The Vello Universal Softbox with Colored Gels Kit for Portable Flash (Small) spreads and diffuses the light from an on-camera flash in the direct flash position. It's lightweight, unobtrusive and easy to attach--ideal for any fast-moving shooting situations. It attaches to most on-camera shoe-mount flashes using the included touch-tab fasteners.

In addition, the FD-300 will also accept gel filters, and includes an assortment of six colored gels: blue, green, yellow, red, orange and purple. This allows the photographer to quickly and conveniently colorize the light output for a variety of special effect applications.

Q: 1. Does the box cover the exposure sensor, thus disabling?

A: By exposure sensor, do you mean you are using a thyristor type flash? If that's the case, I would say probably yes. It may also interfere with optical sensors on flashes with the sensor on the front, but you can usually swivel the head to address that concern.

Q: 2. How do you attach it to a flash?

A: The kit comes with hook and loop pieces. 3 of them will attach with adhesive to the flash body. If you do not want to attach teh adhesive pieces you can purchase the Vello Cinch Strap for Portable Flashes. It wraps around your flash and can be removed after use. See it attached here.

Q: 3. What a s the stiffening mechanism or material? Is it robust enough to hold its shape after repeated fold-ups and storing away in the camera bag?

A: It's a solid product. Does well, and folds up nicely.All that said, it is fairly limited in its softening of the light.I only use it when ceiling bounce is not available.SBH

Q: 4. Will this softbox block the sensor on my 580 Ex flash?

A: No, it will not block it--I was trying some things last week & I know that.

Q: 5. Will this fit to godox v1?

Q: 6. Will this fit on the Godox V860IIN flash?

A: It will be a little tight but should fit.

Q: 8. Softbox has it's own strap to fix it on the flash independently. Why do I need a separate cinch strap included in my bundle?

A: The cinch strap included with the Vello Octa Medium Softbox for Portable Flash with Cinch Strap Kit (8") makes it easier to mount and remove a variety of compatible accessories; if you will only use one accessory that has it's own strap, you won't need the cinch strap.

Q: 9. Will this softbox attach to a Sunpak 522?

A: The Vello Universal Softbox will attach to a Sunpak 522 flash.

Q: 10. Does this fit both the Canon 430 EXII and 600 EX-RT?

[0.145 lb] I use a number of different softboxes of varying sizes. I am a past professional photographer under difficult conditions and have taught university-level photography courses. I recently bought this Octa Medium Softbox from a special B&H sale. I have recently used it to photograph some spontaneous portraits. The results were softer than using the on-camera Godox flash. But the results were sharp, clear, with wonderful color. I was surprised at the quality. I will be using this Vello Octa softbox a lot for it lighting quality. The softbox folds into its little case and makes the softbox easy to carry. -- B&H's shipping policy is uniquely fast, I received the product in a week to my Israeli address. 5

[0.145 lb] I was surprised when I received this package. It looked like a middle sized envelope. But I opened it, put it together and attached it to my flash light. Very simple, very cheap, and it works beautifully for my use! 5

[0.145 lb] This fits on my Sony flash, it works great at diffusing the light just like designed. I should have paid more attention to the dimensions, I could have gotten a medium. The large rests on top of the lens and sags quite a bit when the flash is pointed anywhere but straight. None of my size issues have anything to do with the product, just adding it in case someone else can benefit from my lack of research. 5

[0.145 lb] I use several different softboxes of various sizes. This Softbox is a good size. It is easy to put on my Godox V860II flash. A produces excellent flash color. This is a new softbox for me, and I have used it only for spontaneous photos. However, the detail remains extremely sharp and the color is very good. I cannot show any photos as they are all very personal. -- I must add that B&H shipped amazingly fast to my Asian address. 5
