Cable Low-Profile (6 to 15"). This is normally packaged in a simple plastic bag, so the 0.155 lbs packed weight is very close to the weight of the cable alone.

Q: 9. I plan to use this for a mid-side array - assuming this is wired like the Rycote Conbox? I’ll be running a 5 pin XLR from the male to the mixer. Thanks.

A: This is the recommended cable for the Rycote Conn Box: BH #RYCB3HWMSXLR https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/861410-REG/Rycote_016924_ConnBox_Microphone_Cable.html

Q: 10. Will this also work with the schoeps cable https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1513008-REG/schoeps_ak_2l_su_adapter_cable_2_lemo_to.html ?

A: The Schoeps AK 2L/SU Adapter Cable with two LEMO connectors and an XLR-5M is intended for use with a pair of Schoeps CCM-L Microphones which are equipped with LEMO output connectors. The Remote Audio CAXSTE 5-Pin Stereo XLR Female to Dual XLR Male Y-Cable can be used with the Schoeps cable to enable connection of the pair of microphones to two standard XLR 3-pin mic inputs.

[Gold] Used this on a few jobs and it's been great for an on-camera mic, on my c500 mkII. It's a solid build, both ends connect and disconnect well. Sound is flawless.

The coil is a little bit tight/stretched when connecting it to the rear XLR inputs on the c500 (with the Canon handle and mic mount). But it still leaves plenty of stretch and doesn't stress the cable.

[0.3 lb] I mount the NTG 4+ to a Rode Mount on the from pod of the XF605
as an alternative to the supplied Canon Shotgun mount ( Because )
the Canon mount is semi permanent and sticks out to far too the side and prevents it from fitting in many bags. As an added Bonus there Rode Mount has much better Suspension

[Black] My experience with all Cable Techniques audio cables has been positive. This one is no different. Some have noted that it's a bit short...which it is, but only you can decide whether it will work in your kit. Compact, high quality, flexibility...all the things you want, nothing you don't.

[0.3 lb] Using this engineering marvel on broadcast handheld cameras eliminates the dreaded 10 foot “that’s the shortest one this truck has” xlr cable foisted upon an innocent camera operator by an uncaring A2. The low profile connectors are adjustable with the included Allen wrench. The coiled jumper stays in place and out of the way. Please enjoy.

[Gold] Perfect size for on camera or end of boom pole. I use it with a Sanken Cs-M1 on the end of boom pole. It's great for this.

[0.3 lb] These work great. Stupid me, I mistaken it to be feet instead of inches, but still made good use of them. The low profile design is probably one of the best I've used. I will definitely be buying more or other cables.

[Black] Low profile cables will always be a sound mixer’s dream. The cable that comes with it is thinner then the usual XLR cable but seems strong. I’ve only used it on a 4 day shoot but think it’ll last a long time.
