Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can you use this system with Lee filters?

A: Yes, one can use Lee 100 x 100mm filters, with the Wine Country Camera 100 x 100mm Master 5-Filter & Holder Kit with 58mm Adapter Ring.

Q: 2. Is this B+W adapter ring compatible with Lee Filters 100mm filter holder?

A: Unfortunately, the B+W 77mm Adapter Ring for B+W 100mm Aluminum Filter Holder is not compatible with the Lee 100mm filter holder.

Q: 3. I often use wide angles, between 16-24mm for long exposures using a ND filter. My current Tiffen 82mm variable ND filter will show vignetting. Will it be less so, or non existent with this system..Is it wide enough?

A: While specifics depend on the camera, the sensor and the actual lens, it can be said in general that 100mm filters do not vignette on any lens they are mounted on.

Q: 4. Is this a coarse threaded adaptor?

A: The FotodioX 86mm Pro 100mm Filter System Adapter Ring is considered a coarse threaded adapter for quick, simple attachment.

Q: 5. Why has no one reviewed? Is anyone buying this product?

A: Kevin Raber at the Luminous-Landscape has reviewed this product on their website. He highly recommends it.

Q: 6. Do Singh Ray filters work with this system?

A: Yes any brand of filters of the correct size will fit: 100 x 100mm, 100 x 150mm, or any with a maximum width of 100mm on one end.

Q: 7. Is this threaded? What filter size will fit the WI150ADP021 holder for the Nikon 14-24 lens?

A: The filter holder this takes is the Wine Country Camera 150mm Filter Holder and is a non-threaded clamp on. It takes 150mm filters.

Q: 8. Is there a lens-cap to go with the Wine Country system, so that I don't have to unscrew adapter rings everytime?

A: We could not find a lens cap for the Wine Country Camera filter holder. We know of no cap for the other larger filter holders either. Please know it does have a protective pouch when transporting. However, I do hear you. I have been in situations where I want to have at least moisture or dust protection while sitting or doing a short move to another set up. In these situations, I would suggest using disposable shower caps which are available at your local drug store or your next motel overnight stay.

Q: 9. Can step down rings be used to mount use this holder on a 62mm lens? Hope that makes sense

A: Using a step down ring may result in vignetting. You're better off using the Wine Country Camera 62mm Adapter Ring for 100mm Filter Holder, BH #WI100ADP062 https://bhpho.to/3tCcbWu

Q: 10. Does this come with the circular polarizer included, or must that be purchased separately?

A: This item is without a polarizer. If you click on the link below, it will be bundled with a polarizer; https://bhpho.to/33cu954

[0.15 lb] I bought the holder and a bunch of ND filters. ND filters are otherworldly good and made of GLASS (but that is for a different review). There are some things to know here. Build quality is outstanding. The polarizer system is both clever and useful. No light leaks around the filter and you can still stack multiple filters in front of it. It comes with a very nice case. Apparently some Lee grads won't fit and WCC will help with that - but so far mine have not been an issue. Only one minor issue. If you intend on stacking multiple grads of a particular size (100x100 or 100x150) - you will need to buy more than the two vaults that come with this. They aren't expensive.
Very happy I stumbled across them. Love this product.

[0.15 lb] Let me start off by saying that this is my first filter system and that I have never used any of the other systems. What little experience with the other systems were limited to YouTube reviews and fiddling with them in store. Therefore, no field experience with the other systems. That being said, I am extremely happy with this system. It feels solid, robust, well made, well thought out and luxurious. It is big enough to allow easy manipulation with gloves on, yet very light. The dial for the polarizer turns smoothly but not enough to throw the setting off in case you hit or shake the rig. The vaults too are solid. The only thing to be mindful of is that some Lee Grad ND filters will not fit in the regular grad vaults due to them being slightly thicker than other Grad ND filters. Wine Country is aware of this though and asks that you contact them. I emailed them and I received a new vault which I noticed had a slightly wider slot for the filter, however my filter still did not fit, but only by a tiny bit. So I went ahead and sanded the inside of the vault and got my filter to fit. Been happy with the system ever since.

[0.15 lb] One of the cadillacs of the square filter holders. Everything oozes class, but it is also very functional. The filter vaults are ingenious as they hold the square and rectangular filters in place and come out easily so that filters can be changed out as needed, quickly and efficiently.

[Aluminum] This has one serious flaw, but apart from that, it is simply the best solution to a filter system for serious photography. The concept of the filter vaults is brilliant, and the holder is superb. This is in a class by itself, and no other filter system comes close. Well worth the money. BUT it has one huge flaw, and that is the brass screw at the top that secures the holder to the lens adapter. The first one I got, this thing just snapped! The screw has a big head, and maybe it generates too much force on the thin body of the screw. Whatever the reason, mine broke, and I had to return it to B&H and get a new unit. I am now VERY careful handling this screw, but other than that, it seems to be working exceptionally well. Works with all the standard 100x100 and 150x100 filters, as long as they are 2mm thick. I highly recommend it, in spite of the one weakness. I hope Wine Country fixes this one weakness (maybe use a strong, steel screw instead of a brass screw?) I will give it 5 stars anyway, for the otherwise brilliantly executed product that comes very nicely packaged and presented.

[0.15 lb] I switched from the LEE filter system to the Wine Country Camera Filter system.

People say this is an expensive, hipster filter holder that is too expensive. I agree that it is fancy and expensive, but at the end of the day it gets the job done and I am happy.

Yes it has shiny polished wood knobs and shiny polished brass coin-shaped holders and buttons, but that doesn't hinder the operation. I’m sure it can be made much cheaper and less fancy, but this is the only version they offer.

I liked the idea of "vaults" and the built-in circular polarizer.

The vaults are basically holders for your filters. It reinforces the filter a little, allows you to not hold the filter directly (these two are just a nice advantage, not the main reason I bought these), and allows smooth operation of sliding the filter in – this is a big advantage of the Wine Country Camera Filter system over other systems.

What was frustrating about the LEE system was that it takes some force to slide in the filters - sometimes I was afraid I might break the filter. With this it's a gentle slide and you're set.

I currently use a 100x150 ND grad and a 10-stop 100x100 ND filter (Big Stopper), both from LEE with the vaults. Works fine.

The built-in polarizer is very easy to use. It is closest to your lens (helps vignetting) and can be turned after filters have been set, as the knob is distanced a bit. It is easy to use, easier than the LEE variant.

Quality of the polarizer aside, I find that the Wine Country system (built in polarizer holder and polarizer) is cheaper than the Lee system (filter holder + polarizer holder + polarizer).

The filter case/pouch that comes with the set is also nicely made - I travel a lot and hike often, so the sturdy case was a very happy surprise for me.

Again, they could have made this system cheaper and still do the same thing by eliminating the fancy stuff. But this works for me and I am happy.
