    Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What size is the threaded stud on the ball that attaches to the QR clamp? 1/4 or 3/8? Thanks!

A: Hi Eric, You can mail Really Right Stuff with your question. They will answer it within a few days !

    Q: 2. Will this support a Sony a7riii and a 24-70 f4 lens?

A: Yes, but a bigger head with a bit higher load capacity would be a better fit.

Q: 3. Will this be okay to use with an a7Riii and a Fe 24-70mm f4? Seem to be under the 8lbs weight requirement, just not sure how it is in real-world use for traveling.

A: Yes it will be. This head has an 8.8 pound load capacity, the combination of A7RIII and FE 24-70 F/4 lens are well under that load capacity.

Q: 4. Hi, Im using Nikon z9 + Nikon 800mm f/6.3. is the panning option will work well for videos? or it will to hard to pan gently?

A: The Really Right Stuff BH-40 Ball Head with Lever-Release Panning Clamp doesn't have panning fluid and counter balance so it is hard to pan gently during video. I would recommend a fluid head for panning during video such as this one. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1470943-REG

Q: 5. Will this work on a Nikon D750 Camera?

    A: Yes.

Q: 6. How is this screw know compared to the lever clamp?

A: The screw and the lever are personal preferences, beyond that some users like the lever when they are shooting in cold weather and wearing gloves. The lever is much easier to use with gloves and is also quicker.

Q: 7. Will the screw knob interfere with a fold down lcd screen on the D850?

A: Typically not, but if for some reason you are experiencing this issue, just turn the camera around. You can orient the camera on its L-bracket/plate with the screw knob facing forward/under the lens rather than behind the camera.

Q: 8. Will this ballhead hold nikon d800 plus 80-400 mm lens?

A: The combined weight of the Nikon D800 DSLR camera and the Nikon is 5.43 lbs. As such, the would work to support your camera/lens setup. While it is personal preference, as a safety precaution, I typically like recommending tripod heads with a maximum load capacity that is 3x higher than the combined camera/lens setup weight. As such, my personal recommendation would usually be for the Really Right Stuff BH-40 Ball Head with B2-mAS Mini Clamp, B&H # REBH40PRO, or if you needed a head with a smaller base diameter, the Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ball Head with Mini Screw-Knob Clamp, B&H # REBH30PRO, is a good option, but yes, the Really Right Stuff BH-25 Ball Head would work for your usage needs.

Q: 9. Is anyone using this on a Gitzo GT2545T(Series 2 Traveler)? Or too big for the tripod?

A: If you are serious about photography, this is a very good ball head. I like it very much. Of course, when you are searching this ball head, I assume you have a good tripod too, not something wobbly cost $100 level

Q: 10. Looking to use the BH-40 Ball Head with the Wimberly Arca Sidekick with the new OM 15-600 lens @ 4.55 lbs. Will this work?

A: Yes, Really Right Stuff BH-40 Ball Head with Full-Size Screw-Knob Clamp has a standar arca clamp which is fully compatible with Wimberley Arca Sidekick Ball to Gimbal Head Adapter.

[1.955 lb] Obviously a well-known product with plenty of reviews that are positive, but I had never had the pleasure of using one until now. Rock solid almost seems like I am underselling it - when it is locked up, it feels like a solid piece of metal, incapable of motion. Intuitive, easy to use adjustments, with knobs that are sized very, very nicely. Excellent quality in materials and fabrication - you can tell RRS cares about putting out a good product that performs as advertised - if not better. If this is in your budget range, do not hesitate - this is a purchase that will never end up smelling like regret and bad decisions!

[Yes] Heavy duty. The ball locks tight easily, but when unlocking it sometimes feels sticky for lack of a better word. would buy again as I like it better than my acratech. the quality of construction is certainly top notch. lastly the design for the main locking knob i thought was odd but having used it i quiet like it.

[+90° to 0°] I have had this for several years, and bought a second onw now for a friend. This is super sturdy. Using it with Canon 1DXMk3 and EF11-24mm. Super sturdy. My tripod is Gitzo 5 series and 4 series. You will never have any problems with sagging with this one.

[+90° to 0°] Works so well on the large Platypod and easily as good as my Arca Swiss equivalent.

[Yes] This is just a phenomenal product. Quality that is rare these days. I have found the feature to put some pre tension into the ball head to stop your camera from flopping around to be a very good. It is easy and lightning fast to acquire a level camera like no other tripod head I have ever use. It is also silky smooth and the over size position locking knob is perfect. I was told that the weight of it would be and issue, I don't agree. I hike with mine and fined really no issue. To have this stunning level of quality you will get some weight. What ever extra weight you carry it is totally out stripped by the function and performance of this state of the art tripod head. I could not be happier with my purchase.

[Yes] Firstly buying this RRS ballhead from B&H is hazard free, they have fast shipment at reasonable rate (ordered in Mon & received on Fri, shipment to Singapore), and help to take care of the import tax in your country.
Although this ballhead is small size, light weight, it is strong and can hold a much heavier load.
This ballhead can help to do precision adjustment, and will not move at all after you tightened the ball.

[Yes] such smooth operation, payload handling is phenomenal, and best build quality I have seen. RRS will probably be the only other equipment other than Gitzo that I will ever purchase.

[Yes] You can see and feel the quality as soon as you open the package and in use it is amazing. The holding strength with the ball at an angle is very impressive and has never let me down. There is virtually no slippage which is critical on long exposures. Superb engineered Tripod head and the best I have ever purchased and out in the field it is not only very easy to use but precise in making adjustments and handles my large lens (Nikon 300 F2.8 with TC1.4x extender) with absolute ease.
