Would two of these JBL SRX815P 15" Two-Way Bass Reflex Self Powered System (tops), together with two of these JBL SRX818SP (sub-woofers) suffice for a DJ event (EDM or Hip Hop) with 50 people IN AN OPEN SPACE? Or double it up? Also, how would I connect the tops to the subs? (Model number?) Also, any competitor model which you could recommend instead of the JBLs?

A: Although speculative when estimating how well a speaker will fill an open space, each JBL SRX815P 15" Two-Way Bass Reflex Self Powered System offers 2000W of power on its own, which seems significant for a small crowd of 50 people. When paired with the JBL SRX818SP 18" Self-Powered Subwoofer System, source audio would feed the subwoofer, and the subwoofer would feed signal to the tops with standard 3-pin XLR audio cable.

[152.12 lbs] I just installed two of these, along with suitable wall treatments, in a gymnasium that was converted into a church auditorium. They perform great. The variable beam width and asymmetrical vertical pattern put the sound where I needed it and kept it off the walls and ceiling. Their size doesn't make them look like speaker arrays - they almost disappear into the room. I added the low frequency extensions to fill out the spectrum. They ARE NOT rock concert speakers. When properly installed in a space, they are a perfect solution to difficult sound control situations. I would install them again in the proper application! So called experts who diss them don't know what they are doing. 5

[2-way - passive] These are great for monitors and work well for mains in a small club. To get the best reproduction, use a least a crown amp with 500W into 8 Ohms. If you are using them for mains, I recommend sweeping it with a 1/3 octave eq. 5

[White] They performed as well as expected, magnificently! Very much meant for the lower end of the audio spectrum with the kicks than the higher highs. All the documentation that came with it was quite helpful as well such as how to hang it. 5

[Speaker] We use these in an auditorium for dances, seminars and everything in between. Paired with 18 JBL subs, they more than fill the bill. They are PHENOMENAL. Well-built, powerful, clear sound, zero complaints. May very well buy more for another venue. 5
