The AKG C636 WL1 Condenser Vocal Microphone Headfrom AKG C636 WL1 Condenser Vocal Microphone Headfeatures a cardioid polar pattern and a 24-carat, gold-plated capsule that is housed in a rugged zinc alloy housing. It is designed to fit the DMS800 and WMS4500 wireless microphone system (sold separately) for meeting the demand of today's top vocal performers.

This microphone sits on an absorbent rubber bearing and has a double shock suspension system that reduces handling noise. It is built tough and the protection system consists of the grille, a foam layer behind the grille, and a magnetically attached mesh layer on top of the capsule. It is made with hand-selected components and manually tuned for a transparent sound.

Additionally, the C636 WL1 head retains the spirit of the classic AKG C535 condenser microphone, while being re-engineered to meet today's vocal performance standards.

vibrations over a wide frequency range, reducing unwanted handling noise.

A 3-layer protection system prevents unwanted pop noises, providing singers with a clear, plosive-free vocal performance.

The robust, zinc alloy housing with a spring steel grille and 24-carat gold-plated

capsule, makes the C636 extremely rugged and durable.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the mic stand adapter (mount) be purchased separately? I have an older akg perception that I'm assuming is compatible.

A: We do not have the stand adapters seperatrely but we do have shock mounts that would fit. Both by AKG and third party: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/811165-REG/AKG_1040_Z_00020_SH_100_Shockmount.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1075694-REG/auray_shm_scm1_shock_mount_for_condenser.html

Q: 2. Dose this mic come with a shock mount?

A: No, it does not come with a shock mount, just a regular sand mount. You can purchase a shock mount separately: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1075693-REG/auray_shm_uc2_shock_mount_for_cylindrical.html

Q: 3. Based on the description showing stage use , we bought two of these and put them on the edge of our stage facing the audience in the hopes of a decent ambient pick-up. They are picking up way too much from the rear and the manual actually says that they are either super cardiois or hyper cardioid which would not have as much rear rejection as a plain cardioid. Am I misunderstanding something or can you please advise us on a more appropriate selection? We are a church with a fair amount of stage volume and need these primarily for in-ear ambiance and the results were practically no vocals and little audience with mostly stage music from drums and guitar amps.Thank you

A: There are adapters in the box. One has holes to skew the response curve to voice. There is another to reject background sound. I think it comes with it installed. Did you check your db settings? It has a switch to drop the output.

Q: 4. Will this mic work properly off 15v church fixed phantom power?

A: This mic will operate properly on a range of 44 to 52 Volts phantom power.

Q: 5. I need a hypercardioid mic for interior dialogue recording on a boom pole. Is it possible the this mic can deliver in such a task? Or is it too heavy. Too bulky? Thanks.

A: I use this mic in our studio on a C-stand and hand held for street interviews. I do have some shoots coming up in August where I am going to purchase a boom for it. It's definitely bulkier than a choir mic, but I love the sound (don't forget to put the hypercardioid adapter on it that comes in the box).Hope that helps,Jeff

Q: 6. How can i get a replacement Mic Stand Adapter for P170?

A: It's an extremely common size. Almost any mic holder for a small diaphragm mic will work.

Q: 7. Is this mike usable as on-camera microphone?

A: No it is not usable on-camera. You would hear every bump and noise. For video you would use a stable boom mic stand. Also if you are using this where there is a breeze you would need a wind cover.

Q: 8. Will the receiver fit in a half rack case?

A: Hello! Its 4,5 cm high x 20 cm width x 16cm deepth

Q: 9. Please provide Country or Origin for AKG GN30 ?

A: The country of origin is Taiwan.

Q: 10. what microphone stand would you request for this microphone?

A: The AKG P120 Cardioid Condenser Microphone can be used with a variety of different microphone stands. You could use a tripod style floor stand with a boom arm like the Auray MS-5230F Tripod Microphone Stand with Fixed Boom (B&H # AUMS5230F) or without a boom arm like the Auray MS-5230 Tripod Microphone Stand (B&H # AUMS5230). If you prefer a tabletop stand, the Auray TT-6220 Telescoping Tabletop Microphone Stand (B&H # AUTT6220B) and the Ultimate Support JS-DMS50 Tabletop Mic Stand (B&H # ULJSDMS50) are both good options. If you would like a studio broadcast arm, the Samson MBA38 Microphone Boom Arm - 38" (B&H # SAMBA38), the On-Stage MBS5000 Broadcast/Webcast Boom Arm with XLR Cable (B&H # ONMBS5000), and the Auray BAE-2X Two-Section Broadcast Arm with External Springs & Integrated XLR Cable (B&H # AUBAE2X) are all compatible. Please feel free to contact us if you have additional questions or if you would like further assistance to select a microphone stand that will be best for your specific application.

[1.25"-28 Male ] Compared this C7 to the Shure Beta 87. Specs show it has more output, slightly flatter response, tighter supercardiod pattern, quieter noise floor and higher max SPL for the same retail price. I'm not disappointed. This is a great sounding mic. To check the pickup pattern I spoke into it and rotated it through 180 degrees from front to back and watch the meters on the mixer. For voice, it starts dropping at about 45 degrees from front and center and by the time I got to 90 degrees I was down by more than 30 db. From behind it was down another 5db again, but it was an unscientific test so probably was picking up room reflections. Using it at graduation to pick up audio for video it did a really good job of rejecting the room speakers and noise...it almost behaved like a shotgun mic. In my opinion, it's a better mic than the Beta 87 and has excellent sound quality and feedback rejection characteristics. It's an attractive mic, too. I plan to buy more.

[1.25"-28 Male ] I own several mics (including AKG D5, and the usual Beta58 and 58). For my voice the D7 is the best. Open and cut the mix. The D5 is too muddy for me. The beta 58 is also fine but on my voice (baritenor) it is more middle.
The best remains the D7.

[Black] The SR117 was marketed on its strength at rejecting plosives. ...It's not great at it, at best it's as good as a standard stage dynamic. SO there's no special sauce. However, you might be able to mitigate with aggressive use of a low cut. However, beyond that, I really like this mic because it is very much a blank canvas, it can take EQ extremely well and can give you some of that studio mic tone in a handheld.

[1.25"-28 Male ] I have a unit for one year and have been using it for all vocal recordings (in my home stutio) for my band since then. It's no surprise for me that it's capsule is known as "refference". Since it's the best mic I own, I avoid bringing it to the road, but I have used if a couple times in reharsals and the result was just spectacular. I experienced a great sound capture with NO FEEDBACK AT ALL even in moments when I was closer to the speakers than I should. My advice is: If you want a dynamic to make you impressed with a studio-like quality in live situations, just buy it!
