Safeguard your lens with the LensCoat Cover for Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G VR AF Realtree Max5from LensCoat. This water-resistant neoprene cover is custom-built to fit tightly around your lens, and helps protect it against bumps and scratches that may occur while you are out shooting. The neoprene material also acts as a thermal barrier between your hands and the lens, making operation more comfortable in extreme heat or cold.

To install the cover, simply slide it onto the lens until it fits correctly. Removing it is just as easy, and allows for switching covers quickly while out in the field. An additional piece can also be installed via hook-and-loop fasteners once the lens is zoomed to 300mm, providing complete coverage even when the lens barrel is fully extended.

For simplified operation, the cover features two plastic windows that can be used for viewing the distance scale and auto-focus setting. The Realtree Max5 design features a wide variety of plant-like patterns, including tall grains such as wheat and oats. This makes it well-suited for hiding from birds and other types of wildlife in many different environments. This product is made in the USA.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this Len refurbished?

A: Yes it is: Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens (Refurbished) B&H # RBN28300GAF

Q: 2. I am primarily a bird/wildlife photographer and carry my camera gear on hikes everywhere. My 80/400 is weighty and cumbersome, and while I love the reach, I have had difficulty with it hanging from the body and have had it repaired three times, the lens mount separating from the body. I am now using a FX, D610, so will lose some range with any lens compared to the DX, D300s which was my go-to set up. Will the 28/300 work be adequate as far as speed , focus speed, and adaptability with a 1.4 teleconverter, for what I like to shoot? I gain from the weight and smaller size but hope other attributes will be an improvement as well. Obviously, the first gen 80/400 was very slow focusing, and I would hope that the 28/300 would improve on that, but I have no way of knowing at this point. Thank you, J Bock.

A: From your statement I need to ask about your carrying method, is it open carriage that allow the camera to dangle from your shoulder? If so, when you move and it swings into something breaking at the mount even for the 80-400 is possible. You did not mention if you have the new or old version of the 80-400. The new version' mount is lower in profile than the older model. I would suggest to safeguard your gear try the hostler by Think Tank Photo that can take both camera and lens combo with the hood down, and you can have quick assess to it when you need it, and when you don't it is out of the way and be protected. If you have to pick between the 80-400 or 28-300, needless to say their cost and performance difference is quite large, and the resulting image quality will tell. The new version of the 80-400 is far superior to the 28-300. Their major difference is nano coating, But as a wild life photographer 80-400 gives you the reach but not when you need wide angle to cover the low end.Though teleconverters are available, my recommendation is if you don't have to use it, don't.You mention you also use the D300s, the 80-400 will give you reach to 600mm, which is a totally different ballgame. now, on that far end the staibilization performance will be crucial, I have found the 80-400 had superior VR performance than the 28-300. Of course, the price difference is substantial too.

Q: 3. Does this lens have a plastic or metal mount?

A: This lens has very nice metal mount. Like most lenses it has an alignment mark on the lens helping the user to mount it to the camera body.

Q: 4. Is this lens compatible with Nikon D-750 FX format?

A: Yes, I use it all the time on my D-750 in FX format to eliminate the need to change lenses and it is worth the extra weight to have the full range available all the time. It also works in other formats such as DX to extend the effective focal length, but you can get the same results just by cropping the FX digital image.

Q: 5. Will this lens work on D5200?

A: Nothing to add, all has been said. It will be a 42 to 450 mm lens.

Q: 6. Is this lens the best all-in-one lens for the nikon D750?

A: It's a great lens for multi purpose shooting. I use it when I travel almost exclusively, sometimes keep a fast small prime in my pocket. If i'm going somewhere very scenic i'll take a wide angle zoom, but most all applications this lens works very well. This lens has replaced my Nikon 70-300 f4.5-5.6 completely.

Q: 7. Hi - I was wondering if this lens is compatible with a Nikon D5000? Thank you!

A: The Nikon AF-S 28-300mm lens is fully compatible with all Nikon DSLRs, including the Nikon D5000.

Q: 8. Is the 28-300 moisture resistant? I need a lens that can handle high humidity. Thanks!

A: Have used summers on Cape Cod high himidy, dive boat in SouthPacific no issues with moisture, outer lens obviously will fog when going from air conditioned cabin to deck in south pacific

Q: 9. Nikon FS-S nikkor 28-300 mm F/3.5-5.6 ED VR lens are this lens Full frame for D750

A: I took my on a D750 to Africa on Safari; worked like a charm and didn't feel the need to change it out which can be a problem in a dirty environment.

Q: 10. Will this cover the Nikon Z 24-70 2.8 S lens?

[9 x 8.5 x 1.5"] As a pro I am very rough on my gear. This cover is peace of mind knowing I am protecting it from scratches and nicks. Love how it fits. The camo pattern also conseals the white lens when I am in the field with wildlife.

[Neoprene rubber] What a great product. Once you put the product on your lens, it has a snug fit. I have mine on several lenses for a few years and never have to think about it except to be grateful for all the scratches I don't have. Product performs exactly as advertised.

[9 x 8.5 x 1.5"] Nicely made, easy to install, good protection and looks great. My only nit is that it is overpriced and needs access to the drop-in filter without having to remove the cover so that you can use the polarizing filter when you want to.

[9 x 8.5 x 1.5"] Kind of a love hate relationship with these covers. They do offer great protection without any damage to your expensive investment. But they don’t last and are way too expensive for what they are. I called lenscoat on a previous cover that fell apart before the alleged warranty. They will not back product. Response was that was normal wear.
