Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this on a Whimberley WH200 to shoot landscape?

A: Being that the WH200 uses an Arca type clamp, this head can attach to it via the Arca base at the bottom.

Q: 2. Do you have a recommended storage bag for the Really Right Stuff MH-02 LR? My MH-01 came with a matching storage bag.

A: There is no bag specifically made for the Really Right Stuff Monopod Head but you could use a lens case such as this Ruggard: https://bhpho.to/45OMEMV

Q: 3. Can it be used to replace the ball head on a Peak Design travel tripod?

A: Yes, the Really Right Stuff BH-25 Ball Head with Lever-Release Clamp can mount onto a Peak Design Tripod as long as the tripod is attached with a 3/8"-16, which most are.

Q: 4. Like all RRS ballheads, why isn't there an option to buy this monopod head without a clamp?

A: There is, click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/39Ge8JR

Q: 5. the standard release clamp is a RRS B2-LR-II 60mm lever-release clamp (according to RRS website). I already own that clamp and would like to buy the ballhead without a clamp. I'm assuming that I'd need a Flat-Head 1/4"-20 x 3/4" Clamp Mounting Screw but nothing else to use the clamp I already own. Is that correct?

A: The Really Right Stuff Monopod Head with no Quick Release Installed includes a Flat-Head 1/4"-20 x 3/4" Clamp Mounting Screw (Installed). That is all you would need to install a compatible QR clamp.

Q: 6. I would like to know if this monopod head will screw onto the Platypus Max? Thanks

A: It has 3/8"-16 Socket , you would need a reducer bushing Oben 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing B&H # OB1039

Q: 7. Does this order come with quick release plate?

A: This ball head does not come with a quick release plate.

Q: 8. Is the BH-25 the best choice for use on a platypod ultra? I plan on using it with my Olympus OMD EM1 Mk2 with a 12-40MM lens. Or should I step up to the BH-30 for this use?

A: The Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ball Head with Compact Lever-Release Clamp B&H # REBH30LR would be better to use with the Platypod Ultra since it has nearly double the load capacity of the BH-25.

Q: 9. Has anyone compared the Kirk MPA-2, the ProMediaGear Scepter HM1, and the Really Right Stuff MH-01 LR? All three are high-end versions of the old Manfrotto 3232 tilt head swivel. The question is: are they worth the money and which of the three is the best option?

A: I can't compare the three heads, but I use the Really Right Stuff head (with the Arca Swiss plate). I use this head paired to a Gitzo monopod when shooting wildlife from the deck of of a ship. It worked very well this year shooting in both Baja and the Arctic, and easily supported a heavy telephoto lens. The Really Right Stuff head is a bit over priced (as most of their gear is), but it is well made and should last for years.

Q: 10. Will this product work with a RRS Plate for Sony A7II?

A: Yes, it will.

[3.6" / 91 mm] I purchased this clamp for my Gitzo monopod.  The pivoting head is a bonus.  I am able to quickly change my setup from a large 600mm f/4 to any smaller lens.  The clamp orientation for mounting to the camera body is opposite for a lens mount.  The quick change makes this a great product.  buy it

[5.9 x 5 x 4.55"] I put this on my large Gitzo monopod. I use it on my large 600mm prime lens. It allows me to quickly pivot the axis as needed.

[5.9 x 5 x 4.55"] Without a doubt this is the finest and best MonoPod Head available from Really Right Stuff. Finish is great and very durable. In use I can tilt my camera in any direction and smoothly.

[3/8"-16 Socket] I have tried multiple different tilt heads and this one is by far the best. First of, the release clamp works really well. It has this two step release system to make sure it's easy for you to open and yet won't open on its own. And, well, the knob that releases the tilt head is fantastic. It's large, unlike most of the other heads, thus it's much easier to use and control. You don't need to put a lot of force to control it. The whole tilt head also has a great weight to it and feels incredibly sturdy. This is a must have tilt head.

[3.6" / 91 mm] If you're looking for a monopod head I would definitely suggest RRS. Yes, you can save some money by purchasing the head without the indexing lever-release, however, I find the time savings of not having to find and fiddle around with some tool when you want to change orientation more than make up for the extra cost. If you're already looking at RRS heads, save yourself the trouble and go with this one. You won't regret it.

[75 lb / 34 kg] A bit larger than I expected for a monopod. Well engineered. My copy, not sure if Indexing of rotating head works as the manual suggests. Manual says there is an 'indexing pin', but mine might be stuck. Regardless this is a welcome addition for my monopod, even if index pin not operable.

[5.9 x 5 x 4.55"] What's to say on this head? It's elegantly simple in it's design. As with all other RRS gear, it is built to extremely high standards, and feels incredibly solid. I use this had with a ground pod for low bird photography at the shore.

[1.305 lb] Very high quality and well thought out design. The clamping mechanism holds very well and the unit operates smoothly when tilting the lens up and down on a monopod. Love the large handle for tightening or loosening the tilt adjustment it will be easy to use in the cold with gloves on!

[3.6" / 91 mm] Upset I had not tried a monopod earlier and as always RRS makes the best.

[16.2 oz / 458 g] This tilt-head is right for long lenses where you're chasing fast-moving stuff. Better than a ball-head, which wants to flop sideways when the action is quick.
The RRS head holds the lens solidly and comfortably.
Some worthwhile hurdles to get over - tilt-heads seem to have their own lingo, so your average monopod user lands up scratching his head. Indexing Lever Release? Vertical and horizontal action? Etc.
RRS has youtube videos. With a little searching, all the stuff becomes clear.
Result: A tilt-head that makes the big glass nimble when the birds fly, or aircraft flash by, or when one is chasing a bug that won't stay put.
