The stainless steel DDS-BN2ML 2 x 2 Wall-Mounted Bi-Directional Mic/Line Dante Interface from RDL is a complete wall-mounted Dante audio network interface. It features one XLR mic or line input and one mono-summed mini-jack line input on the front panels, plus two line outputs on a rear-panel detachable terminal block. Special software is not required to configure the DDS-BN2ML. The XLR input provides three switches that may be set from the front of the unit when the cover plate is not installed. The first switch enables or disables P48 phantom, second switch selects the mic or line gain range, and the third switch sets the gain. The mini-jack input accepts mono or stereo unbalanced line-level sources that are summed to mono. Each rear-panel output provides a switch to set the output to balanced professional or unbalanced consumer level.

The DDS-BN2ML fits a standard US dual-gang electrical box or an RDL WB-2 back box for installations in thinner European or equivalent walls. It is PoE powered and is available with optional customized graphics.

The XLR input is converted to feed one Dante network transmit channel. Three gain settings are switch-selectable for both the mic and line input ranges to match condenser or dynamic mic levels and standard line levels. The mini-jack left and right inputs are summed to mono to feed one Dante network transmit channel. This input provides a network digital audio level of -20 dBFS for an unbalanced -10 dBV input.

The two Dante audio channels are converted to balanced line level on the rear-panel detachable terminal block. Each output provides +4 dBu balanced for a network digital audio level of -20 dBFS. Each output is equipped with a selector to unbalance the audio and attenuate the level to -10 dBV. These switches are located on the top of the chassis and are set by the installer prior to mounting the unit.

The rear-panel outputs are intended for connection to RDL AMS connectors mounted in Decora-style plates that match the DDS-BN2ML. AMS audio connectors include RCA, mini, and XLR jacks. The output plate may be located together with the DDS-BN2ML in a triple gang box or may be mounted remotely in a single box.

The valid PoE power and synchronization to the Dante network are indicated by green LEDs visible from the front of the unit. The DDS-BN2ML features discrete mic preamplifiers for studio-quality fidelity and low-noise performance, coupled through metal XLR jacks housed in a stainless steel chassis with stainless steel Decora front plates.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Help Needed . . . there are two different and unfortunately conflicting answers to the question: "Can the boom arm be be locked in a specific panning position?".

A: This is the correct answer "Unfortunately, no... the only locking directions/positions are the extension arm - out and in - and in the angle up and down... I wish they added a locking feature to the pan (side to side) position " There is no lock on the panning swing side to side swing movement.

Q: 2. Can you mount a camera to the end for overhead shots?

A: Yes, I would recommend attaching a ball head first for optimal movement.

Q: 3. I searched for "break-out boxes," but was hoping to find something that would facilitate 'monitoring' the charging voltage to a cell phone. Does anyone know of a better search criteria to 'dredge up' such an item?

A: The dBx BOB is a system specific product for dbx Drive Rack. Monitoring of charging voltage to a cell phone is generally less important than monitoring the current.

Q: 4. is this for a home studio use?

A: not a home studio, but a distributed network in a church. they sent audio from their main mixing console to other rooms/locations

Q: 5. How large is the mounting plate to the wall?

A: The wall plate is 3.2". x 6.0"

Q: 6. Would I be able to use this for the Aputure LS1S Light?

A: You can use this with a Ls1s.

Q: 7. Can I use a double-ended spigot to put a Teradek bolt above and a small cigar mic below?

A: You should be able to use one double-sided spigot on top for the Teradek Bolt and one on the bottom for the mic. The total weight of the gear would not exceed the arm's 12 lb. maximum capacity.

Q: 8. What are the dimensions of the wall mounting bracket?

A: The Impact 7 ft HD Wall-Mounted Boom Arm is 46.18 x 8.78 x 4.78 inches.

Q: 9. Is it not advisable to mount this outdoors?

A: The Impact 7' HD Wall-Mounted Boom Arm can be mounted outside but it is not designed for that purpose. This product is not weather resistant.

Q: 10. does it fold flat to the wall for storage?

A: Yes.

[XLR (female)] I found these because I needed a more affordable Dante interface for Webex Room Kit integrations with Ceiling Conference Microphones using Dante. For Webex Room kits, they only accept Mic Level inputs so the switchable line level to mic level worked perfectly.
It only needed a $11 of parts with a TRRS 4 pin Phoenix adapter and a female XLR pigtail.
Works perfectly, sounds great, much cheaper than the alternative.

[< 0.1%] If you are looking for a high quality build with powerful headphone amp, which can plug in anywhere on the Dante network, look no further. I love this thing! Another valuable feature is having both 1/8in & 1/4in jacks built in.
