The Icy Dock 6-Bay 2.5" SAS/SATA Drive Cage for 5.25" Bayfrom Icy Dock 6-Bay 2.5" SAS/SATA Drive Cage for 5.25" Bayoccupies a desktop's 5.25" bay to provide your system with six hot-swap 2.5" storage drive bays. These drive bays support internal 2.5" SSDs and HDDs that feature a SAS or SATA interface. Furthermore, the bays are able to accommodate 5 to 9.5mm tall drives.

Mounting your drives is quick and easy with the included ExpressTrays, which attach to a drive via built-in screws and a rear tab. Screw holes are also available beneath the tray to provide additional stability.

For cooling, two 40mm fans are on board while an adjustable speed jumper lets you set the fan's speed to High, Low, or Auto. Powering all six drives can be accomplished via two 15-pin SATA power connections. Moreover, Active Power Technology keeps the enclosure powered down until a drive is inserted.

[6x 2.5" ] fits 3 drives into the space of two CD drives, great space saver, nice hot swap, sturdy built, fast delivery. Simple to use, great for throw a drive in backup video data/system take it out and secure deposit it off site. easy to install, good capacity. 5

[Metal, Plastic] Pros: Self contained. Doesn't use up resources Cons: Longer than a standard 3.5 drive The drives stay loose on the trays. It looks as though the holes for the drives are slightly too wide for the screws provided. I had same issue with different screws. Product works fine as is. Other Thoughts: I've been installing these on our manufacturing equipment on their CPCI controllers. Only wish ICYDOCK offered a tray for CPCI setups. I've been making my own at a local maker space. Of the 7 I've installed so far, I've only had one bad unit. I'll be sending it back for warranty. Still a great solution for our needs. I would like to see some indication, either via lights or the monitoring software, that the unit has finished building the new RAID array. To avoid loosing any data, I first install the SSD and power up the unit. Give it 5min to build the array. Then take out the SSDs and clone the original drives. The manual is not very specific about this. 5

[1.135 lb] I was looking to build a seven SSD RAID in my HP z820 for video playback and found this 8 bay Icy Dock on B&H. �I thought they only built these for 6 drives, but was psyched to find one cage to hold all of my drives. This is a sturdy metal case that holds the eight drives neatly and secure while allowing for easy access at the push of a button. �The dual fans on the back provide cooling for the drives. I highly recommend this storage solution for anyone looking to mount multiple ssds 5

[6x 2.5" ] This is a great product if you have limited space and power. Use 1- 5.25 Drive Bay and then mount up to 2 - 2.5mm drives and one slimline (Laptop) dvd/blueray Drive in unit. I'll be getting another :-) :-) If the screws don't fit then use other screws. Extra power connectors on the back if you don't have the right one coming from your power supply. 5

[6x 2.5" ] My Super Micro has only 4@ 3.5" internal drives but the SEAX11 system board supports 8 SATA ports. This drive cage gives me devices for the other 4 ports. � I now have two BIOS selectable boot systems each in RAID-1 configuration. No data is stored on this storage, just the boot configuration which is quite small compared to today's 2.5" drive capacities. 5

[6x 2.5" ] I recently acquired a Dell 5180 workstation. It has a mirror pair of boot SSDs but not local storage. Fine for an enterprise workstation, but not a home system. The Icy Dock enabled me to add two more 2.5 HDDs and a multi-card reader to teh only 5.25 bay. Only complaint, had to purchase a SATA power splitter. Would have been easy to include in packaging. 5
