A new take on Telrad Reflex Sight with Tinted Glass Mounting Baseis offered with a bronze tint to the viewing window glass to provide a different contrast under certain conditions. It is outfitted with a generous 2.5 x 1.4" viewing window that provides a wide unmagnified true view of the sky, unlike conventional finder scopes that offer limited fields of view presented upside down and backwards. Three concentric rings—spaced at 4, 2, and 0.5°—provide an easy point of reference for locating objects and quick navigation when manually star-hopping. An easy-to-use, infinitely adjustable rheostat enables precise brightness control so users won't hurt their night-adjusted vision. A mounting base is included, and the sight easily detaches from it for storage or to move it to another OTA with a separate mounting base already attached without requiring it to be recentered with the OTA.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the maximum distance of detection, recognition, and identification of a small animal, of a human, and of a vehicle?

A: Distance of detection with good clear contrasting conditions has been used up to around 300 yards on a deer. Defining recognition is important but you could clearly make out the shape of the animal at 300 yards. A small animal would depend on environment and conditions but roughly a few hundred yards. Humans would be similar to the 300 yards, Vehicle most likely past 400 yards.

Q: 2. Is it compatible with JVC KY PZ100?

A: Yes this will fit the JVC KY PZ100

Q: 3. Will this telrad be able to mount to an orion dob? Or will I need a special adaptor?

A: The mounting base will mount to anything with a curved surface. It uses 2 strips of double sided tape (pre-attached). Just peel and press. It also has 2 pre drilled holes if you want to secure it with screws. There is a slight issue with it: the mounting surfaces are angled slightly toward each other, to better fit a curved surface. If you try to mount this on a flat surface (using only the tape) not all of the tape will make contact, weakening the joint. With a Dob, screwing it in is your best bet. Just remember to angle your tube down when you do this, to avoid accidentally dropping something on your mirror! Otherwise, this is an awesome finder. I also use the 4 extender to give me a little more headroom. Hope this helps.

Q: 4. Would painting the optics frame void any warranty if I'm putting this on a rifle I plan on painting camo?

A: Painting the Holosun DRS-TH Thermal Reflex Sight could affect the warranty depending on what type of problem develops.

Q: 5. cAN THIS BE MOUNTED ON A SMALL REFRASCTOR?

A: The Telrad Reflex Sight with Mounting Base (B&H # TERSIGHT) should mount on just about any curved surface with the included double-sided adhesive tapes or via the two pre-drilled mounting holes.

Q: 6. How much rail space (length) is required for mounting?

A: The rail space is about 1.6 the overall length of optic is 4.25 . You will need some space between the objective of the magnifier and the optic you're using it with.

Q: 7. Would this work with Canon CR-N500?

A: The Dotworkz D2 Base Model Camera Enclosure with Clear Lens BH #DOD2BASE is not designed to work with PTZ conference cameras. It is designed specifically for surveillance type cameras.

Q: 8. With the Vortex VMX-3T, what's the best lens cover?

A: For the Vortex VMX-3T Reflex Sight Magnifier the lens cover that is recommended is the Vortex Flip-Up Rifle Scope Cover #3. The #3 fit range is 30 35 mm.

Q: 9. Could you please tell if I can bay a Vortex Optics VMX-3T Magnifier with Built-In Flip Mount. I live in Ukraine. Should I have specific license to order it from USA to my country?

A: Unfortunately due to export regulations and/or manufacturers restrictions, we are unable to accept orders with a shipping address in UKRAINE for the following item(s): Vortex VMX-3T Reflex Sight Magnifier

Q: 10. Will this fit on a celestron NexStar8se?

A: Yes

[9.5 x 5 x 2.6"] I've been using Telrads for many years and even though I have 3 different finders on my two rigs (4 scopes, from 2 refractors to 2 large SCT's) I still rely on my 2 Telrads to get me where I'm going. Simple, cheap, and reliable.

[9.5 x 5 x 2.6"] The Telrad reflex allow easy polar alignment. Also since the intensity of the projected image is can be use in daylight and really dark sky. It seems bit big and clunky but it save a lot of time in polar alignment. Additionally since the inner circle is 0.5 degrees it allow for fairly precise polar alignment by placing Polaris on the circle estimating the time based position. Alignment of the Telrad to the telescope is very easy with precise 3 point adjustment.

[9.5 x 5 x 2.6"] I have used my telescope on and off for 25 years with the stock finder scope. I added the Telrad and now I want to use it every night. No frustration, just get the star or planet in the bullseye and enjoy.

[9.5 x 5 x 2.6"] I have had one of these on my Celestron 8 and it beats the hell out a right angle eyepiece on a spotting scope to try and locate something. The three diameter circles allow moving the scope to find the object of interest. Also available are a couple of books with the Messier object shown as the appear thru the Telrad. Makes life much easier if you don't have a go to scope. Easily worth the money.

[0.9 lb] This is my second purchase of the same finder for my new to me refractor telescope. I've used all kinds of unit finders and this is the only finder easier to view without any parallax due to its size. The same size may be an issue with smaller refractors (4) when mounting. Only negative is the base uses a tape which is ok but doesn't hold alignment permanently.

The viewing circles of 1/2 deg., 2 deg. and 4 deg. helps me finding Deep sky objects with ease.

[Black] I read all of the reviews about this telescope pointing aid, and can now understand why so many people are nuts about it! When I first got my Meade 8 SCT, I tried to set the 8 x 50 finder scope (that came with the telescope) pointing to Polaris with the six adjustment screws, and it was pretty frustrating to say the least! Once I got the Telrad on top of my telescope, my sanity returned! I don't use the adhesive pads that come attached to the base. Just a few 6 strips of metallic tape across the base holds it secure, and the metallic tape leaves no residue on the tube and is easy to remove if I want to move it in the future.

Shipping from B&H was (as usual) very prompt! Will buy accessories from them again!
