Q: 1. I'm in need of a decent (but budget) UNI-directional lav I can plug into my Zoom H1 or Tascam DR05. Anyone know if the plug-in power from those devices is enough for this mic? Thanks.

A: The Azden EX-505U is a unidirectional lavalier microphone for use with WM-PRO transmitter order as AZEX505UH for use with the 41BT transmitter. It MAY however, work in devices that offer plug-in power.

Q: 2. Why this one costs more than Avenger E250 ? Different metal?

A: The Avenger E250 Long Double 5/8" Baby Pin is designed for use inside a super clamp or any other locking 5/8" receptor. Meanwhile, the Avenger E650 6.0" Pin with Collar is designed for use with a grip head. The collar at the end of the pin acts as an anchor to prevent the pin from sliding completely through a grip clamp.

Q: 3. The collar end is tapped, but not with 1/4-20 or 3/8-16. What is the spec of that tap?

A: From our measurements in the store with a caliper, it seems to be unthreaded and approximately 0.34" in diameter.

Q: 4. Does this work on a rode link system?

A: Yes. Currently, Rode is using the same exact wiring configuration on the Rodelink that Sennheiser uses in their evolution wireless (EWG3). For this reason, the Countryman B3 Omnidirectional Microphone (B&H# COB3W5BSR) will work with the latest Rodelink Systems.

Q: 5. Why you bought this pin and not the Avenger E250?

A: The Avenger E250 Long Double 5/8" Baby Pin is 6.0" long designed and made to fit into super clamp or any other locking 5/8" receptor.

Q: 6. Is this pin threaded to receive a 1/4 -10 double end spigot? Trying to solve attaching a Amran/Apurture LED panel.

A: This pin is not threaded at all. It's designed to be used in a pinch-clamp of a C-stand. The end with the reduced diameter is where a strobe would be added, and tightened into place by the set screw of the strobe.

Q: 7. Will this work for an Aputure 120D II?

A: Yes this pin has a standard 5/8th diameter the same as a light stand.

Q: 8. QnA update for 2022: a lot of old comments on not threaded but the item's title reads this way and I have 3 on my shelf all with the pin-side having 1/4 tap and 1 of the 3 have a 3/8 tap on collar-side. Is the current 2022 version actually tapped on both ends and the QnA is just outdated?

A: The Impact 6" baby pin Has a 3/8 tap on the bottom and a 1/4 20 on the top.

Q: 9. Will this work as a Mic for a desktop computer?

A: If your computer has a dedicated 3.5mm microphone input, you will likely be able to record an audio signal using this microphone. However, this is not what the EX-505U was designed for and you might find the output level to be inadequate in this application. This microphone is really meant to be used with our wireless transmitters.

Q: 10. Need clip for cable for Sennheiser HSP wireless mic to attach to shirt collar?

A: I would recommend BH #WITC5 as a clip for this microphone.

[0.6 lb] This is an indispensable tool when using a C-Stand grip head. The pin attaches to a grip head allowing you to secure your lights/modifiers to it at the angle of your choice. 5

[0.6 lb] You'll need a few of these if you use professional grip heads (like the Avenger, Kupo or Matthews). I have a couple of these plain straight pins and they are very handy. I see no advantage from the other slightly more expensive brand. Holds my Einsteins right where I want it. Works as it is supposed to. 5
