With Sony FS7M2 V-Lock Quick Release Baseplateyou can build a 15mm LWS rig around your FS7 or FS7M2 camera. The included 15mm rods enable you to mount a matte box, follow focus, lens support or other production accessory. Since the plate is designed for the FS7, correct lens height is ensured for correct accessory clearance. A rear insert plate is included to support the raised rear portion of the FS7 body, increasing the surface area of the camera base.

The mounting points on the bottom of the baseplate itself can secure to a standard VCT-14 quick release tripod plate. When not locked down, the shoulder pad provides cushioned support for handheld shooting. Touch-fastener on the shoulder pad allows easy removal for cleaning or replacement.

Further handheld options can be introduced using the rosettes towards the front of the baseplate. Separately available handgrips, like the SHAPE Telescoping Handles can be secured directly to the baseplate for increased stability. Separately available 15mm rods can also be attached at the rear of the plate using the 15mm Rod Bloc (also available separately).

Q: 1. Need small screw for shape camera plate

A: Shape offers 4 types of screws for their cages and baseplates SHAPE 1/4"-20 D-Ring Camera Screw for Rig Baseplate (3-Pack) B&H # SHAPEDRS14 MFR # DRS14 SHAPE 3/8"-16 D-Ring Camera Screw for Rig Baseplate (3-Pack) B&H # SHAPEDRS38 MFR # DRS38 SHAPE 1/4"-20 Screw B&H # SHSCREW14 MFR # SCREW14 SHAPE 3/8"-16 Screw B&H # SHSCREW38 MFR # SCREW38

Q: 2. Can you mount the camera to this baseplate using the center screws, shifting the camera back an inch or so, similar to the zacuto baseplate?

A: Just be aware that you will likely go through the adjustment game forever if using the shoulder mount for anything off of sticks. I know they sell an accessory wedge to place under the rear of the camera. Might be worth looking into if you are for sure going to change the screw placement.

Q: 3. Does it fit on the FS7M2 too?

A: Hello ReneThank you for your question! Indeed it does! You can mount the FS7M2 on it without a problem. To enhance its stability, you can add our FS7RIP, a rear insert plate that you can find on our website. You can install that plate at the back of the camera, replacing the rubber pad that comes with the camera. We hope this helps and we thank you for your interest in our products. The SHAPE team

Q: 4. What's the support piece that you need to add to this to actually support a lens?

A: The support works with most Lens Adapters such as Metabones, Fotodiox, Novoflex etc. Most Lens adapters have a tripod foot with a 1/4" 20 threaded hole. the support is designed to screw into that hole and support the lens via the Lens Adapter. The included support is not designed to connect directly to a lens therefore if you are using a heavy E mount lens and wish to support it we recommend purchasing a separate lens support that will mount to the 15mm rods.

Q: 5. Can I attach this baseplate to the bottom of a Canon C300 Mark III?

A: The Camvate Quick Release Male V-Lock Baseplate is intended to be used as a interface to attach accessories. It would not be ideal for supporting a camera such as the Canon C300 Mark III.

Q: 6. Will this lens support screw line up with and fit with the Sony FE 4/PZ 28-135 G OSS lens support cuff?

A: The lens support on the Tilta Quick Release Baseplate for Sony FX6 is not meant to match any particular lenses support foot, but to offer support to any lens attached to the system.

Q: 7. Is anyone having poblems with it clicking properly into VCT14? I have to remove the shoulder pad for it to click into place securely and even then mostly it doesnt click into the rear screw. I bought a new VCT14 thinking that was the issue but I still have the same problem

A: I feel like I had a similar issue when I first got the base plate, but maybe over time it's been able to fit better into the quick release plate. In the beginning I might've press down on the camera to help secure it. I probably still make sure that it's clicking in the place of the rear lock.

Q: 8. Will this mount on the bottom of my Panasonic HPX-300p camera? Thank you!

A: The CAMVATE Quick Release Male V-Lock Baseplate can be mounted to the bottom of your Panasonic AG-HPX300 camera.

Q: 9. What is the weight of the Shape quick release plate?

A: Hi Chris thank you for contacting us. The weight of the SHAPE quick release plate is 0,85 lb. Best regards

Q: 10. Does the bottom have threaded holes to mount a QR plate of you don’t want to use the dovetail?

A: The bottom of the Tilta Quick Release Baseplate for the Sony FX6 has 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads that you can attach to. Here's an image of the bottom of the baseplate for reference: https://bhpho.to/4fXQA3n.

[2.6 lb] As a film student, BFA Film - Cinematography - Purchasing the Sony FS-7 was a no brainer. The ergonomics of an ENG style cam? Icing on the cake! The ability to securely mount this little guy? Something to be desired. I'm 6'5 plus some change--the FS-7 was not made with my body size in mind. With the SHAPE baseplate, however, I can put this sucker in a perfectly balanced configuration and get the in your face camera movements and CUs I desired from this camera out of the box. I'm not sure how the other baseplates rank, but what had me sold was the modeling of the plate to the FS-7's more unique footprint. The result: it looks beautiful, feels sturdy as a rock and allows for numerous configurations to fit any shooting style! Only issue seems to be the mounting of non Sony-style tripod mounts. Can't figure out how to attach it directly to a standard arca or manfrotto QR :/

[Aluminum] It was easy to install and is solid. I'm much happier with it than the factory shoulder mount on the FS7. It moves the grip handle out just enough from the body of the camera that it can be rotated to any angle.

[VCT-14] I bought this plate to use with the declination bracket on my Skywatcher StarAdventurer tracker. A conventional baseplate with a knob limited rotation of the baseplate because the knob would bump into the bracket. This baseplate has the side lever that is flush with the bottom of the baseplate allowing complete freedom of rotation.

[2.6 lb] Just buy it and try it. The versatility is incredible. Tight, strong construction. Lots of options. Seems like any support gear you're going to build around your camera, this is a great foundation!

[VCT-14] I love that I can hold the weight of my FS7, adjust on the go with the push-in SHAPE buttons, and feel like everything is super secure. A win!!

[2.6 lb] Must have gear for FS7

[2.6 lb] I was hesitant to buy this at first, because it's half the price of comparable solutions from Zacuto (which tends to over build things) and Sony, but I'm very pleased with it. Construction and build quality are great it's mostly machined aluminum, so kind of hard to go wrong. It sits very well on my shoulder with a simple FS7 build kit (see photo) and it's small enough that it doesn't get in the way, or make the rig heavier or clunkier. I mainly purchased this so I could attach a 2nd extension arm on the FS7, and it works great for that purpose. I picked up an arm and leather handle from SmallRig, and they work great together. I also attached the Tilta follow focus, which of course integrates perfectly. All in all, for the price of a Zacuto or Sony should mount, you can get a Tilta shoulder mount and Tilta follow focus, so for me the decision was a no brainer!
