Precisely machined from a solid block of 6061-T6 aluminum, the RRS LCF-53 Foot for Canon 200-400mm 400mm 500mm 600mm IS II Lenseswill replace the original foot of a Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM lens with internal 1.4x teleconverter or a version II 400mm, 500mm, or 600mm IS USM lens and provides an extremely durable and stable platform for your lens. The foot incorporates an Arca-type compatible dovetail that allows users to enjoy a lower profile and lighter setup. The bottom of the foot features a standard 1/4"-20 accessory thread, while an integrated strap lug is available at the front. Additionally, the foot comes with two safety-stop screws to prevent the foot from accidentally sliding out of some clamps and it is made in the USA.

A: I asked RRS and they said it is most likely not compatible. Also went to Wimberley's website and there isn't any mention that the series 2 foot would work with the V1 lens. The holes are probably off by a mere millimeter or 2.

A: No. I have the Canon 200-400 with the 1.4 extender built in. I used it on that lens. It worked really good.

[Aluminum] I use the Wimberley AP-554 to replace the original Nikon AF-s 500mm f/4 IF-ED foot. I can now use the lens with arca-swiss type heads, giving me more flexibility. The price is right and the build quality is great. 5

[Aluminum] When the heck lens manufacturers are going to realize that Arca Swiss is the standard? Every one I have seen in the field buys a similar foot or a plate for their big lenses. Every one seems to know this but Nikon, Canon, Sony, ect. 5

[0.5 lb] I mounted this foot on my 500 VR before I put the lens on the camera. The foot appears to be stiffer than the OEM foot which makes for a more stable lens that is less prone to vibration. The foot also allows the lens to have a lower profile, especially considering the milled slots for the QR does not require the added weight and height of an accessory plate. The foot itself is heavier than the OEM foot, but add a plate, and you are going lighter with the replacement foot. The foot is long enough to allow my D700 sans battery pack to balance on my gimbal head. There is no issue at all with heavier cameras (D2x/F5). The plate is high enough to allow the foot to be used as a handle for carrying the lens. Despite it's cost, it is a worthy accessory for the 500 VR. 5

[Aluminum] I bought this to replace the foot of the Canon RS 100-300 and it is a near perfect fit (mind you it was not designed for this specific lens). Smooth solid one piece. Would recommend and buy again. 5

[Aluminum] Fit on mounting holes is perfect. Use the included screws with a dab of BLUE loctite. The Nikon screws are too short. The plate is stiffer and fits the Wimberley gimbal heads perfectly. It's lighter than adding an adapter plate on the foot. This is the foot Nikon should ship with the lens. Stop reading this and buy it now. You will be really pleased. 5

[0.5 lb] This is my second AP-554. I had one on my 200-400mm lens and this one will go on a 300mm f/2.8 This should be standard on the heavy Nikon glass. It's much better than the stock foot which is too short and too flimsy plus there is no need for a tripod plate since it has the arca-swiss groove built in. You can also install 2 small hex safety screws at the ends of the plate to prevent the lens from falling off your ball head. It can also be used as a handle to transport the lens comfortably. I think it's cheap considering how much better it is than the regular Nikon footers. 5
