The black DDB-BN2M 2 x 2 Wall-Mounted Bi-Directional Mic/Line Dante Interface from RDL is a complete wall-mounted Dante audio network interface. It features two XLR mic or line inputs on the front panels, plus two line outputs on a rear-panel detachable terminal block. Special software is not required to configure the DDB-BN2M. Each XLR input provides three switches that may be set from the front of the unit when the cover plate is not installed. The first switch enables or disables P48 phantom, second switch selects the mic or line gain range, and the third switch sets the gain. Each rear panel output provides a switch to set the output to balanced professional or unbalanced consumer level.

The DDB-BN2M fits a standard US dual-gang electrical box or an RDL WB-2 back box for installations in thinner European or equivalent walls. It is PoE powered and is available with optional customized graphics.

The two XLR inputs are each converted to a separate Dante network transmit channel. Three gain settings are switch-selectable for both the mic and line input ranges to match condenser or dynamic mic levels and standard line levels.

The two Dante audio channels are converted to balanced line level on the rear panel detachable terminal block. Each output provides +4 dBu balanced for a network digital audio level of -20 dBFS. Each output is equipped with a selector to unbalance the audio and attenuate the level to -10 dBV. These switches are located on the top of the chassis and are set by the installer prior to mounting the unit.

The rear panel outputs are intended for connection to RDL AMS connectors mounted in Decora-style plates that match the DDB-BN2M. AMS audio connectors include RCA, mini, and XLR jacks. The output plate may be located together with the DDB-BN2M in a triple gang box or may be mounted remotely in a single box.

The valid PoE power and synchronization to the Dante network are indicated by green LEDs visible from the front of the unit. The DDB-BN2M features discrete mic preamplifiers for studio-quality fidelity and low-noise performance, coupled through metal XLR jacks housed in a stainless steel chassis with dual powder-coated Decora front plates.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the arm be locked in place when both panning and tilting? It's clear that the tilt offers a lock, but unclear whether the pan can be locked.

A: No, the panning motion of the Impact 7 ft HD Wall-Mounted Boom Arm does not have a lock to lock the arm in place.

Q: 2. Can I use a double-ended spigot to put a Teradek bolt above and a small cigar mic below?

A: You should be able to use one double-sided spigot on top for the Teradek Bolt and one on the bottom for the mic. The total weight of the gear would not exceed the arm's 12 lb. maximum capacity.

Q: 3. Can the boom arm be locked in a specific panning position?

A: Yes it can be locked in a specific panning position.

Q: 4. Can this bracket be mounted on just one stud in the wall? Using two or four screws through the center holes?

A: I mounted it into a stud with two screws on one side , and used heavy-duty anchors through the two screw holes on the opposite side. I think you need to use the four screw holes, because it is quite heavy once you have a light attached. Having four points of anchor will give it more stability in the long run. This is an awesome product, and well worth the time to install correctly.

Q: 5. Hi there, my question is, how to connect these to speakers? Jeffri

A: The Audix DN4 Dante AES67 Integrated Microphone System Interface BH #AUDN4 will connect to an amplifier/DSP with AES67 Dante connections.

Q: 6. Is this a typical light stand mount? Like, could I used this to mount some video lights to some exposed ceiling joists?

A: The ALZO Wall-Mounted Camera Support with Ball Head has a 1/4"-20 mount which many lights are able to mount on to. ALZO Digital lists the maximum load capacity as 6 lb but recommends using this setup with a payload up to 2 lb, so the light that is mounted would be recommended to be under this weight.

Q: 7. Can you mount a camera to the end for overhead shots?

A: Yes, I would recommend attaching a ball head first for optimal movement.

Q: 8. Would I be able to use this for the Aputure LS1S Light?

A: You can use this with a Ls1s.

Q: 9. What are the dimensions of the wall mounting bracket?

A: The Impact 7 ft HD Wall-Mounted Boom Arm is 46.18 x 8.78 x 4.78 inches.

Q: 10. Is it not advisable to mount this outdoors?

A: The Impact 7' HD Wall-Mounted Boom Arm can be mounted outside but it is not designed for that purpose. This product is not weather resistant.

[24 bits] Perfect for our meeting room. Our cable box kept getting knocked down behind the television when one of guests would move the television to hook up their cable. Now, the cable box is secure above the television. No more getting knocked down.

[100 Mb/s] If you are looking for a high quality build with powerful headphone amp, which can plug in anywhere on the Dante network, look no further. I love this thing! Another valuable feature is having both 1/8in & 1/4in jacks built in.

[24 bits] I purchased these at a special price. I installed it yesterday to use for my strobes and for the items I photograph for a client. He called and brought over his latest piece and it was PERFECT. I was able to manipulate the arms to where I needed them. I opted to change the mounting method by creating a 19 x 19 mounting plate out of plywood then mount that onto two studs, then boom arm plate to the plywood, and a solid surface for the lag bolts and the screws.
I love the ability to move strobes to 90 degrees straight or 90 degrees up. So much versatility between strobes and studio lights for videos. Bonus... fewer stands on the floor.
