  • Role specific cluster configurations - turn-key cluster configurations offer performance, capacity, and density to fit application workloads
  • Optimized network configurations - cluster and rack-level integration offers streamlined deployment of Red Hat Ceph Storage and infrastructure with consistency not attainable using improvised methods
  • Storage/Media Ratios to fit user applications - deployment of flash and rotating magnetic media allows the solution to meet workload tuned performance and density targets

Organizations prefer object-based storage when deploying large-scale storage systems because it stores data more efficiently. Object-based storage systems separate the object namespace from the underlying storage hardware.

Ceph's CRUSH algorithm liberates client access limitations imposed by centralizing the data table mapping typically used in scale-out storage. Ceph continuously re-balances data across the cluster-delivering consistent performance and massive scaling. The self-healing capabilities of Ceph provide aggressive levels of resiliency. Data redundancy is achieved by replication or erasure coding, allowing for extremely efficient capacity utilization.

Supermicro's Total Solution for Ceph offers turn-key storage integration of Red Hat Ceph Storage on SuperStorage hardware. The Total Solution for Ceph includes datacenter on-site service and support provided by Supermicro and is available for deployments in the US and Canada.

Ceph-ready systems offer a bare-metal solution - suitable for the open-source community and validated through testing under Red Hat Ceph Storage.

[Super X10DRH-iT] I have previously owned Buffalo Linkstation devices and have found them to be very reliable and reasonably priced. The Buffalo Linkstation 210 was very easy to setup for someone with networking experience. It took about twenty minutes to configure the network settings, shares, users and permissions. I am very satisfied with the file transfer performance and love that I can backup one Buffalo Linkstation NAS device to another Linkstation or to an attached external USB hard drive.

[2U Rackmount] Bought as a shared backup solution after Drobos died and that company is going belly-up, with no support or products. TeraStation was easy to connect up and set up shares to multiple PCs. Robust with plenty of capacity.

[2U Rackmount] There's one main reason I chose this instead of the newer and updated models and it all comes down to the hard drive compatibility of the 2021-2022 models that have been rolling out. This rackstation lacks the dual power supply I really wanted but I decided I can live without it since I have all of my files backing up to an RS2818RP+ living in the same rack and then another server off site. Models with Xeon processors can go up to 1 petabyte volumes unlike the lower tier processors that are limited to about 107TB which I didn't consider when I picked up the RS2818RP+. I did not have the budget to rebuy Synology branded hard drives since they are nearly 50-100% higher in cost and not really proven to be any more reliable yet considering limited data on their track record so it made the most sense to get something compatible with Seagate and Samsung so I can create volumes and save a ton of cash to put into other areas that make more sense for a small photography team. Currently loaded with five 4TB Samsung SSD's I see speeds of over 800mb/s read and write for 45 megapixel images and I imagine I'm only limited by the 10 gbe network I have. Formatted with BTRFS and RAID F1.

[Super X10DRH-iT] For all our storage needs - this is the solution! Not only is it reliable, it's one-stop shopping for our NAS and IP camera needs. Cloud storage is the new kid on the block - but this is the O.G when you want your data and videos in-house. I highly recommend it or its other siblings of different capacities.

[2U Rackmount] After studying the field, we ordered the Buffalo ls120. This comes configured with 2 drives as raid 1. It was particularly important to insure from data loss. Storage space was secondary. NAS of this quality are usually more expensive (and with more storage than I need). Any device on my LAN can access and share the data without having an attached PC necessary all the time. Other configs are optional, but with raid1, in the unlikely event of one drive failure, the data is still safe and continuously available on the other one. Buffalo would rush a replacement of the failed drive quickly with no interruption.
