The ARRI 25mm Master Prime Lens PL Feetis one in a set of 16 from ARRI 25mm Master Prime Lens PL Feetfeaturing excellent resolution, advanced contrast, almost no breathing, and a fast T1.3 aperture for achieving shallow depth of field. Ranging from 12mm to 150mm, the Master Primes offer the skin tones and color rendition for which Zeiss is noted, and are color-matched for consistency across the set. These lenses incorporate an iris with at least nine blades for cinematic-looking bokeh with distinct focus fall-off. Dual floating elements provide optimal close-focus performance while minimizing breathing when focusing. The advanced T*XP coating reduces reflections and glare while improving contrast.

Designed with aspherical elements for minimal chromatic aberration, the ARRI/Zeiss Master Primes provide optimal image quality and clean chroma-keying. High resolution is maintained in image corners even when the lens is used wide open and at close focus. Each lens features a PL mount and a built-in LDS system for transferring lens data to compatible cameras. The expanded focus scale has generous room for marks, and it sports fluorescent engravings for easier viewing in low-light settings. The focus ring has markings in both feet and metric; the ring may be reversed from one to the other by a qualified shop technician.

This 25mm Master Prime Lens features a 14" minimum focus distance, focus marks set in feet, a relatively light weight of 5.1 pounds, and a compact length of 8". This family of lenses feature consistent placement of focus, iris, and zoom rings for easier use with follow focus, zoom control, and F/I/Z wireless systems. Most of the lenses in the Master Prime family, including the 25mm, have a uniform 114mm front diameter, enabling the use of the same size matte box adapter, filter, etc.

[8.1" (205 mm)] Love the look of it. Just completed a set of it.

[1:8.6] This lens is my bread and butter. For all of my client work I need something with a consistent look across the entire aperture range. Up until purchasing this lens my primary client glass was a sigma 24-70 2.8, which although beautiful, got soft when zoomed in to 50mm and under performed in other areas.

Aside from the performance of this lens, there are two things I adore: It's construction and color consistency. Despite being incredibly light, this lens is built like a tank. I travel frequently and it holds up very well. Because Zeiss improved the color rendition in the CP.3 line, I often rent the 85 or 100mm for my b-cam and have a easy time matching up cameras.

Much of my client work requires cropping in substantially (thanks Instagram) and I can comfortably shoot this at it's minimum aperture of T2.1 for a tack sharp image that can be scaled up in post.

I think this lens' greatest competition is the Canon CN-E line, which shoots warm and renders terrible onion skinning on the bokeh. For me this is unforgivable, and I'm happy to see a neutral, clean image coming from the CP.3 line. Assuming this is the look you need, I'm not sure you can get a better lens in this price bracket.

[14" (0.35 m)] This lens has served well through the last 4 months. This lens produces a fantastic image quality. I am very picky when it comes to glass and the biggest thing I am looking for in a lens is little to no breathing. This lens produced no noticeable breathing when focused. Produces smooth, easy and precise focus pulls. Gears are smooth and easy to turn. Nucleus Nano had zero issues working with this lens and with such a large end to end pitch, it makes grabbing focus easy as pie.

[5.1 lb (2.3 kg)] I started using Meike MFTs with the BMPCC 4k and loved having more control over focus and iris. Although I think the MFTs are good I think the S35's are even better. My favorite is the 35mm but having the 25mm is great for tighter spaces or gimbal work. Gears feel great and line up with the 35 and 50.

[4.5" (114 mm)] The Rokinon/Samyang cine lenses in this price range are basically their photo lenses with cine gears. Nice for starters--I have two of them--but these Meikes are bonafide cine lenses and not much more money. Main differences are less focus breathing and longer focus ring throw. Much easier to nail focus pulls.

[14" (0.35 m)] I already own a nice 24mm 1.4 so this lens has got some heavy lifting to do to raise my interest. And it has done just that. Now it would be unfair to say it is light years ahead of the Nikon 24mm 1.4G ED lens that I have been using. Truth is.....it just does it ALL very well. Well resolved without being scratchy sharp. Holds the corners well. No CA that I can find and creamy (almost misty) background to help throw that focused subject right in your lap. Honest colors and built like a bloody TANK!!!. So yeah.... a worthy contender at around half the price of the other lenses it beating. You won't be disappointed. Rocks well on my RS3 Pro Gimbal too. Thank you B&H for overnighting it to my shoot and making Christmas happen in August :0)

[5.1 lb (2.3 kg)] Has a nice weight to it, solid and smooth focus etc. Paired with a 50mm Meike and another BMCC 6k camera for a tighter second shot. Works really well, didn't need to use the provided shims

[4.5" (114 mm)] I needed something longer than my 55 but shorter than my 85 so this is just right for me. Amazing wide open but I recommend a large production monitor to stay on top of the focus, DoF this shallow is gorgeous but you can't take your eye off it for a second.

[PL LDS] Love this lens. Just note that the image is flipped. You have to flip the image in camera, then AGAIN in post. An unfortunate side effect of being SO wide with this lens and the level of engineering to make it not cheap looking.

I think Arri will have a fix for it in one of their SUPs, hopefully soon.
