Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can one project movies on the white backdrop with a good result? I might just turn the studio into movie theatre on the side.

A: Yes

Q: 2. How long is this roll pulled all the way down? I understand its 5' by 7' but how long is the roll?

A: It is 5 feet wide by 7 feet long.

Q: 3. What does infinity mean in relation to the color? Does it mean that it has a color gradient? I would like a solid white backdrop. Thank you!

A: This backdrop has no gradient, it is pure white throughout.

Q: 4. Is it 'see-through'? Can I use it outdoors?

A: No, it's not see-through ....not transparent or translucent. I've used mine outdoors many times. Works great for keying, especially with the subject 3-4 feet in front of it.

Q: 5. Is the back of this white or gray

A: The backside is gray.

Q: 6. How would someone roll this up?? I looked at the vari systems and they only support 22 lbs. But the specs on this 9x20 say it weighs 29 lbs. I'd like to get this 9x20 but I don't know how to roll it up

A: It comes rolled on a heavy duty cardboard roll inside a cardboard tube. I just roll it back up, slide back in the tube and store it till next time.

Q: 7. Is this photo gray the same as 18% gray used for face photos?Savage 5 x 7' Infinity Vinyl Background--Photo Gray

A: Do you mean the same brightness as an 18% gray, like for metering? I don't have one but I would say it is close. Maybe a little lighter. If you mean is it a neutral gray, like for white balancing, it is very neutral. Be aware that this backdrop has a noticeable texture to it, so if you are shooting close up tabletop work that may be an issue. It is for me. Can we post pictures here? I'll be glad to email you a picture shot on it if that would help.

Q: 8. Hi,Is this some kind of a film or what?

A: It is vinyl sheeting of probably 6mil+ thickness. It is not a thin film. Think more like a fabric shower curtain.

Q: 9. I'm getting sagging wrinkles in mine. It's hanging from an Impact wall mounting kit but weather I'm hanging just enough so it's not touching the floor, or pulled all the way out so it's covering the floor and wall, I still get sagging wrinkles. Fortunately these aren't showing up in the photos as I'm blowing out the background, but they definitely would show up if I weren't. I tried clamping the edges to a C-stand to pull it taught and that helped a bit but it would have taken several clamps to get it fully clean. Am I doing something wrong, or is this normal, or ? Thanks!

A: I use mine only to blow out the background - not gray yet. I have only noticed my crossbar sagging ever so slightly - if I changed the light setup to get gray I don't feel the amt. of sagging would be a problem for me. I can't tell you that you are doing anything wrong - just share what I have done/experienced. My guess is your cross bar is not strong enough. I do use clamps to pull a different colored canvas more tight but not the white vinyl - works-ish but is a pain (I feel your pain). I use the photoflex background holder and keep it as close to 9' wide as possible (9' + couple inches. This crossbar system isn't perfect for other reasons, but what is, right?) I did see a photo of a photogs setup where he used a length of wood as his crossbar held up by 2 stands - no sagging at all. I also wonder if your stands are a lot more than 9' apart causing more sag. I have left mine on the cardboard core. One last thought: If mine did sag and that showed in the resulting photos I'd be tempted to put an extra stand in the middle, behind the background to hikeup the center just a touch . . . maybe with a speedlight foot on the top as not to damage the roll . . . does any of this help? I love this backdrop -- all the best!

Q: 10. I've read the reviews and a lot of them mention how heavy the rolls are. Please could you tell me the weight of a roll of 8'x20' white vinyl? Just want to make sure I get a background stand that can hold it!

A: It weighs in at 22 pounds. I use Photoflex backdrop stands and pole to support it and it holds it just fine. It is bulky to transport and I have thought about cutting it into two rolls, but it is a nice vinyl backdrop.

[Object Purple] I used this as both flooring and a backdrop to do newborn portraits. Its ideal as flooring because its so easy to clean for little ones and if you use the right depth of field it looks terrific in the background. I used it on my X-Drop stand and it stretches out with no wrinkles.

[Object Purple] I use this product for kids birthday shoots, great after a cake smash you can just rinse it off, I didn’t like the glare once the lights flash.
